PSEG Long Island and the PSEG Foundation are supporting the Island Harvest Food Bank in its response to critical community needs throughout Long Island as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. The mission of Island Harvest Food Bank is to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island. The PSEG Foundation provided the Island Harvest Food Bank a grant of $45,000 to address rising food insecurity, including children who do not have access to school feeding programs because their schools are temporarily closed because of the public health crisis. Island Harvest Food Bank, which relies mostly on donations of surplus food by commercial food establishments, wholesalers, supermarkets, and individuals, has seen a decline in those donations recently. The grant will purchase food to ensure an uninterrupted supply for people who rely on supplemental feeding programs served by Island Harvest Food Bank. “PSEG Long Island employee volunteers support Island Harvest

WHEREAS, on or about December 31, 2019, the first reported case of severe phenomena was reported in China, and by January 7, 2020, the virus was identified as a new coronavirus, COVID-19; and WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic is in many ways a completely unprecedented situation, and as such, is an imminent threat to public health; and WHEREAS, on March 7, 2020 the State of New York declared a State of Emergency to allow New York’s government to respond faster by lifting regulations, as the number of coronavirus cases in New York rises; and WHEREAS, on March 12, 2020 the County of Suffolk declared a State of Emergency, which lifts some restrictions and provides powers including bypassing purchasing regulations, thus allowing the

county to act more quickly; and WHEREAS, this event has caused hospitals to be overburdened; sickness to the population; the disruption of local supplies, and may result in personal hardships, self quarantine and mandatory quarantine of infected people, and continues to pose a threat to the public health and safety; and WHEREAS, on March 13, 2020, two residents of the Town of Babylon tested positive for COVID-19; and as a result, on March 15, 2020, the Town of Babylon also declared a State of Emergency; and WHEREAS, on March 15, 2020, the Village Administration decided that the number of Village Vehicles, Machinery Equipment and Supplies, could not provide for the current threat upon public highways, streets and pubic areas within the Village proper, in the time necessary to provide for the health, safety and welfare of the public; and WHEREAS, on March 15, 2020, the Village Administration declared that

The American Cancer Society recognizes the following hotels that have joined the program: Courtyard by Marriot Long Island MacArthur Airport, Ronkonkoma Springhill Suites New York/JFK Airport, Jamaica These two hotels have generously agreed to offer lodging, when available, to patients traveling to their treatments. “These partnerships illustrate our united front against cancer,” said Barbara Messeder, Mission Delivery Manager for the American Cancer Society in Hauppauge, NY. “Our hotel partners show a commitment to community and to patients struggling with cancer. This local patient service would not exist without their generosity to helping people at a very challenging time.
