Dents in a seam can let in air and bacteria. Deep dents may have left pinholes, again where bacteria can enter.

Blue Umbrella Experience (BUE) is a local nonproﬁt organization that offers a variety of interactive and engaging community classes for youth, young adults and individuals through their Above and Beyond Community Class initiative. Their goal is that students will enjoy learning while also connecting with others.

“Shootout for Soldiers” 24-Hour Charitable Lacrosse Game Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board will host the 7th Annual “Shootout for Soldiers” 24-Hour Lacrosse Benefit Game at the Town of Oyster Bay’s Field of Dreams, located on Old Sunrise Highway in Massapequa. This year’s round-the-clock event begins on the morning

of July 22nd at 9am and continues non-stop for 24 hours until July 23rd at 9am. The event benefits veterans and active duty military personnel. The Long Island Air Force Association will conduct a special ceremony on July 22nd at 5:00 pm to honor Vietnam veterans and present them with medals that commemorate their

service in the conflict. Adding to the spectacle, will be a parachute landing on the field conducted by the “All Veterans Group,” which will deliver the official ball. Supervisor Saladino stated, “Shootout for Soldiers is a terrific game that provides local lacrosse

I congratulate all the members businesses that have children or grandchildren who graduated college or high school this year. If they received any scholarships, I applaud them and wish them the best. We have just secured two more grants for the Chamber. Patty Orzano is still working hard on these efforts, and we all owe her a debt of gratitude for all of her work in this area.

Coach Serrano said he wants his wrestlers to understand the value of a college education and get them thinking about their posthigh school plans. “Wrestling will go away, but your college degree and what you do for a living won’t,” he said. Coach Serrano and his assistants are in the running for the national coaching staff of the year award in wrestling from the National Federation of State High School Associations. As New York State’s winners, they advanced the national competition, with the winning coaching staff to be announced in September. “Through the help and guidance of our entire coaching staff, we were able to make a season with a disappointing outlook into one of our best,” Daniel said. Going into the 2021-22 season, Coach Serrano said the team has the ability to win another county championship. Stepping into senior leadership roles in the coming year will be Carlos Arango, Anthony Conetta, Tom DiGennaro and Jacob Menichini.

Catholic Cemeteries of Long Island is offering families of victims and first responders to add loved ones’ names to its 9-11 Memorial as part of the 20th year remembrance of the September 11th Terrorist Attacks on America. The Memorial monument, located within Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, was erected in 2003 and currently displays the names of 414 individuals who were victims of the 9-11 terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center and individuals who worked to rescue and recover the victims at Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan. Family members who lost loved ones are encouraged to submit their names using a special form with required information and attestation. The deceased’s full name and optionally, their profession or role, will be added to the memorial. All forms must be submitted and arrive by email or mail by July 31, 2021. The form is available online at https:// CCLongIsland.org/9-11memorial/. Those who lost their lives later due to health conditions and exposure at Ground Zero and lower Manhattan are also eligible. “As we approach the 20th year since 9-11, we know that many people remain profoundly impacted. Our memorial wall at Holy

Rood Cemetery is a place of solace, reflection and tribute to the lives that were tragically lost. Located in a specially designated area at the cemetery, the Memorial will be the site of a special outdoor mass which will be presided over by Diocese of Rockville Centre Bishop John Barres on September 11th this year,” said Richard Bie, CEO of Catholic Cemeteries of Long Island. Catholic Cemeteries of Long Island’s 9-11 memorial is a beautiful black marble sculpture that is the center piece of a specially designated area of the cemetery which was set aside for victims of the terrorist attacks. Inscription on the memorial is provided by Catholic Cemeteries at no cost to the families, and the individuals do not have to be Catholic for inclusion.
