The Nassau County Legislature Rules Committee has approved a resolution that confirms Nassau County’s commitment to fund a half million dollar matching grant that will permit the Museum of American Armor to build a much needed maintenance/repair facility behind its main building inside Old Bethpage Village Restoration. Proposed by Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, the Legislature’s Presiding Officer Richard Nicolello moved the grant resolution in a bipartisan show of support for the Armor Museum and its mission. The matching half million dollar county grant is being met by corporate and private donations that will allow construction to commence this spring. Students Entertain Seniors With Holiday Tunes

A holiday tradition returned to Massapequa High School this year as local senior citizens were invited to a free musical performance on Dec. 13. The afternoon concert was a preview of the high school’s nighttime winter showcase, “An Evening of Holiday Music,” on Dec. 15-16. Welcoming the crowd to the newly renovated auditorium were interim Superintendent of Schools Brian Conboy, Director of Fine and Performing Arts Vincent Green and Principal Barbara Lowell. The concert opened with the Treble Choir singing a traditional German carol, “Kling Glöckchen, Kling.” The singers, under the direction of Ilena Dempsey, also performed a Hanukkah song, “Hanerot Halalu,” and “Do You Hear What I Hear?” Up next was the orchestra, conducted by Marjorie Spagnuolo. The string musicians delighted the crowd with “Sleigh Ride” and “A Mad Russian’s Christmas.” Mozart’s “Gloria In Excelsis” was the first number for the a cappella choir, led by Nichole Greene. They also song “Bidi Bom,” “Away” and “Be a Light.” The three groups, which

Being one of the largest rehabilitation facilities in the region, during the 2020/2021 cold stun season, the NYMRC took in an additional 29 sea turtles from network partners due to limited space within the network. Additionally, the center is expanding its educational programs to reach schools not only on Long Island but in Florida and Puerto Rico, expanding knowledge of marine ecosystems and inspiring young people to

United States Navy Blue Angels To Headline 18th Annual Bethpage Air Show Bethpage Federal Credit Union, New York State’s largest credit union, and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, are very pleased to announce that the United States Navy Blue Angels will headline the 18th Annual Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach taking place on Saturday, May 28, 2022 and Sunday, May 29, 2022. performing, two native New Yorkers on the Blue Angels’ team, and a host of other noted pilots on board, this year’s show is going to be spectacular!” “Bethpage is very proud to be a part of this special air show that has grown to become one of the most beloved air shows in the country,” said Linda Armyn, Senior Vice President, Bethpage Federal Credit Union. “The addition of the Golden Knights, the Royal Canadian Snowbirds, and the F-22 Raptor, leading up to the Blues as the

headliner, will make a great show for the fans this year.” It was also announced that the United States Air Force Thunderbirds will return as headliners for the 19th Annual Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach, which will take place on Sunday, May 27, 2023 and Monday, May 28, 2023. Air Show at Jones Beach will be the U.S. Navy Blue Angel’s 9th appearance as headliners at the show. Over 367,000 people attended the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach the last time the squadron headlined in 2018. The U.S. Navy Blue Angels were also scheduled to perform again in 2020 when the show was cancelled

due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Instead, the team participated in the first Bethpage Virtual Air Show in 2020 by recording special video messages for fans and providing exclusive video footage. Additional 2022 performers will be announced shortly.
