Lindenhurst Library Bond Referendum, Wednesday October 16, 2019 A new library building is a luxury not a NECESSITY. This will be the second referendum in two years. The voters rejected the referendum for a new library. Perhaps the members of the board and the library director are suffering from amnesia. Two years ago, the school district presented a separate referendum which the voters passed. Currently, the property taxpayers are paying for it and have 13 years left to pay. The village gave a 10 year tax break to a brewery while several roads are in disrepair. The property taxpayers get to pay for two referendums if the library referendum passes. Please vote NO. Social Security recipients may get an increase in 2020 but it will be less than the 2019 increase. Paying for Medicare could be worse. If you are the property taxpayer, do you really want to pay for a new library building? The dictator in Albany requires all vehicles with license plates over ten years old to be replaced with new license plates at $25.00 and an additional $20.00 for use of the same license plate number. If you’re angry, stop by the library on Wednesday, Octoberber 16, 2019 and vote NO. Is the average assessed value of a home 3,500? I don’t think so. Consequently, several property taxpayers will pay more. If the bond referendum passes, I will try to defeat the budget vote in April, 2020. Please vote NO. 364436N1016

The Cemetery of Lost Souls is a grass roots organization that gears up each year to create an elaborate Haunted House on the founder’s property, located at 350 Broadway in Massapequa Park. Every bit of money raised through their annual e v e n t (admission, donations, sponsorships, etc.) is given to a chosen charity. They have raised a lot of money over the years in donations alone and have donated to charities such as Autism Speaks, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities and Long Island Cares. This year they will bring the community a new interactive experience with the second Lost Souls Walk-Thru haunt, new rooms, new scares and new thrills! The event will run on October 18-19, 25-26, 31 and November 1-2 from 7PM-11:30PM. The chosen charity for 2019 is Melissa’s Wish, a non-profit organization founded with the purpose of providing short term, non-medical financial aid in the form of a grant to caregivers who are assisting those afflicted with a serious illness, injury or end of life event. You can become involved with the Cemetery of Lost Souls in many ways. They are actively looking for volunteers in the following areas: Digital Marketing (to help with social media marketing), Scare Team Members (actors to help put on the event), Security (watching over the event and making sure all guests are safe), and Bake Team Members (to donate baked

Copiague Kiwanis Car Show It was a beautiful sunny day and the cars were lined up by and ready to go. The Kiwanis Club of Copiague had a wonderful successful car show on Sept. 8th. The Kiwanians were there collecting money, handing out bracelets, selling baskets, all to benefit the children. Scouts did a great job cooking and handling all the parking. The Key

The Alzheimer’s Found-ation of America (AFA), together with the Town of Babylon, will be hosting an “Alzheimer’s Walk in the Park” on Saturday, October 19th, from 10 am to 1 pm (rain date October 20th). The event will take place at the AFA-Town of Babylon Respite Care Relief Park (200 East Sunrise Highway, Lindenhurst), which serves residents with Alzheimer’s disease and their care-givers. Proceeds raised from the event will support Long Islanders living with Alzheimer’s disease. 90 Years Loved Violette Elaine Cabrey Frank reached the end of life’s journey and joined her family reunion in Heaven on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 in Garner, NC. Violette is survived by her children Beverly Trainor, Lynn Frank and his wife Merrick, Eric Frank and his wife, Joanne, her six grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren. Violette Elaine Cabrey Frank was born December 31, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York to Stephen and Henrietta Cabrey. She married Stephen Lynn Frank on July 20, 1947. She was loved dearly by her Lynn for over 20 years before his passing in 1968. The two shared a beautiful life together. She worked in the Lindenhurst School system for about 50 years where she served the children and faculty faithfully. Known for her vibrant storytelling, sense of humor, sharp wit and

sexy gams (as told by her husband). She was traditional and timeless. She knew no stranger and extended hospitality to all. She was an avid writer known for her uplifting cards for all occasions. Her

feisty spirit brought joy to everyone who knew her. She loved her family and friends and treasured their company. She was loved dearly by her children, grandchildren, great-grand children, and her many, many friends. Violette’s family and friends celebrated her life Sunday, October 13 and Monday, October 14 in Lindenhurst.
