Toddler Arts & Crafts Program Continued From 3 artistic expression,” said Councilwoman Johnson. “Classes fill up quickly on a first-come, first-serve basis, so register today!” The Toddler Arts & Crafts Program is 6 weeks in duration, beginning February 11th, and residents who sign their toddler up for the program must choose one class per week, per child. Classes will take place on Tuesdays at 10am (two year olds only); Tuesdays at 11am (three and four year olds); Wednesdays at 10am (two year olds only); Wednesdays at 11am or 1:30pm (three and four year olds); Thursdays at 10am (two year olds only); and Thursday at 11am (three and four year olds).

Each class is approximately 30 minutes to an hour long. The cost of the program is $25 per child who is a Town resident, and $30 per child whose care giver is a Town resident but not the child. Space is limited and upon registration, the child’s birth certificate and a tax or utility bill will be required to validate age and proof of residency. A guardian must be present during the class. A smock and supplies will be provided with enrollment. The Toddler’s Arts & Crafts Program is run by the Town’s Parks Department, Recreation Division. Supervisor Joseph Saladino has announced that applications are now available for families to add the names of loved ones to the Town of Oyster Bay’s 9/11 Walls of Honor which recognize all those with a connection to the Town who gave their lives and succumbed in their battle against 9/11 related cancers and illness. Each year, the Town inscribes into the Walls of Honor the names of family members, friends and neighbors lost to this toxic legacy. Supervisor Saladino stated, “We remember and give thanks to those who ran into danger in order to help the victims of a cowardly act of terror. This includes first responders, downtown workers, residents, students and so many others with cancer certified to be 9/11-related. The events of 9/11 continue to take

The YMCA of Long Island is a leading non-profit organization that works daily to improve lives through programs and services that nurture youth, foster healthy living and inspire social responsibility. Simply put, their mission is to improve the quality of life of children, adults and families through programs that develop body, mind and spirit. The Y of Long Island has many different branches: East Hampton, Patchogue, Holtsville, Huntington, Bay Shore and Glen Cove. They also run the Boulton Center for the Performing Arts in Bay Shore and the YMCA Family Services (a counseling center) in Holtsville. This January they kicked off their Annual Support Campaign, which provides scholarships to children, teens, adults, seniors and families in need. These scholarships provide access to the YMCA for membership, programs and services such as swim lessons, pre-school, before and after school, summer day camp, health and wellness programs and chronic disease prevention and recovery programs such as LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA for cancer survivors, Moving for Better Balance, a fall prevention program, EnhanceFitness for people with arthritis and more. The Y believes that when people come together for a common cause, the entire community is strengthened. When someone becomes

a volunteer, they have the opportunity to share their blessings with those who need it most. You can take an active role in strengthening your community by volunteering at the Y! Students Get An Up Close Look At Law Enforcement

More than 50 police officers, first responders and law enforcement professionals visited Unqua Elementary School in the Massapequa School District on Jan. 9, sharing insight into their jobs and showcasing many of the tools they use on a daily basis. Law Enforcement Appreciation Day is a national initiative to show support for men and women who dedicate their lives to keeping communities safe. For the fourth year in a row, Unqua welcomed officers from numerous agencies including the Nassau County Police Department, New York City Police Department,

Port Authority Police and corrections officers. Students got to learn about specialized units such as the bomb squad, emergency ambulance bureau and canine unit during assembly programs and classroom visits. Many of the visiting police officers included family members of Unqua students, who were proud to talk about their careers and share interesting stories. They showed some of the equipment they use from helmets and bulletproof vests to handcuffs and radios. In a greeting room for officers, there was a Christmas tree decorated with paper police shields

colored by students. A video continuously played featuring Flipgrid recordings by students who spoke about the reasons they are appreciative of law enforcement personnel. Assistant Principal Laura Hulsaver coordinated the police officer visits and fifth grade student council members, under the direction of advisers Leanne Leder and Deanna Musacchia, prepared goody bags for the guests. Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino today announced that the Town’s Department of Community and Youth Services will be offering free musical performances during the month of January 2020 at local libraries throughout the Town to continue the 20192020 Distinguished Artists Concert Series, which will continue to run monthly through May 2020. “The Town’s Distinguished Artists Concert Series has proven to be one of our most popular and
