“Blow, Gabriel, Blow.” Emmeline is the veteran actor of the group, having performed in more than two dozen shows already at Massapequa High School, Berner Middle School and with theater groups around Long Island. She said her character is very fun to portray, describing Reno Sweeney as classy but sassy. “For all the seniors,” Vincent added, “this is a good way to end our high school theater careers, because it is such as classic Broadway show.” Supporting Ms. Tauches are choreographer Danielle Coutieri, vocal director Craig Coyle, pit director Andy Dwork, production assistant Nichole Greene and senior stage manager Chris Varvi. Massapequa High School’s Drama Club is bringing old-school Broadway to the stage with its upcoming musical production of “Anything Goes.” Inperson performances are scheduled for March 3-5, featuring a cast of 43 students. “We wanted the student-actors and the pit musicians to have an experience doing a classic, fully-orchestrated show,” Director Katie Tauches said on choosing this year’s show. “We also have very talented dances so we wanted to feature tap as a

Some of their current programs and services are below: Counseling Services: YES CCC believe family involvement and assistance is an integral part of treatment for children, adolescents, and adults. After all, the greatest successes in treatment often occur when all family members recognize their role related to the presenting problem and are open to active participation in the healing and growing process. Addiction Services: Comprehensive treatment is available to children, adults and families facing the complex problems of chemical dependency, as well as DWI assessments and specialized recovery groups. Early Intervention Project: This program offers prevention and early intervention services to teens and their families at the beginning stages of their alcohol or drug experimentation or abuse. Available to residents within Nassau County Catchment Areas only. School-Based Services: YES Community Counseling Center provides Social

Work services to elementary school aged students in various school districts. WISH Program: Women In Shared Healing (WISH) provides comprehensive services for community members who have been physically, sexually and/or emotionally abused, as well as those effected by or witness to domestic violence. Prevention Services: These services are provided to youth, families, parents and community groups and are designed to reduce individual, family and community level risk factors and increase protective factors. Available to residents within Nassau County Catchment Areas only. YES CCC provides a ﬁnancial literacy program called Commerce Plaza to students throughout Long Island at their Levittown location. This unique program immerses students in a simulated business community with hands-on experience by assigning them roles and tasks that replicate actual work experience. Students learn about leadership, budgeting, operating a business, banking skills, and teamwork. Since opening in May 2000, Commerce Plaza has hosted over 69,000 students from school districts on Long Island. Available to students in both Suffolk County and Nassau County. Labriola And Maier Urge Residents To Donate Blood As National Shortage Impacts Hospitals With hospitals facing a nationwide blood shortage, Oyster Bay Town Councilman Steve Labriola and Town Councilwoman Laura Maier invite residents to attend a Blood Collection Drive on Thursday, March 10th from 1pm to 7pm at the Hicksville Athletic Center, located at 167 S. Broadway in Hicksville. Councilman Labriola stated, “Blood supplies have seriously dwindled as a result of the COVID-19 health pandemic and are critically needed for local hospitals to meet the demand and continue saving lives. Please consider participating in this blood drive to help bolster our blood banks and ensure as many

people as possible can be helped. Together, we can give the gift of life though a simple blood donation.” Appointments are preferred for the Town’s Blood Drive. To qualify as a donor, a person must be between the ages of 17 and 75 years old (16 with parental permission and 76 or older with a doctor’s note), weigh at least 110 pounds and not have donated blood within the last 56 days. Anyone who received a tattoo within the past 12 months is ineligible to donate. It is recommended that donors eat well (low fat) and drink fluids in the days before the Blood Drive. Additionally, all donors will receive a voucher for a free Blizzard at Dairy Queen.

