The Head Injury Association also offers support and services to help navigate the eligibility process and throughout the application phase to assist in accessing supports and services offered through Head Injury Association. It also offers employment services, with Adult Career and Continuing Education ServicesVocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) to achieve and maintain employment, and to support independent living through training, education, rehabilitation and career development. Another Kinexion afﬁliate organization is the Center for Developmental Disabilities, located in Woodbury. “We help children and adults overcome

barriers to living, working, learning and enjoying recreational opportunities in the community of their choice,” says Jay Silverstein, Ph.D., Executive Director of The Center. “We are dedicated to the achievement of excellence and innovation within a community based upon respect, kindness and open communication.” The center offers a variety of diverse programs include a Children’s Day Program, which operates 12 months a year and serving children ages 5-21 who have an educational classiﬁcation of Autism, Intellectual Disability or Multiple Disabilities. The classroom curriculum covers academic subjects such as English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, while also fostering the development of each student’s daily living skills and social skills. Computer and technology education are a part of each classroom’s weekly schedule. The Center also launched the “Support with Dignity” initiative to enhance opportunities for individuals to live with greater independence within their communities. This initiative embraces three pillars: Respectful Interactions, Promoting Independence and fostering Purposeful, Person-Centered Activities. Through a collective commitment to best practices in the ﬁeld, the Center will advance the hopes and dreams of the individuals it serves. Massapequa Child Study Students Farmingdale Adult Day Care Center Hosting Preschool Program Serving The Community For Over 25 Years The Farmingdale Adult Day Care Center is a non-profit interfaith service that provides support for the elderly. The organization has been serving the community for over 25 years and is a cooperative of Farmingdale United Methodist Church, St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, St. Kilian’s Roman Catholic Church and St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. They offer socialization and stimulation for individuals 60 years old and above with physical and/or memory impairment, generally Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia. Activities they offer include arts and crafts, live entertainment, group exercise, pet therapy, blackboard

activities and small group workshops called “Motivate The Minds”. Their clients are provided with assistance with everyday functions such as ambulatory needs and they also offer twice a month support group meetings for their caregivers. The Farmingdale Adult Day Care Center proudly holds Open Houses every Tuesday and Thursday, where they offer refreshments while you can learn about everything they offer. Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and his colleagues on the Town Board recently recognized Gina Cantatore, of North Massapequa, for her athletic and academic accomplishments both spanning the entirety of her four years at the University of Delaware. Gina won the UCA National Collegiate Cheerleading Championship for four consecutive years as a

member of the University of Delaware Blue Hens, all the while she earned a top spot on the Dean’s list for four consecutive years, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. “Gina’s passion for cheerleading was ignited when she joined the Plainedge Bobcat’s Cheerleading team. Her dedication to academic success was fostered and flourished during her time

in the Plainedge School District,” said Supervisor Saladino. “Gina is a shining example of a homegrown superstar, and we are so excited to see what she does next.” Gina is one of only six seniors on the Blue Hens Cheerleading Team to earn a championship ring as a first, second, third, and fourth year student, and she is set to begin dental school in the fall.

I look forward to seeing everyone on event day, and I encourage any one of any age or riding ability to sign up for the event, as three course routes will be featured.” The event will feature 3 course lengths: a 10mile route spanning the shoreline from Bayville to Centre Island (ideal for family and children), a 25mile route featuring the scenic rolling hills from Bayville through Locust Valley, Glen Cove and Old Brookville (for more experienced riders) and a 62-mile route through Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Roslyn Harbor, to Port Washington, and then all the way to Teddy Roosevelt’s

home at Sagamore Hill (for advanced cyclists). By participating in Empire State Ride Long Island, bicyclists will have an opportunity to make a real impact on cancer research and patient care through clinical trials at these locations. In 2021, over $100,000 was raised by nearly 250 riders. Registration is now open for this fundraising event with a $25 fee for each participant. Riders will commit to a fundraising minimum which is $200 for adults and $75 for riders under 18 for all routes. To kick start each rider’s efforts, their $25 registration fee will be credited to their fundraising page. Durso Announces Summer Reading Challenge The New York State Assembly’s 2022 Summer Reading Challenge is here, and Assemblyman Michael Durso (Massapequa Park) is encouraging students in New York and across Long Island to participate. Assemblyman Durso, in coordination with New York State libraries, is sponsoring this Summer Reading Challenge to inspire kids to explore far-off worlds, discover new interests or learn new skills. Over one million children and teens participated in the Summer Reading Challenge last year and we are looking for more young individuals to join for this year’s theme

“Oceans of Possibilities,” celebrating all things water and ocean-related. “Summer break is a great time for kids to visit their local library and check out the exciting activities and books they have to offer,” said Durso. “I am encouraging and challenging my own kids and students in my district to continue learning over the summer by picking up a book. ‘Dressed to Kilt’ Charity Fashion Show Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino recently announced that ‘Dressed to Kilt,’ the most prestigious and exciting Scottish fashion event in the world, will be coming to the Town of Oyster Bay. Dressed to Kilt, founded by Scottish actor Sir Sean Connery in 2003, is an annual charity fashion show that raises funds to benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation. The show will take place on the evening of Saturday July
