Helping Hand Rescue Mission(HHRM) is a local non-proﬁt organization that is based in Huntington, but serves people all over our island. Their mission is to improve the spiritual and temporal conditions of the children, families and people of the communities they serve by providing excellent service to all who come, whether they be rich or poor, high or low social status. They are here to love, to serve and to give. They are so excited to be hosting their ﬁrst Community Share Day on Saturday, September 18th with the Huntington Assembly of God! This will be a fun and engaging new way for their kindhearted, caring donors to connect with the families that they serve in their beautiful Huntington Station community. How does it work? You register online for a time slot. Then you neatly pack your car with the items you would like to share with the community, such as clothing, toys, household items, unexpired nonperishable food and any other items in good/new condition. Clothing must not be ripped, torn, or stained, missing buttons, or broken zippers. If you would like to give gift cards to families you may, but they ask that no cash is given. Also, no large electronics or furniture please. You can sign up for a two-hour time slot, where they will have the cars set up “trunk-or-treat” style in the parking lot. Community members will be able to walk around to the different cars and browse. You must stay by your

request.

car during your time slot and they ask that you stay until your time slot is over (or all of your donations have been distributed). There will be no charge for donating or receiving items at the event and HHRM reserves the right to review all items on the day of the event. Tax receipts will be provided for all donations upon

They will serve hot dogs, chips and soda to all who attend and they truly hope that it will be an enjoyable time for both our donors and community members! They are still in need of participants! Rain date is September 25th. If you are interested in volunteering with HHRM, there is a new opportunity available! The organization is looking for volunteers to help at the mission with their distributions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Tasks include sorting, folding, hanging on racks, rolling racks in and out of the building, helping with pantry bags on occasion and being available to help people ﬁnd items for their families. Bilingual is bonus but not necessary please contact Kimberly at kimberlygambino@ hhrm.org for more information. Superintendent of Schools John McNamara thanked Ms. Geller for the urgent care’s interest in decorating with district photos. “It is always rewarding when the district can connect to a community business. Performances begin Friday, September 17th for a limited engagement through Sunday afternoon, October 24th at The Argyle Theatre (34 West Main Street, Babylon, Long Island). Cabaret is presented through special arrangement with Concord Theatricals. Directed by Evan Pappas, with choreography by Sara Brians and music direction by Jonathan Brenner, the cast will feature Dana Costello as Sally Bowles, Jon Peterson as The Emcee, and Andy Tighe as Cliff Bradshaw, with Fred Frabotta as Herr Schultz, Brian Owen as Ernst Ludwig, Suzanne Grodner as Fräulein Schneider, and Lilly Tobin as Fräulein Kost, as well as Alexis Semevolos and Conor Stepnowski. Mark and Dylan Perlman, Argyle Managing Partners, shared “We are thrilled to reopen The Argyle’s theatrical season and close out The Argyle’s second season with the multiple Tony award winning classic Cabaret.” They went on to say, “Come join us at the Kit Kat Club in Berlin in 1931 where patrons search for escape while the seeds of intolerance are fomenting. Be captivated in a time and place where nothing is certain except for one’s dreams.” In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920’s draws to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary, Cabaret explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff Bradsaw, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken by English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish. First presented in 1966, the ground-breaking musical Cabaret won an impressive 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, which then culminated into a smashing Oscar Winning film in 1972 winning 8 Oscars. The Road to Victory: Armor Museum’s Rolls Out Its Armor Collection at Old Bethpage Village Restoration The Museum of American Armor’s “The Road to Victory” program will be held on Saturday, September 18th and Sunday, September 19th inside Old Bethpage Village Restoration, 1303 Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage, N.Y., featuring many of the operational military vehicles in the Armor Museum’s collection. An additional donation offers families a unique opportunity to ride inside a Half Track, Command Car, or troop transport. The gates to Old Bethpage Village Restoration will be

open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with last ticket sales at 2:30 p.m. Admission is $15.00 for adults, $12.00 for seniors and children (5-12), under 5 is free. Veterans and active duty personnel are free. A Parade Of History The Armor Museum hosts an operational collection of over forty armor vehicles including the mighty Hellcat tank destroyer, halftracks, armored cars similar to those that liberated the Nazi death camps, Vietnam era combat vehicles, and the massive

M48 Patton tank that would have confronted Soviet armor in the disastrous event the Cold War became an open conflict. The museum will also present operational replicas of several enemy vehicles as a dramatic reminder of the powerful forces that have faced America in its historic defense of democracy.
