That the Board of Education of the Lindenhurst Union Free School District, in the County of Suffolk, New York (the “District”), is hereby authorized to construct alterations and improvements to District buildings and sites (the Project”), substantially as described in a plan prepared for the District by
BBS Architects, Landscape Architects, and Engineers, PC, Patchogue, New York, and to expend therefor an amount not to exceed the estimated total cost of $57,859,300; (b) that a tax is hereby voted in the aggregate amount of not to exceed $57,859,300 to finance said cost, such tax to be levied and collected in installments in such years and in such amounts as may be determined by said Board of Education; and (c) that in anticipation of said tax, bonds of the District are hereby authorized to be issued in the aggregate principal amount of not to exceed $57,859,300 and a tax is hereby voted to pay the interest on said bonds as the same shall become due and payable.
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a copy of the detailed statement in writing of the amount of
money which will be required for the 2026 - 27 school year for school purposes (the proposed budget), will be made available, upon request, to any resident of the District between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. beginning April 29, 2026 except Saturday, Sunday or holidays, at the District Administration Office, 350 Daniel Street, Lindenhurst, New York, at each schoolhouse in the District, on the District’s website at www. lindenhurstschools.org, and at the Lindenhurst Memorial Library.
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that pursuant to Section 495 of the Real Property Tax Law, the School District is required to attach to its proposed budget an exemption report. Said exemption report, which will
also become part of the final budget, will show how much of the total assessed value on the final assessment roll used in the budgetary process is exempt from taxation, list every type of exemption granted, identified by statutory authority, and show:
(a) the cumulative impact of each type of exemption expressed either as a dollar amount of assessed value or as a percentage of the total assessed value on the roll;
(b) the cumulative amount expected to be received from recipients of each type of exemption as payments in lieu of taxes or other payments for municipal services; and
(c) the cumulative impact of all exemptions granted. The exemption report shall be posted on any bulletin board maintained by the District for public notices and on any website maintained by the District.
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education shall be filed with the Clerk of said School District at her office at the District Administration Office, 350 Daniel Street, Lindenhurst, New York, not later than April 20, 2026, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., prevailing time. Each petition shall be directed to the Clerk of the District; must be signed by at least 55 qualified voters of the District (representing the greater of 25 qualified voters or 2% of the number of voters who voted in the previous annual election); must state the name and residence of each signer, and, must state the name and residence of the candidate and shall describe the specific vacancy for which the candidate is nominated. Each vacancy upon the Board of Education to be filled shall be considered separate specific vacancies. The annual FourLeaf Air Show at Jones Beach State Park will take place on Sunday, July 5, 2026, and Monday, July 6, 2026, as part of the United States’ Semiquincentennial (250th) celebration.
Traditionally held over Memorial Day weekend, the 2026 air show has been rescheduled to align with Fleet Week New York, which has also moved to the July 4th holiday weekend. The United States Navy Blue Angels will headline the show, joined by additional military performers and internationally recognized civilian aerobatic acts.
Although the air show will not be held on Memorial Day weekend in 2026, Jones Beach State Park will still host events during that time to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation. Organizers look forward to welcoming visitors to
Jones Beach over the July 4th weekend for the 2026 FourLeaf Air Show.
The Lindenhurst School District’s proposed 2026 Bond Plan focuses on maintaining and strengthening the high-quality learning environments that the Lindenhurst community demands. The plan includes improvements that support student and faculty health and wellness, upgrades to aging infrastructure, and enhancements to our athletic programs. Bond 2026 includes:

On April 28th, the Lindenhurst Community Cares Coalition participated in DEA National Fentanyl Awareness Day at Lindenhurst High School and we couldn’t be more proud of the student who made it happen.

Our youth coalition leaders organized and designed the entire awareness table in the school rotunda, reaching every student who came through during lunch. Interactive activities included the One Pill Can Kill and Real vs. Fake pill recognition display, a sugar scale demonstration showing the terrifyingly small amount of fentanyl that can be lethal, and a prize wheel that kept the energy going all day.
Our team connected one-on-one with students, provided Narcan kits to those who needed them, and shared information about local resources, including our Pizza Box Campaign, which is bringing prevention messaging from middle schoolers through restaurant partners right here in the Town of Babylon.
Thank you to Lindenhurst High School for welcoming us, and to every student who stopped to learn something new.

Registration is open for the Hope For The Warriors 30x30 Memorial Day Challenge, a free virtual wellness event focused on physical and emotional well-being while honoring U.S. service members who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Hosted by Craig Conover, a Bravo television personality and Hope For The Warriors board council member, the challenge runs May 1–30. Participants commit to at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day for 30 consecutive days. Activities may include walking, running, hiking, swimming, strength training, or dancing. The Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst awarded five deserving students from Lindenhurst High School with awards at its annual Scholarship Dinner on Tuesday, May 5th.
This year the Tony Lazio & Larry Troiano Memorial Scholarship Fund, named in honor of two founding members of the club, was awarded to Ajay Rambarran, the class valedictorian. Ajay plans to attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he will study engineering science and applied mathematics. Ajay is one of only four students in Suffolk County to be accepted into this prestigious university.
The William Jubak & Richard Heuwetter Key Club Scholarship is named in honor of the first Key Club advisors, the Kiwanis service leadership program at the high school level. This award was given to Briana Stokes. Briana has been the Key Club’s secretary. She plans to
study biochemistry at Stony Brook University.
The Nives Hoffmann Lozito Memorial Scholarship honors an elementary school teacher at the Daniel Street school who dedicated her life to teaching children to read. The award named for her is given to a student who plans a career in education. Kaitlyn Lund will be attending SUNY-Old Westbury and will concentrate on early childhood education. She is a recipient of the Girl Scouts Silver Award and is working toward the Gold Award
The Hon. Arthur M. Cromarty Hometown Heroes Scholarship. Hon. Justice Arthur M. Cromarty was a founder of the Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst, a veteran of World War II, and a leader in Suffolk County government. This award is presented to a student who has a family member who served in the U.S. military. Ziyah Fernandez is the winner of this award. Her father is a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Ziyah will be attending San Diego State University and plans to pursue a career in international business and marketing.
The George Bryant Memorial Career and Technical Education Scholarship is named after
a distinguished past Lt. Governor of NY Kiwanis and member of the club for 50 years prior to his death in 2024. It is awarded to a student who has achieved distinction in the Career and Technical Education program. Benjamin
Thangavelu, a member of the CTE National Honor and National Honor Society, is the recipient of this award. Benjamin plans to study finance at Stony Brook University.
Since 1960, the Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst has
awarded over $650,000 to 308 high school seniors in furtherance of its mission to improve the world one child and one community at a time. The club is celebrating its 75th anniversary of service to children in Lindenhurst.
