Long island Premiere

Program begins April 14th and is 6 weeks in duration. Residents who sign their toddler up for the program must choose one class per week, per child. Classes will take place on: • Tuesdays at 10:00 am for two-year-olds, and 11:00 am for threeand-four-year-olds at the Hicksville Athletic Center in Hicksville; • Wednesdays at 10:00 am for two-year-olds, and 11:00 am for threeand-four-year-olds at the Ice Skating Center Community Room in Bethpage; • Thursdays at 10:00 am for two-year-olds, and 11:00 am for threeand-four-year-olds at the Ice Skating Center Community Room in Bethpage. Beginning at 9:00am on Wednesday, March 18th, registration will be

available online through the Parks Registration Portal at oysterbaytown. com/portal. Space is limited- first come, first serve. Registration will close when the program reaches full capacity. Each class is approximately 45 minutes. The cost of the program is $35 per child who is a Town resident, and $45 per child whose care giver is a Town resident but not the child. The child’s birth certificate and a tax or utility bill will be required to validate age and proof of residency. A guardian must be present during the class. A smock and supplies will be provided with enrollment. The final day to request a refund for this program will be April 23, 2026. The Toddler Arts & Crafts Program is run by the Town’s Parks Department, Recreation Division. For further information, please call (516) 797-7945.

The Massapequa Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed Gluten Free Treat Shop to the community with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. Chamber members, local residents, and supporters gathered to celebrate the opening of the new business, which offers a variety of gluten-free baked goods and treats for the community to enjoy. The shop is located at 518 Broadway in Massapequa. On hand for the celebration were owner Jenna Vanacore; Massapequa Chamber President Robin Hepworth; First Vice President Sal Polito; Treasurer Karen Gawyrch; Board of Directors members Randi Jankowski, Tom Antonetti, and Isabelle Rapacciuolo; and Nassau County Legislator James Kennedy.

A Hearty Stew Tailor-Made For St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations St. Patrick’s Day is a festive day in which people from all walks of life embrace Irish culture. Celebrated right in the middle of March, St. Patrick’s Day calls for hearty fare that those who have been to the Emerald Isle know is a staple of the Irish diet. This year, anyone looking to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and stay warm in the process, can enjoy this recipe for “Irish Stew With Lamb and Potatoes” courtesy of Lines+Angles.

Irish Stew With Lamb and Potatoes Serves 6 3

tablespoons vegetable oil

1 3⁄4 pound lamb neck, on the bon

DIRECTIONS:

1. Heat the oil in a large pot and sear the meat. Remove from the pan and set aside.

2. Cook the onions and carrots in the pan for 3 minutes. Return the meat to the pot, season with salt and ground black pepper and deglaze with the stock. Cover and simmer on a low heat for 40 minutes.

Having raised my two boys here in Massapequa, some of my favorite memories have always been the community events that bring our neighbors together. As we head into March, the Chamber has already been busy recognizing the people who make our community so special.

Congratulations to our well-deserving honorees: From the Massapequa Fire Department, Ex-Captain and Department Chaplain Ben Diventi. From the North Massapequa Fire Department, Firefighter John Gennardo and Fire Medic Stephanie Seltzer of Engine Company #3. As we move forward into 2026, we are thrilled to host our Second Annual Massapequa Chamber of Commerce St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 14, 2026. The parade kicks off at 11:00am and the route will begin at Broadway and Jerusalem Avenue and proceed south on Broadway to Veterans Boulevard. With just a few short weeks away, we invite all Chamber member businesses, Massapequa schools, and community organizations to march and participate in what we hope will become a cherished annual tradition. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our vibrant community, showcase local pride, and bring residents together in the spirit of unity and festivity. We are honored to have Brian Kilmeade of FOX News, a longtime Massapequa resident, as our Grand Marshal for this special event. If you love the beach and want to help protect our shoreline, residents are invited to join Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilman Andrew Monteleone at the Town’s annual Dune Day on Saturday, March 28th, at 10 a.m. at TOBAY Beach. This hands-on environmental initiative helps stabilize beach dunes by planting dune grass, which serves as a natural shield against storm surges and erosion. Strong dunes mean a stronger coastline, helping to protect TOBAY Beach. “Our Dune Stabilization Project brings together

volunteers of all ages in a meaningful effort to protect and preserve our beautiful shoreline,” said Supervisor Saladino. “It’s a great opportunity for students, Scouts, and nature lovers to make a real difference while enjoying the outdoors.” Dune Day is a fun and rewarding experience for families, school groups, and environmentally conscious residents. Volunteers will work alongside Town officials and crews, learning firsthand how simple actions can have a lasting impact on coastal preservation. Councilman Monteleone added, “This is a wonderful initiative which brings the

community together to make a lasting impact on the environment. Toddler Sports Program For Spring Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman Laura Maier announced today that the Toddler Sports Program will return this spring, beginning April 14th. This 6-week program offers sports classes at the Hicksville Athletic Center for children ages 3 and 4. The Toddler Sports Program begins April 14th and is 6 weeks in duration. Residents who sign their toddler up for the program must choose one class per week, per child. Classes will take place on: Tuesdays at 10am or 11am at the Hicksville Athletic Center in

Hicksville; and Thursdays at 10am or 11am at the Hicksville Athletic Center in Hicksville. Beginning at 9:00am on Wednesday, March 18th, registration will be available online through the Parks Registration Portal at oysterbaytown. com/sports. Space is limited- first come, first serve. Registration will close when the program reaches full capacity. Each class is approximately 50 minutes. The cost of the program is $75 per child who is a Town resident, and $90 per child

whose care giver is a Town resident but not the child. The child’s birth certificate and a tax or utility bill will be required to validate age and proof of residency. A guardian must be present during the class. The child MUST be 3 years old by the start of the program. The last day to request a refund for this program will be April 23, 2026.
