experience providing ambulance transport billing services for ground and air medical transport providers through the US. Since 9/1/2023, the VOL-LFD has been informing patients about the ambulance billing program, and gathering patient insurance information as part of our on-boarding process with QMC. On 12/1/2023, our system will “go live” and patient insurance companies will start being billed. Cost recovery for EMS transports relieves financial hardship on the VOL-LFD Rescue Department by recovering health insurance monies for which residents already pay for in their insurance premiums. Choosing to not bill would leave dollars on the table which residents would have to make up for through increased taxes and donations. As the VOL-LFD faces increased costs for EMS supplies and personnel costs, as well

as an aging ambulance fleet, choosing to bill will assist us in continuing to provide dependable, topquality, 24/7 EMS services, while keeping taxes low. Mayor Michael Lavorata said, “The fire department is the backbone of our community, and this contracted money will provide the resources needed to protect our residents. We firmly believe that the funding we get from the Ambulance Cost Recovery Program will help us make our great EMS-Rescue service even better.” “With the funds from this program, we intend to expand our services to ensure that we are staffing the highest level of EMS professionals, alongside of our volunteers, to meet the increasing needs of the Village residents,” added Deputy Mayor RJ Renna. Starting December 1, 2023, the Village of Lindenhurst Fire Department will “go live” with their Emergency Medical Service Ambulance Cost Recovery Program. In April 2022, Governor Kathy Hochul signed into law legislation to allow fire departments previously not permitted to bill for ambulance services. This legislation provides fire departments access to revenue through the billing of insurance companies for some services, and thereby provides taxpayers with some relief from increasing fire department EMS budgets caused by ever-increasing call volumes, as well as everincreasing costs for supplies, equipment, statemandated training and overhead. The VOL-LFD has contracted Quick Med Claims (QMC) to be their ambulance transport billing administrator. Based in Pennsylvania, QMC has 30-years of

1ST PLACE WINNERS IN RECYCLING BIN CONTEST -The Rotary Club of Lindenhurst is proud of its Interact Club’s teenage members. The students collected recycled material for a recycling bin project which they entered in Rotary District 7255’s and Evan R. Liblit Steering Committee’s Annual Recycling Bin Contest. They won 1st Place!!! The Lindenhurst Interact Club was awarded with a plaque and a monetary award which they will use to help children and people in need. These students epitomize our motto, “Service Above Self.”

The Lindenhurst Historical Society is proud to announce the Society is a recent recipient of a NYSCA/ GHHN Conservation Grant Program: Preservation Supplies Award. Grant funds were utilized to purchase a variety of collection management supplies, chiefly archival grade storage boxes designed to safely store clothing, textiles and other artifacts. The NYSCA/ GHHN Conservation Grant Program: Preservation Supplies and Site Assessment Grant Program is made possible with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, with support of the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. Additional funding from the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation supports projects from Long Island and New York City. This year, the Lindenhurst Historical Society is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee Anniversary. Founded in 1948 by residents that imagined not only a vibrant and robust Society of likeminded, community oriented visionaries who would perpetually foster the society’s core mission to preserve and celebrate the community’s rich and diverse history, but would continually seek and develop opportunities to conserve and protect the community’s historically valuable sites as well as its collection of historical objects, textiles, artworks and artifacts. “As stewards of this collection,” stated Lindenhurst Village Museum Director Marianne Guglieri, “the funding provides the

The Lindenhurst Historical Society Continued From 5 State were protected from demolition and preserved as museums. The museum buildings are all historically valuable in their own right but also provide intrinsic and germane exhibit space along with much needed storage for the Society’s collection of local artifacts, objects and historical items. The Lindenhurst Historical Society is

proud to manage all three buildings as museums; The Lindenhurst Historical House Museum at 272 South Wellwood Avenue and at Irmisch Park on South Broadway, the 1901 Restored Long Island Railroad Depot and Freight House Museum and The Old Village Hall Museum. Currently, the Historical House Museum and the Old Village Hall Museum are undergoing renovations,
