Children who have experienced trauma, grief and loss, substance abuse, or have poor social skills, are verbally or physically aggressive, are on the autism spectrum, etc. are offered integrated interdisciplinary treatment in a therapeutic environment at the Residential Treatment Center (RTC) on their Wading River campus. An interdisciplinary treatment team of social workers, mental health staff, childcare staff, educators, medical professionals and a recreation therapist formulate individualized treatment plans that address the speciﬁc needs of each of those children. The underlying belief of the center is that a healthy community helps heal.

At the RTC, children reside in modern cottages designed to feel like home. The cottages include individual rooms, common areas, a large dining room and a kitchen. Recreational programming there includes the Conway Recreation Center, athletic ﬁelds and courts and an outdoor swimming pool. The youth can also participate in off-campus recreation activities such as volunteer services and community involvement. The RTC also offers additional therapies and services, such as the Culinary Arts

Additionally, Little Flower also offers a Mental Health and Medical Department that utilizes a traumainformed, multi-systemic approach to support to all foster children. Adhering to best practices, nurses coordinate and monitor medical care, including overseeing weekly well-child clinic, and provide screenings, child and caregiver education, assist pediatricians with routine physicals and provide body checks as needed. Children receive dental services and are referred to specialists when recommended. In addition to the RTC, Little Flower also offers Community Family Treatment & Support Services (CFTSS) and Home and Community Based Services (HCBS). Their organization’s service providers address various needs, such as daily living skills, coping skills, crisis prevention, socialization and employment needs, via telehealth, in the home, school and community. PSEG Long Island crews performing storm-hardening work on the distribution system. Since the implementation of the FEMA-funded stormhardening program funded in 2014, PSEG Long Island has completed storm hardening and reliability work on more than 1,000 miles of distribution mainline circuits. From the first quarter of 2021 to the first quarter of 2022, the sections of circuits that are storm hardened saw a 44% reduction in damage leading to outages compared to the rest of the distribution system. PSEG Long Island is proud to continue its storm hardening work with

Power On, an initiative started in the spring of 2020 that will continue to improve reliability by strengthening distribution lines, targeting the most vulnerable circuits across Long Island and the Rockaways. Since the launch, an additional more than 190 miles of distribution mainline circuits have been storm hardened with stronger poles, thicker wire and other modern equipment. To further protect against storm damage to the energy grid, arborists from PSEG Long Island’s Tree Trimming program

work throughout the year to identify and trim tree limbs in rights of way and along easements that could potentially cause outages during or after a storm. Since 2014, PSEG Long Island removed more than 88,500 hazardous trees and/or large limbs along the distribution and transmission system and trimmed more than 21,000 miles of distribution and transmission line clearance in accordance with the industry best practice clearance standard. This standard preserves the health of the tree and directs future

growth away from power lines. In addition, a new vine mitigation program identified, cut and treated more than 14,000 vine locations across Long Island and the Rockaways. PSEG Long Island also prepares its dedicated workforce for summer by conducting annual hurricane and tropical storm drills and employee training; by developing emergency summer operating plans; and by performing summer-peak reliability analyses to ensure there is sufficient capacity to meet electric demand on high-heat days.

Recently enacted state laws require insurance agents to explain to new customers, how much SUM they may purchase. If your SUM does not equal your Bodily Injury coverage, talk to a licensed agent.

PSEG Long Island cautions that metallic balloons can be hazardous PSEG Long Island is reminding customers that balloons released into the air can become entangled in overhead electric equipment and cause a host of problems. “Safety is PSEG Long Island’s No. 1 priority. That’s why we’re cautioning customers to please hold onto their metallic balloons,” said John O’Connell,

PSEG Long Island’s vice president of Transmission and Distribution Operations. “Though they’re festive, fun and look nice, we want the public to be aware that metallic balloons also conduct electricity. If they get loose and come into contact with a power line or other electrical equipment, that could lead to power outages,

fire and, possibly, injuries.” To mitigate these risks, PSEG Long Island encourages the public to follow these safety guidelines: • Metallic balloons and other decorations should be kept clear of overhead power lines and equipment, and never purposely released into the air. • All balloons with helium

should be secured to weights that prevent them from floating away. • To properly dispose of a Mylar balloon, safely puncture it in several places to release the helium, and discard it in the trash. • NEVER touch a power line. Do not attempt to retrieve a balloon, toy or anything caught in an overhead power line. Report it
