East Meadow’s Board Members Honored For Tireless Work And Dedication The East Meadow School District celebrated National School Board Recognition Month at their monthly meeting on Oct. 11. Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Rosner expressed his gratitude

for the tireless work of each member of the board on behalf of the entire community. “The work that you do for our students and the families that we serve is admirable, and the relationship that we’re

building together is much appreciated,” Mr. Rosner said. Director of Music and Art Kelly Nixon and Art Department Chairperson Heather Anastasio then gifted each member with individual canvases. The

canvases were crafted by W.T. Clarke High School Class of 2023 graduates Chaeyoon Baek, Jaziel Cenabre, Lindsay Chun and Chae Ryeong Kim, who were students in Mr. Brian O’Neill’s advanced placement studio art class.

“As we celebrate and thank our members of the board of education, it is important to express our gratitude and appreciation for the time, effort and dedication to the students and community of East Meadow,” Ms. Nixon said.

“We thank you for being everyday heroes and making our students your priority.” The district wishes to thank all of the board members for their dedication to the community.

Oftentimes parade oﬃcials enable youth groups, such as high school marching bands or scouting troops, to participate in the parade. · Ask a veteran to speak. If you work in a school or a community center, ask veterans to share their experiences with area youth. · Thank them for their service and ask how they’re doing. A simple “thank you” and “how are you doing” can go farther than you think.

Strategies For Coping With The Holidays Coping with the Holidays, a free forum sponsored by the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program, will be held on Thursday, November 9 from 12 noon to 1 pm on zoom. Oncology social worker Cara Livoti, LCSW, offers expertise in the ways individuals can utilize healthy coping strategies during the holiday season. Participants will also learn about the multitude of support services offered from both hospital and

community based social workers. Ms. Livoti has been a part of the NYU Langone care team since 2011 with extensive experience in supporting not only her patients, but their caregivers and loved ones. In 2021 she began working specifically with the breast cancer patient population at NYU Perlmutter Cancer Center. Ms. Livoti is wellversed in the resources available through NYU PCC and the community for her breast cancer patients

and takes great pride in providing comprehensive psychosocial care to those with which she works. Bethpage Turkey Drive – The Largest Food Drive On Long Island – Aims To Collect 4,000 Turkeys And 40,000 Pounds Of Food On Friday, November 17 New For The 15th Anniversary This Year: Local Businesses Compete Against Each Other To Donate The Largest Number Of Turkeys Oyster Bay Road in Bethpage. This year marks the 15th anniversary of Long Island’s largest oneday food drive which to date, has donated more than 45,000 turkeys and over 200,000 pounds

of food over 15 years to Island Harvest which helps supply Thanksgiving holiday meals to families in our community. Long Islanders are asked to donate frozen turkeys, non-perishable food items or cash donations. Bethpage’s Drive Through Donation Lanes will allow residents to remain in their cars while volunteers remove donations from the vehicles. The donations will go directly to Island Harvest Food Bank, which will help supply Thanksgiving meals to the more than 300,000 foodinsecure Long Islanders through its distribution network of over 400 food pantries, soup kitchens, and other feeding programs on Long Island. Raptors Of Nassau County’s South Shore Nature photographer Jay Koolpix will present Raptors of Nassau County’s South Shore, on Tuesday, November 14 at 7:30 PM at the Freeport Memorial Library, 144 W. The presentation includes fascinating photos and videos of South Shore raptors courting and mating, having meals, capturing prey, and feeding their young dependent nestlings. These birds of prey possess speed, strength, keen eyesight, sharp beaks, and talons to hunt and feed on small vertebrates (birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish).
