On Saturday, October 24th, Massapequa Takes Action Coalition (MTAC) held a Fall Drug Take Back Event. MTAC, the Massapequa Elks Lodge #2162 and the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce collaborated to make the Fall Drug Take Back a success. Volunteers from

the Massapequa Elks and Massapequa Chamber of Commerce were eager to support the MTAC initiative and greeted residents with enthusiasm. With the help from all volunteers, 200 pounds of pharmaceuticals were collected. To become involved in MTAC’s initiatives and to

You can visit Town Hall during Passport Weekend to receive free assistance in preparing your application, organizing your documents, obtaining a photo and submitting the documents for approval.” Requirements for applying for a passport include: • One 2x2 color photograph with a clear view of the applicant’s face against a plain white or light colored background. November 2, 2020 Dear Merchants, Business Owners and Fellow Members: “The beat goes on,” as the expression goes. This is my thinking as the coronavirus fatigue begins to get to me as this pandemic seems to not want to end. This time of year, the days get shorter and daylight lesser, which seems to make people unhappy. I start off like this as we all need to know and acknowledge that we are in this together, and we need to pray for each other and hope that all stay well and safe, as we will beat this eventually. We honored Father Tony Heinlein at our last meeting, and he was gratified that we recognized him. My thanks to all that supported this day, and we look forward to always working with him as our Chaplain. If any of our members have other clergymen that would like to be Associate Chaplains, please let me know and I will consider that appointment. We look forward now to some happy times with family and friends as we get busy with Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukah, and the coming of 2021. Alleluia as 2020 comes to an end.

The Charity of the Month for November is:

Pal-O-Mine Equestrian

Pa l - O - M i n e Equestrian is a comprehensive therapeutic equine program that uses horses to facilitate growth, learning and healing for individuals with disabilities and for other vulnerable populations that was founded by Lisa Gatti. Located at 829 Old Nichols Road in Islandia, Pal-O-Mine grew from having two programs, eight horses and 80 students per week to 11 programs, 25 horses and 400 students per week. This organization sits on eight acres, with a 20-stall barn, handicapped accessible bathrooms, a new 100’ x 120’ indoor arena with stateof-the-art footing and a rider hoisting system, and three outdoor riding arenas. Individuals of all ages are welcome to take part in the programs they offer. They operate with five full-time employees, 35 independent contractors and 80 volunteers a week. Their riding instructors have experience with the following diagnoses: Autism Spectrum Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Sensory Processing Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Neurological Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Traumatic Brain Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida, Genetic Disorders and Emotional Disturbances.They also offer group programs, individual lessons, corporate workshops and a program specifically designed for military members. Pal-O-Mine wants you to know just how they can help those who have served in our military, along with those who are still serving our nation. For more than four thousand years, horses have been an integral part of warfare. Today, horses are still playing an important role in war, this time in the recovery of military veterans who have suffered emotional and/ or physical injuries. Pal-O-Mine Equestrian is an EAGALA Designed Military Program.This designation asserts that EAGALA Certified Professionals working with the military have specialized training and experience in the military community. Sessions at the farm are action, not talk and they offer individual, group and family sessions. Pal-O-Mine offers programs to Verterans from Vietnam, Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan and for Service men and women who fought in Operation Iraqi Freedom,

Operation New Dawn, Operation Enduring Freedom and for Active Duty Service Members. It’s not always easy to ask for help, but the benefits of doing so outweigh the fear. One military member who received help from this organizaiton mentioned the following, “For someone in the military like me, it’s hard to swallow my pride and ask for help. This was a safe environment to open up in.
