Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York (Little Flower) is a human services organization that transforms caring into action to deliver services, programs and direction to improve the lives of children and families in crisis and people with developmental and intellectual disabilities across New York City and Long Island. Little Flower’s mission is to improve the well-being of those they serve, which they do through rigorous medical and mental health programs and services. They believe that the devastating effects of trauma, poverty, racism, substance abuse, violence and lack of opportunity – particularly on children and families – can be healed with the proven use of effective therapy and support services. They provide care through a “What’s happened to you?” lens as opposed to “What is wrong with you?” lens. Children who have experienced trauma, grief and loss, substance abuse, or have poor social skills, are verbally or physically aggressive, are on the autism spectrum, etc. are offered integrated interdisciplinary treatment in a therapeutic environment at the Residential Treatment Center (RTC) on their Wading River campus. An interdisciplinary treatment team of social workers, mental health staff, childcare staff, educators, medical professionals and a recreation therapist formulate individualized treatment plans that address the speciﬁc needs of each of those children. The underlying belief of the center is that a healthy community helps heal. At the RTC, children reside in modern cottages designed to feel like home. The cottages include individual rooms, common areas, a large dining room and a kitchen. Recreational programming there includes the Conway Recreation Center, athletic ﬁelds and courts and an outdoor swimming pool. The youth can also participate in off-campus recreation activities such as volunteer services and community involvement. The RTC also offers additional therapies and services, such as the Culinary Arts

program or music and art therapy. Additionally, the youth also attend the Little Flower Union Free School District, a special act public school for students with special educational needs, which is also on their Wading River campus. Additionally, Little Flower also offers a Mental Health and Medical Department that utilizes a traumainformed, multi-systemic approach to support to all foster children. Adhering to best practices, nurses coordinate and monitor medical care, including overseeing weekly well-child clinic, and provide screenings, child and caregiver education, assist pediatricians with routine physicals and provide body checks as needed. Children receive dental services and are referred to specialists when recommended.

Juneteenth Festival Pop Up Shop Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the United States and has been celebrated by African-Americans since the late 1800s. It is a celebration of freedom that liberated all African Americans from slavery. This year to

commemorate the occasion entrepreneurs Star 23 Enterprise and Handbags by Denise are hosting a Juneteenth Festival Pop Up Shop on Saturday, June 18th from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Dominican

Village located at 565 Albany Avenue in Amityville. This is a family fun day that will include music, food, vendors, and entertainment, and admission is free.

YESCCC’s PACT Offers FREE eTIPS Training From Home! YES Community Counseling Center’s Partnering in Action Change for Tomorrow (PACT) Initiative is providing FREE online eTIPS on/off premises training to teach local servers and sellers of alcohol how to prevent drunk driving, underage drinking and alcohol misuse. The new eTIPS training can be taken outside of an employees’ assigned work schedules in the convenience of their own home and at their own pace! eTIPS is a New York State Liquor Authority (NYSLA)

Certified Alcohol Training Awareness Program (ATAP). eTIPS training is a self-paced, innovative approach to responsible alcohol training. The course allows participants to obtain the training anywhere, anytime. The NYSLA recommends all employees who serve or sell alcoholic beverages take ATAP. The new ATAP program is supported by Farmingdale State College’s Alcohol & Drug Abuse Prevention Team (ADAPT), Levittown Community Action Coalition (LCAC), Massapequa Takes Action

Coalition (MTAC), the Town of Hempstead, Town of Oyster Bay, the Nassau County Police Department and the Chambers of Commerce in Farmingdale, Levittown and the Massapequas. eTIPS is part of YESCCC’s PACT federal grant initiative and its partnering coalitions’ mission to reduce underage and binge drinking, intoxication and drunk driving. Ed and Brooke Attard own the Learning Experience Centers located in Ronkonkoma, Massapequa and Plainview. The schools provide early education and day care programs. The Centers focus on each of the six early stages of development from infant through to kindergarten. Each facility features classrooms and a playground that ensure a warm, nurturing, educational and stimulating environment to enable the children

to learn, be active and to interact with one another. The Attard family believes in giving back to the community they serve. They recently held a fundraiser at their three locations to grant wishes through the Make a Wish Foundation to three critically ill children. Their three Long Island based centers raised over $15,000 for the organization. “I think it is great that they raised so much money in a month and I commend them for their efforts and

good work,” said Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta. “The Make a Wish Foundation is a great organization and benefits so many children,” added Trotta. “The Attard’s demonstrate the meaning of community. Eastline Theatre Brings Free Shakespeare To Parks Across Long Island Beginning June 18 After last year’s inaugural tour of Romeo & Juliet, EastLine Theatre returns to those same sunny Italian streets for The Two Gentlemen of Verona. This rollicking take on Shakespeare’s classic comedy will feature original live music and tour to a dozen scenic locations across Long Island. All performances will be free, fun, and family friendly. “We started our outdoor Shakespeare program in 2021 as a response to the pandemic, in an effort to produce safe and accessible takes on classic
