At the Fire Department meeting held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, awards and certificates were issued to numerous members for their actions during 2023. As a result of their training and quick actions, many lives were saved. The following awards were presented: 1 – Rescue Medal, 17 – Pre-hospital saves and 7 – Unit citations.

BACCA activities are held at Old Town Hall in Babylon Village, the Town Hall Annex in North Babylon, Wyandanch Plaza, and the BACCA Arts Center in Lindenhurst Village, as well as other locations throughout the Town of Babylon. Plans are currently being discussed for additional arts and cultural activities in an historic home in Amityville Village. To begin 2024, BACCA is announcing a Call to Artists to create a 50th Anniversary commemorative design, inviting the community to celebrate the occasion. The Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts (BACCA) will reach a very significant milestone in 2024 as it celebrates 50 years of supporting the arts in the Town of Babylon and beyond. Lindenhurst High And Elementary School Students Artists Team Up
Lindenhurst High School National Art Honor Society students made a visit to Alleghany Avenue Elementary School on January 25th. The group met with students in Alleghany’s fifth grade art club to work together on a special painting project. Under the guidance of Art Honor Society advisor AnnJeannine Cuozzo, the high schoolers chose a
responsible pet ownership and humane values when it comes to all issues involving animals and pets,” said Garetano. “We partner with several community organizations, shelters, veterinarians and other animal lovers educate and inform when it comes to best practices for training, feeding and all aspects of pet care.” Community and rescue organizations will be participating in the show where attendees can learn about pet adoptions as well as responsible ownership and care. The event is expected to draw over 10,000 attendees over the weekend. Adult admission is $15, Kids 4-11 are $6, and those three years old and under are always free. The Long Island Pet Expo returns on March 2-3, 2024, with fur flying entertainment, dog sporting competitions and educational programs designed for the whole family. The event returns to the Suffolk Federal Credit Union Arena and features many special attractions, pet adoptions and outstanding shopping for pet lovers and their pets. “The Long Island area is passionate about animals and pets of all kinds,” said show co-producer Karen Garetano of Family Pet Shows, which runs several similar events in the northeast. The 100+ special exhibits always feature some of the hottest new products coming out often before they hit the retail shelves. We are pleased to announce that the Village will again sponsor the annual Summer Recreation Camp at the Village Park. The camp will start at the beginning of July (exact date TBD) and continue for six (6) weeks. Camp hours are 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday. Campers are grouped by age (not by school grade) in the following groups: 5-7 year olds, 8-9 year olds, and 10-14 year olds. The camp is open to Lindenhurst children who are eligible to attend the Lindenhurst School District. Please note, children must complete kindergarten by the end of this school
year to be eligible to register. Our staff is planning hard to offer the campers a summer of fun. We are determined to follow all recommendations and protocols established by the Board of Health and camper to counselor ratios; thus, the lottery. Please fill out the lottery application. If your child is chosen, you will receive the registration documents via email. The application and all pertinent information (including instructions for registration such as time and place, required forms and fees) will be included in the email. Be sure to include all requested information on the
lottery application, especially email contact. All remaining applicants who did not get chosen in the lottery will be placed on a waiting list for their age group. A lottery application must be submitted for each child. If you cannot print the application or submit it via email, please call Village Hall (631) 9577500 between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM.
