Children’s Coats Drive Help a Child Keep Warm This Winter Youth of Ethical Societies (YES) is collecting children’s coats (used and new) until December 22 to be distributed to children in need through Ethical Friends of Children (EFOC), a volunteer program that has been providing clothing and children’s furniture to Long Island families for 36 years.

To address food insecurity during the upcoming holiday season, NICE Bus (Nassau InterCounty Express) has donated more than $14,000 in food and cash to Island Harvest, Long Island’s largest hunger relief organization. At the conclusion of a two-week campaign prior to the Bethpage Annual Turkey Drive which supports Island Harvest, NICE delivered 10 pallets of canned and dried goods – more than 5,000 items which is the equivalent of 37 full shopping carts – donated by NICE employees as well as NICE Bus riders through collection boxes at its Garden City center and the Hempstead Transit Center. Labriola And Maier Urge Residents To Donate Blood As Supplies Are Needed To help hospitals meet the ongoing and pressing need for blood, Oyster Bay Town Councilman Steve Labriola and Town Councilwoman Laura Maier invite residents to attend a Blood Collection Drive on Monday, December 20th from 1pm to 7pm at the Hicksville Athletic Center, located at 167 S. Broadway in Hicksville. Councilman Labriola stated, “This holiday season, I am urging residents to give a little extra and donate blood that can save lives. Blood supplies have seriously dwindled as a result of the COVID-19 health pandemic and are critically needed for local hospitals to meet the demand and continue saving lives. this blood drive to help bolster our blood banks and ensure as many people as possible can be helped.” Appointments are preferred for the Town’s Blood Drive.