Councilwoman Maier added, “It’s quick, easy, and safe to donate a single pint of blood which can save up to three lives. Donating blood at the Hicksville Athletic Center, is an incredible way for all of us to pitch in and give back, to help ease the burden of our Healthcare Heroes as they continue to provide lifesaving efforts.” For additional information regarding the Town’s Blood Drive, contact the Town’s Public Information Office at (516) 624-6380. Long Island Blues Winter Classic Special Hockey Tournament Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino announced that the 11th Annual Town of Oyster Bay Long Island Blues Winter Classic will take place on Saturday, March 5th at the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center. This special event showcases LI Blues hockey players with special needs enjoying a game they love verse three other teams from the tri-state area. The public is welcome to attend and admission is free of charge. The tournament will consist of six games that will take place throughout the day between the four teams. “The LI Blues is an inspiring hockey program in which children and young adults with developmental disabilities play ice hockey in a wonderful setting,” said Supervisor Saladino. “This LI Blues organization

brings all the fun of playing ice hockey to athletes with special needs, and this Winter Classic Tournament is the perfect way to highlight their inspirational stories. Three other teams, the York Polar Bears, the New Jersey Dare Devils and the Nova Cool Cats will be participating and the Town welcomes these teams to the Town of Oyster Bay. We invite residents to come to this event and cheer on the LI Blues. Polar Plunge Returns To TOBAY Beach Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilman Lou Imbroto invite residents to be “Freezin’ for a Reason” at the annual Polar Plunge benefitting the Special Olympics New York on Saturday, March 19th at TOBAY Beach. The event, originally scheduled for earlier in the month, will include COVID-safety protocols and pre-assigned time slots. “Many of our residents head to TOBAY Beach for summer fun, but this event provides an enjoyable and charitable reason to spend a great day at the beach much sooner,” said Supervisor Saladino. “Participants will have an opportunity to prove their mettle and their compassion by wading into the chilly waters of TOBAY Beach to raise funds for the athletes of Special Olympics New York.”

With the safety of participants being the highest priority for both Special Olympics and the Town of Oyster Bay, this year’s plunge will once again include numerous safety measures to protect all plungers and spectators. All participants will be given specific plunge times and parameters during their registration, which begins at 9:30 a.m., with plunging times beginning at 11 a.m. Requested donation is $25 per participant. Plungers who raise $150 receive a commemorative Polar Plunge sweatshirt. All funds raised at the event support Special Olympics New York’s programs and promote awareness of people living with intellectual disabilities in New York. Proceeds will help to provide year-round sports training and competition in over 22 Olympic-style

sports for more than 66,835 children and adults with intellectual disabilities living in New York, giving them continuing opportunities at no cost to them or their families. “This polar plunge is sure to create lasting memories for all participants while supporting a very worthwhile cause,” added Councilman Imbroto. “Special Olympics New York changes lives through the joy of sports and the Town of Oyster Bay is proud to partner with this outstanding organization to help make this event a success. As a part of the Town’s commitment to digitizing services for the convenience of all, these online reservations are valid for picnics at Marjorie R. Post Community Park

in Massapequa, Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park and Beach in Oyster Bay, Harry Tappen Beach and Marina in Glenwood Landing, SyossetWoodbury Community Park, and Plainview-Old Bethpage Community Park. “Our beautiful Town Parks are the perfect location for a family,

school, or community group outing set in the great outdoors. Each location, from Teddy Roosevelt Beach in Oyster Bay to Marjorie Post Park in Massapequa, offers something unique for residents to enjoy,” Councilman Hand said. “Thanks to the hard work of our Parks Department, the process to apply

for a picnic permit has now been streamlined to increase convenience and accessibility for residents.” Picnic Permits are required for groups of 25 or more at all Town of Oyster Bay picnic pavilion locations and include exclusive use of the permitted area from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM on the

reservation date. Some locations are covered, have access to water, and permit barbequing. To view picnic availability, residents can visit OysterBayTown. com/Picnic and filter their preferred date, facility, specific location, and features using the page menu. They can then create an account

The vocal talents of Massapequa High School senior Nicole Ferretti earned her a selection to the prestigious All-National Honors Ensemble mixed choir, and she attended a virtual conference in late January hosted by the National Association for Music Education. Nicole was part of the soprano section. In addition to performing with student-musicians from across the country, she also attended master classes on different topics such as music composition, music education and applying music theory to performance. There were several guest speakers and Nicole said one of the highlights for her was hearing from composer Eric Whitacre. For her audition, Nicole submitted a video of herself singing “Do Not Go, My Love” by Richard Hageman and “Through the House Give Glimmering Light” by Quire Cleveland. Nicole is a member of several vocal groups at Massapequa High School including the A Cappella Choir and the Chordettes. She also plays the cello in the symphony orchestra and has a lead role in the upcoming musical production of “Anything
