Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board recently announced a partnership with NuHealth (Nassau University Medical Center) to provide free flu shots to residents aged 60+. The Town of Oyster Bay’s Free Flu Vaccination Program will take place on Monday, November 2nd at the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center, located at 1001 Stewart Avenue in Bethpage. The program will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and vaccinations will be administered on
a first-come, first served basis. Supervisor Saladino stated, “Thanks to a partnership with NuHealth, the influenza inoculations are being made available to senior citizens with no out-ofpocket expense. Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman Vicki Walsh recently announced a new volunteer program that helps protect the lives of senior citizens. The Town of Oyster Bay is calling on students to volunteer in helping senior citizens register for Smart911, a free public safety service offered by the Nassau County Police Department that allows residents to provide 911 emergency call takers and emergency responders
with one’s health condition, prescription medicines and other important medical information. Councilwoman Walsh stated “With many senior citizens not utilizing a computer, this volunteer initiative allows students help their aging neighbors register lifesaving information with the Nassau County Police Department and ensure the highest level of emergency response during a critical time. The
information we submit to Smart911 enables first responders to make better decisions more quickly when taking your call and arriving at your home during an emergency.” Smart911 allows all residents to create a free safety profile for their household at www.smart911.com that includes information necessary for 911 call takers to have in the event of an emergency. Details can include names and photos
of all family members, medical conditions, allergies, pets, and emergency contacts. The Safety Profile created by residents will immediately display to 911 call takers when receiving an emergency call, and also provides a way for residents to include information that will enhance disaster response such as power needs for medical equipment, evacuation assistance and sheltering needs. In the event of a natural disaster, public
safety officials will be able to quickly determine which residents need assistance. “Smart911 streamlines the time necessary to collect critical information and allows faster assignment and dispatch of responders to call locations with more information to assist the residents quickly,” added Councilwoman Walsh. On Saturday, October, 10, elected officials and community leaders were among the special guests who helped cut the ribbon signaling the grand opening of LI Walk-In Care, an urgent care center located at 808A Hicksville Road in Massapequa. Under new ownership by Inderpal Chhabra, MD, a well-known and respected local physician, the Center offers a range of services including Covid-19 testing, diagnosis and treatment of urgent medical issues, flu shots and vaccines, as well as primary care for adults and children aged 18 months and above. The Center’s boardcertified staff has decades of experience in pediatrics, pediatric emergency medicine, emergency and primary care and internal medicine. It offers on-site radiology and an on-site
laboratory to facilitate swift diagnosis of illness and injury. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. No appointments are necessary. The care team is led by Dr. Chhabra, who is board-certified in internal medicine and also operates a private practice in New Hyde Park. Along with Dr. Chhabra, Tommy O’Brien, DO is also providing patient care, as is David Johnson, PA. Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino recently commended Andrew Braunstein of Troop 776 in Massapequa upon the completion of his Eagle Scout Project at TOBAY Beach. Andrew constructed and installed several directional signs leading residents to the Town’s 9/11 Walls of Honor Memorial. The
project required hours of logistical planning and design and was recently implemented by Andrew, along with help from the Town’s Parks Department. This project was completed as part of Andrew’s path to becoming an Eagle Scout, the highest honor a Boy Scout can achieve after completing hours of community service
and attaining numerous merit badges. Supervisor Saladino commended Andrew, who accompanied at the sign unveiling by his parents, for his hard work and dedication towards the goal of achieving this prestigious achievement, which only about 6% of all Boy Scouts attain.

Originally scheduled to close on Sunday, Nov. 1, the Halloween inspired experience will now continue on Wednesday, Nov. 4, through Sunday, Nov. 8. Admission is by advance timed tickets only, and tickets are on sale at pumpkinblaze.org. “We’re thrilled to extend this extraordinary experience and provide a safe and spooky way to celebrate the Halloween season right here in Nassau County,” said Nassau County Executive Laura Curran. “The outpouring of interest and success of Blaze really is incredible and a testament to the hard work of my team and Historic Hudson Valley. And the robust demand helps ensure this spectacular event will return to the County’s Old Bethpage Village Restoration for years to

A small team of artists hand-carves more than 7,000 jacks and elaborate pumpkin sculptures, including huge displays like a replica of the
Montauk Lighthouse and a giant sea serpent. In addition to its debut on Long Island, the Blaze is continuing in its 16th year at Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-onHudson, NY, a National Historic Landmark owned and operated by Historic Hudson Valley. To meet demand, the organization is adding extra dates there as well. Blaze takes place entirely outdoors, is touch-free, uses timed admission, and features a one-way walkthrough path with no places to congregate. Capacity is reduced by 67%, allowing visitors to enjoy their time as safely and socially distanced as possible. All staff and visitors must wear a mask when on site. All visitors are required to agree to Historic Hudson Valley’s COVID Courtesy Code, which includes wearing a mask and maintaining at least 6 feet of social distancing. Proceeds support the programs of Historic Hudson Valley and Old Bethpage Village Restoration.
