In preparation for the Fifth Annual Lindenhurst St. Patrick’s Parade, Wellwood Avenue will soon once again be festively adorned with waving Irish and U.S. flags!
The 2026 Parade will take place on Saturday, March 21st at 12:00 PM (rain date: March 28th) and will be led by 2026 Grand Marshal Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.
District Attorney Tierney is a career prosecutor who has served for more than 30 years at both the state and federal levels and was first elected Suffolk County District Attorney in 2021 and reelected in 2025. Throughout his career in public service, he has remained committed to protecting the residents of Suffolk County and upholding the law with integrity and accountability. Knights of Columbus Council #794, the Suffolk County Department of Economic Development and Planning, the Village of Lindenhurst, and WealthWave Financial Group, among many others, the Fifth Annual Lindenhurst St. Patrick’s Parade will once again feature hundreds of Irish pipers, drummers, dancers, local firefighters, scouting troops,
fraternal organizations, community groups, businesses, and elected officials marching down Wellwood Avenue through the beautiful and historic Lindenhurst Downtown Business District.
The Parade will begin at Lindenhurst Fireman’s Park, travel west on Hartford Street, turn south onto Wellwood Avenue, and conclude at Gates Avenue. Parking along Wellwood Avenue will be restricted on Parade Day, and cross streets along the parade route will be barricaded beginning at approximately 10:00 AM.
The Lindenhurst St. Patrick’s Parade was conceived by Parade Committee Co-Presidents Restaurateur David Crowe & Suffolk County Legislator RJ Renna. Also serving on the Parade Committee are former Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer Kevin McCaffrey and Committee Secretary Katie Schrader.

Weckerle Park is named in honor of Lieutenant Edward Weckerle -- a long-time Lindenhurst resident, decorated World War I hero, fire department captain and police lieutenant. The park was dedicated in his honor in November of 1958 when his brother donated the land for the purpose of a park.

A Hearty Stew Tailor-Made For St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations
St. Patrick’s Day is a festive day in which people from all walks of life embrace Irish culture. Celebrated right in the middle of March, St. Patrick’s Day calls for hearty fare that those who have been to the Emerald Isle know is a staple of the Irish diet. This year, anyone looking to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and stay warm in the process, can enjoy this recipe for “Irish Stew With Lamb and Potatoes” courtesy of Lines+Angles.
DIRECTIONS:
1. Heat the oil in a large pot and sear the meat. Remove from the pan and set aside.
2. Cook the onions and carrots in the pan for 3 minutes. Return the meat to the pot, season with salt and ground black pepper and deglaze with the stock. Cover and simmer on a low heat for 40 minutes.

1 3⁄4 pound lamb neck, on the bone, thickly sliced
4 small onions, diced
2 carrots, sliced
6 cups beef stock
8 to 10 small waxy potatoes, halved or quartered depending on size
1 to 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
3. Add the potatoes to the pot, cover and cook for another 30 minutes until the potatoes are soft. Season to taste and serve garnished with parsley.

There’s much to celebrate on the Spring Equinox, which is also referred to as the “Vernal Equinox” or the “March Equinox” and marks the official beginning of spring, a season many people associate with rejuvenation and longer hours of daylight. One unusual aspect of the equinoxes (the Autumnal Equinox in September ushers in the beginning of fall) is these days feature the fastest sunsets and sunrises of the year. According to Earthsky. org, this phenomenon occurs because the sun rises due east and sets due west on the equinoxes, which means the setting sun hits the horizon at its steepest possible angle. That steep angle leads to a very short sunrise and sunset on the equinoxes. Traditionally, we celebrate the first day of spring on March 21, but astronomers and calendar manufacturers alike now say that the spring season starts on March 20 in all time zones in North America.
