They are so excited to be hosting their first Community Share Day on Saturday, September 18th with the Huntington Assembly of God! This will be a fun and engaging new way for their kindhearted, caring donors to connect with the families that they serve in their beautiful Huntington Station community. How does it work? You register online for a time slot. Then you neatly pack your car with the items you would like to share with the community, such as clothing, toys, household items, unexpired nonperishable food and any other items in good/new condition. Clothing must not be ripped, torn, or stained, missing buttons, or broken zippers. If you would like to give gift cards to families you may, but they ask that no cash is given. Also, no large electronics or furniture please. You can sign up for a two-hour time slot, where they will have the cars set up “trunk-or-treat” style in the parking lot. Community members will be able to walk around to the different cars and browse. You must stay by your

Walk4Valor & Run4Life Two Events to Support Veteran Suicide Awareness year, over $12,000 in tuition assistance was awarded to qualified applicants. Walkers are asked to join Chad Lennon at 8:00 am at American Legion Post 803 in Southold, New York and runners are asked to check in at the entrance of Veterans Memorial Park at 7:30am for a scheduled race start at 9:00am. Foundation Founder and President, Peter Fertig, believes “Americans can join in unity to create and spread awareness about Veteran suicide prevention.” The foundation’s ongoing mission is to acknowledge and support the sacrifices made by Service members, Veterans, and their families. On September 18, 2021, The Bob Feller Act of Valor Award Foundation will host two unique events on Long Island to create awareness for Veteran Suicide Prevention. Leading fellow Marines, Veterans and friends, Chad Lennon, a Major in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, will hike 22 miles carrying 22 pounds to represent the 22 Veterans who die by suicide each day. Lennon is asking Americans to join him in person or online virtually in memory of our service members who die every day from suicide. In addition to the walk, Long Island runners will join in unity by running a 5K at Veterans Memorial Park in Calverton, NY. Starting and finishing from the park entrance at 5789 Middle Country Road, the run will engage a new and unique audience to bring additional awareness to this important cause. Walk4Valor and Run4Life events are sponsored by the Bob Feller Act of Valor Award Foundation with support from Major Charles J. Sanders, NYARNG, Commander for Southold American Legion Post 803. Both fundraisers will support the education of military children and Veterans. It is the foundation’s commitment to bring hope to living Veterans and their families.
