Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilman Tom Hand have announced a massive, month long collection drive to help benefit needy families and less fortunate children throughout the community during the upcoming holiday season. In partnership with the United States Marine Corps, the Town of Oyster Bay will host a first-of-itskind ‘Cruise Thru Holiday Toy Drive’ at John Burns Park in Massapequa on Saturday, December 5th from 9am to 2pm (rain date for the event is Sunday, December 6th). In addition to the cruise thru holiday toy drive, collection boxes will also be located at multiple locations throughout the Town, ending December 14th. These unprecedented efforts will help collect new,

unwrapped toys that will be used as gifts for needy children throughout the community. Supervisor Saladino said, “The Toys for Tots Drive has long been a huge success under the leadership of the U.S. Marine Corps, especially here in the Town of Oyster Bay, as just last year we smashed the previous year’s record in our toy drive collection. This year’s drive is especially crucial, as due to the coronavirus global pandemic, many more families than normal are feeling an undue financial burden. I encourage all of our residents who are able to donate to this amazing cause, as the Toys for Tots Drive helps ensure that disadvantaged children within our community do not have to go the holiday season without something to bring them

happiness.” The ‘Cruise Thru Holiday Toy Drive’ will provide residents an excellent way to contribute directly to the cause and help bring a smile to a child’s face this holiday season. Additionally, the event will feature an appearance by Santa Claus, and a drop box where kids can

Operation New Dawn, Operation Enduring Freedom and for Active Duty Service Members. It’s not always easy to ask for help, but the benefits of doing so outweigh the fear. One military member who received help from this organizaiton mentioned the following, “For someone in the military like me, it’s hard to swallow my pride and ask for help. This was a safe environment to open up in. Please note, all students, volunteers and staff must complete, sign and submit a Health Screening Questionnaire prior to coming to Pal-O-Mine. Pa l - O - M i n e Equestrian is a comprehensive therapeutic equine program that uses horses to facilitate growth, learning and healing for individuals with disabilities and for other vulnerable populations that was founded by Lisa Gatti. Located at 829 Old Nichols Road in Islandia, Pal-O-Mine grew from having two programs, eight horses and 80 students per week to 11 programs, 25 horses and 400 students per week. This organization sits on eight acres, with a 20-stall barn, handicapped accessible bathrooms, a new 100’ x 120’ indoor arena with stateof-the-art footing and a rider hoisting system, and three outdoor riding arenas. Individuals of all ages are welcome to take part in the programs they offer. They operate with five full-time employees, 35 independent contractors and 80 volunteers a week. Their riding instructors have experience with the following diagnoses: Autism Spectrum Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Sensory Processing Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Neurological Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Traumatic Brain Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida, Genetic Disorders and Emotional Disturbances.They also offer group programs, individual lessons, corporate workshops and a program specifically designed for military members. Pal-O-Mine wants you to know just how they can help those who have served in our military, along with those who are still serving our nation. For more than four thousand years, horses have been an integral part of warfare. Today, horses are still playing an important role in war, this time in the recovery of military veterans who have suffered emotional and/ or physical injuries. Pal-O-Mine Equestrian is an EAGALA Designed Military Program.This designation asserts that EAGALA Certified Professionals working with the military have specialized training and experience in the military community. Sessions at the farm are action, not talk and they offer individual, group and family sessions. On Saturday, October 24th, Massapequa Takes Action Coalition (MTAC) held a Fall Drug Take Back Event. MTAC, the Massapequa Elks Lodge #2162 and the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce collaborated to make the Fall Drug Take Back a success. Volunteers from

November 2, 2020 Dear Merchants, Business Owners and Fellow Members: “The beat goes on,” as the expression goes. This is my thinking as the coronavirus fatigue begins to get to me as this pandemic seems to not want to end. This time of year, the days get shorter and daylight lesser, which seems to make people unhappy. I start off like this as we all need to know and acknowledge that we are in this together, and we need to pray for each other and hope that all stay well and safe, as we will beat this eventually. We honored Father Tony Heinlein at our last meeting, and he was gratified that we recognized him. My thanks to all that supported this day, and we look forward to always working with him as our Chaplain. If any of our members have other clergymen that would like to be Associate Chaplains, please let me know and I will consider that appointment.
