Long Island’s largest year-round professional theatrical venue, The Argyle Theatre (Mark and Dylan Perlman, Executive Producers & Managing Partners; Evan Pappas, Artistic Director), presents the World Premiere of PUNK ROCK GIRL with book and arrangements by Tony-nominated Long Island Composer Joe Iconis (Broadway’s Be More Chill), arrangements and orchestrations by Rob Rokicki (Broadway’s The Lightning Thief), directed and choreographed by Jennifer Werner Worldwide Associate for Book Of Mormon), and in partnership with Lively McCabe Entertainment. It will begin performances on January 20, in advance of its January 22 opening night and will run through February 27, 2022. The Argyle Theatre (34 West Main Street, Babylon, Long Island). It’s a new musical featuring a score of popular songs written and made famous by female artists and female-fronted bands including Blondie, Pat Benatar, Avril Lavigne, Joan Jett, P!nk, Gwen Stefani, and more! 16-year-old Angela Quivers is a perfectionist who never takes chances and feels like there’s no place where she belongs … until she meets Proxi, a teenager who pulls her into a world of grungy guitars, shocking secrets, and big, loud, messy emotions. A musical about a young person finding a community and creating her tribe, PUNK ROCK GIRL is a noisy celebration of all things raw and ragged; trashy and heartfelt; familiar and alien.
The creative team includes Music Supervision by Geoffrey Ko, Musical Direction by Jennifer Peacock, Associate Direction and Choreography by Leonard Sullivan, Set Design by Nate Bertone, Costume Design by Jen Caprio, Lighting Design by John Salutz, Sound Design by Carlos Dias Jr and Prop Design by Steven Velasquez, Associate Scenic Designer is Joshua Warner, Associate Costume Designer is Anna Blazer and Heather Neil and Prop Assistant is Courtney Alberto. Happy New Year! 2022 got off to a snowy start with our first winter storm on January 7th. A big thank you to Superintendent of Public Works Rick Sorrentino, and the entire Village Department of Public Works team, for an outstanding job clearing the snow and keeping our roadways safe for travel. In the last days of 2021, I took a little time to reflect on the past year and all we were able to accomplish together, in

On January 4th, the Lindenhurst Village Board approved a budget for 2022-2023 of $15,781,675.00. This is a 1.8% increase from last year’s budget. The Village Board, along with the Village Treasurer and Administration, worked hard to create a budget that remained under the tax cap. This was made possible, in part, due to an increase in the Village’s overall assessed value, and the implementation of green, energy-efficient improvements, which have helped keep the cost of various utility bills down. The increase in Village taxes was mostly due to increases in areas that the Village cannot control, such as labor costs (increase in minimum wage), cost of health insurance benefits,

Unfortunately, we did not leave the COVID-19 Pandemic behind in 2021, and it seems like January 2022 is like déjà vu. As I write this message, according to Newsday, the number of cases identified on average per day over the most recent week in the Village is 112.14 (5,786 in Suffolk County), compared to the previous week’s average of 90.86 (4,932 in Suffolk County). In addition, New York State Governor Hochul has extended the mask mandate to February 1, 2022, and announced new measures to combat the virus in New York State. The most up-todate guidance from the State regarding testing, vaccine, and quarantine guidelines, can be found at: https://coronavirus. health.ny.gov/home Finally, I encourage
all of our Lindenhurst residents to step up and take as many precautions as we can to reduce the spread of the virus. I know we are all dealing with “Pandemic burn out”, and many resent the inconveniences of the current mandate. However, masks and vaccines continue to be our best protection against serious illness. It has been reported that many vaccinated individuals who have tested positive for the virus have experienced less serious symptoms

Kevin J. McCaffrey Becomes Presiding Officer Of The Suffolk County Legislature On the morning of Monday, January 3rd, Suffolk County Legislator Kevin J. McCaffrey was unanimously selected by his peers to serve as the next Presiding Officer of the Suffolk County Legislature. Every two years, the Suffolk County Legislature calls to order an Organizational Meeting on the first business day following New Year’s Day. At this meeting, new Legislators will be sworn into office for the first time, new Legislative employees will assume their roles, and the Legislators will cast votes for who will lead them as Presiding Officer and Deputy Presiding Officer. At this year’s meeting, Legislator McCaffrey was sworn into office for a fifth consecutive term representing the Fourteenth Legislative District, which encompasses the Village of Lindenhurst, Village of Babylon, the hamlets of West Babylon and North Lindenhurst, portions of Copiague, North Babylon and Babylon’s barrier beach communities. Additionally, Legislator McCaffrey was chosen unanimously by his fellow lawmakers to serve

As Presiding Officer, Legislator McCaffrey will be tasked with serving as chairman of all meetings of the County Legislature, as the establishment of standing and special Legislative committees and appointment of their members calling special meetings of the County Legislature to discuss time sensitive County matters, and many more responsibilities as outlines in the Rules of the Legislature. This year, there are several new faces to the
Legislature, including Legislator Stephanie Bontempi, Legislator Manny Esteban, Legislator Trish Bergin, and Legislator Dominick Thorne. These freshman Legislators account for four of the eleven Republican seats on the Legislature, and as a result the Suffolk County Legislature’s Republican Caucus became the majority party for the first time in 16 years. The seven returning Legislators include Legislator Jim Mazzarella, Legislator Nick Caracappa, Legislator Anthony Piccirillo, Legislator Steve Flotteron, Legislator Leslie Kennedy, Legislator Rob Trotta, and Legislator Kevin McCaffrey. McCaffrey described the Republican Majority as “Not your grandfathers Republican Party,” including that the caucus is largely made up of organized labor leaders, female lawmakers, and a Hispanic. Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone was also on hand for the ceremony, and shared his connections to the Village of Lindenhurst and its surrounding area, both through family and through elected office. includes presentations by nurse navigators and social workers on basic breast cancer education, active listening skills, and tips on engaging the community. PSEG Long Island is sharing tips for customers to save money and reduce their energy consumption every day of the year. National Cut Your Energy Costs Day was launched to encourage consumers to explore energy- saving opportunities. In the past eight years, since PSEG Long Island was established, business and residential customers throughout Long Island and the Rockaways have done just that. More than $380 million in rebates have been distributed to customers through PSEG Long Island’s energy efficiency programs. That’s a savings of more than 2.1 billion kilowatts of energy since 2014 – and enough electricity to power more than 270,000 homes for an entire year. These tips can help customers save money and energy any time of year: · Replace inefficient incandescent light bulbs with LED bulbs since, according to the U.S. Department of Energy, lighting accounts for about 15% of the electricity used in the home, and LEDs use approximately 75% less energy and last up to 25 times longer. · Reduce “phantom power” by using energy efficient power strips or unplugging electronic devices when they’re not

The Lindenhurst Economic Development Committee (LEDC) has put out a survey regarding the Downtown Business District (Wellwood and Hoffman Avenues). This is a follow-up to the survey done in 2015 by the LEDC. The goal is to collect a wide range of information regarding the improvements to the
downtown, as well as any additional suggestions that residents, property owners, merchants, and consumers may have about economic activity in the Lindenhurst community. The survey can be found on the Village’s website, villageoflindenhurstny. gov, and Facebook. Paper copies are available at
