Leaves that fall from trees can be a marvel to behold, but leaves can stain exterior surfaces when they eventually settle on vehicles, concrete driveways, patios, and other surfaces, become wet and/ or are not cleaned away in a timely fashion. Leaf stains are caused by tannins in the leaves. The pigments can be absorbed by porous materials like concrete and leave stains behind. While these stains may wash away over time, homeowners may prefer a faster way to get rid of unsightly stains. To remove moderate leaf stains, mix oxygen bleach with hot water and apply to stains using a scrub brush. Dark stains may require a tougher cleanser, such as one that contains trisodium phosphate. Shopping Party Fundraiser Uniquely Yours in Seaford is a contemporary women’s clothing store that has made it a priority to keep the real woman in mind since first opening its doors in 2016. They are an inclusive clothing store with options for all women, ranging from petite to plus sizes. On September 28, Uniquely Yours hosted a shopping party where portions of proceeds went to the Center for Developmental Disabilities, Inc. in Woodbury. Owner Linda Rhoades accommodated the event and even stayed open later than anticipated. Refreshments and snacks were provided as well. The Bethpage Turkey Drive to benefit the Island Harvest Food Bank will take place on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM at Bethpage’s headquarters located at 899 South Oyster Bay Road in Bethpage. This year marks the 15th anniversary of Long Island’s largest one-day food drive which to date, has donated more than 45,000 turkeys and over 200,000 pounds of food over 15 years to Island Harvest which helps supply Thanksgiving holiday meals to families in our community. Mike runs a home based business, and that is also very much welcomed in our chamber.

New Pickleball Court Completed At John Burns Park Additional Courts Being Installed Throughout Town

Oyster Bay Town Councilman Steve Labriola announced that a new pickleball court has been completed at John Burns Park in Massapequa. The court is the latest among several that have been constructed at various parks facilities throughout the Town, with even more courts coming soon. “The demand for pickleball courts

has increased in neighborhoods all over our Town as the sport has become a favorite among residents of all ages,” said Councilman Labriola. “Pickleball is a fun, social and healthy activity for the whole family and new playing surfaces are a welcome addition to the community.” Pickleball combines the elements of tennis,

badminton and ping pong, and has become a favorite in many communities. The game is played with a wooden paddle and lightweight plastic ball and can include two, three or four players. The dimensions and layout closely resemble a badminton court, which is considerably smaller than a tennis court.

Town Seeds Oyster Bay Harbor With 12 Million Bay Oyster And Clam Seeds waters on the Town’s north shore to deposit the remaining one million of the roughly 12 million clam and oyster seedlings that the Town planted into

Oyster Bay throughout 2023. The Town grows out the seedlings at its Shellfish Hatchery until they mature enough to be transferred into FLUPSY

locations and grow-out areas where they can fully mature. “Oyster Bay Harbor is one of the crown jewels of Oyster Bay, and we

are proud to be doing more than ever before to improve its water quality,” said Supervisor Saladino. “Programs like these help bolster the local economy

while improving water quality. These efforts help preserve the natural beauty of our local waterways for generations to come.”
