Pa l - O - M i n e Equestrian is a comprehensive therapeutic equine program that uses horses to facilitate growth, learning and healing for individuals with disabilities and for other vulnerable populations that was founded by Lisa Gatti.

Spina Bifida, Genetic Disorders and Emotional Disturbances. They also offer group programs, individual lessons, c o r p o r a t e workshops and a program specifically designed for military members.

Lisa’s mother was a special education teacher and her father worked for a book publishing company. She was greatly influenced by both of their professions. She grew up knowing she loved horses, but really wanted to become a teacher and work with children in need. Her father would often send her books while she was away at college, and one day she received a book titled Palomino, by Danielle Steel. As she read through the pages, she became inspired by what was written: a ranch that was formed to help people through equine therapy. From that point on, she was certain that was exactly what she wanted to do with her life. Through persistence, hard work and a passion to serve others, Lisa Gatti opened Pal-O-Mine Equestrian in 1995 as a 501C(3) organization.

Pal-O-Mine is located at 829 Old Nichols Road in Islandia. They grew from having two programs, eight horses and 80 students per week to 11 programs, 25 horses and 400 students per week, and they continue to grow today! This organization sits on eight acres, with a 20-stall barn, handicapped accessible bathrooms, a new 100’ x 120’ indoor arena with state-of-theart footing and a rider hoisting system, and three outdoor riding arenas. They help an unbelievable amount of people and their work is truly heartwarming. Individuals of all ages are welcome to take part in the programs they offer. They operate with five full-time employees, 35 independent contractors and 80 volunteers a week. Their riding instructors have experience with the following diagnoses: Autism Spectrum Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Sensory Processing Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Neurological Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Traumatic Brain Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Down Syndrome,

Additionally, this organization is proud to now offer a Frontline Heroes Wellness Program. This program is complimentary for medical professionals and first responders, and can be virtual or in person. The well-known benefits of being in nature include reduced stress while providing a sense of calm, connection and solace. Sessions for this program may include reiki, mindfulness and horsemanship. three winning positions. Volunteers from the organization, President Pat Patane and Secretary, Mary Kay Ross then chose three from the list of nominations to be in the competition. Winners,

projects to the outside from an upstairs bedroom window. Steve has always liked the Halloween theme. His dad got him interested in horror movies when he was a kid and, apparently, he has spread that interest to his family, which begins the decorating process in September and tweaks and adds throughout the season. Coming in third in the selection process was the home of Ann and Bill Rehder at 59 Prentice Road, Levittown. Keeping the Halloween tradition alive for the past ten years, the Rehders have been decorating their house in this horror-filled fashion for the past ten years and was chosen as a 2nd place winner in the LCC’s 2016 Halloween Horror House contest. They started out small and have expanded their decorations each

year bringing the spectacle to new heights with skeletons nicely placed as they crawl on the roof. Also in the running was the Mouzakitts home at 215 Blacksmith Road, Levittown. With barely a space left on the front lawn, the Spooktacular display is amazing. Evelyn and Bill Mouzakitts enjoy decorating and switch things up every year. A second place winner in the 2019 contest, this year’s addition, includes witches in the carport area that appear to be conducting a bewitching spell. The Levittown Community Council, was established in 1998 as a spinoff of Levittown’s 50th anniversary celebration the year prior. New members are always appreciated and welcomed.

FIRST PLACE WINNER - The first place winner is Phil Sellitto, whose home at 47 Hamlet Road, Levittown incorporates an eerie variety of mesmerizing props that he has hand-crafted to delight the neighborhood. Sellitto, has put his engineering degree to good use and his latest creation is a handmade coffin that opens upon to his command, is equipped with smoke, and just begging for Bella Lugosi to make an appearance.
