The External Diploma Program offers adults 21 and over, the opportunity to receive credit for their life experiences, and earn a high school equivalency diploma without the challenge of taking lengthy timed examinations. EDP, is a competency based program for students who are unable to attend classes or who prefer to work at home. Successful candidates for EDP include former ESL students, students who have been out of school for prolonged periods of time, or students who fare better without the structure of tests. The series will begin Sunday, January 9th at Heckscher State Park. Paul LaMartina was recently awarded the Pilgrim Degree of Merit, the highest of the Loyal Order of Moose. Mr. LaMartina, also the current President of Lindenhurst Moose Lodge #1421, was celebrated during a Pilgrim Presentation Ceremony, in
which he was presented with his Pilgrim blazer. Mayor Michael Lavorata said, “Your outstanding record of community service, and loyalty to the Moose Lodge is evidenced by the time and effort given, on a daily basis, to the Lindenhurst Community.”
The Village Board recognized Mr. LaMartina’s achievement by designating November 15, 2021 as “Paul T. LaMartina Day”, and urges all residents to join in appreciation of this outstanding individual.

The expanded “Lights on Wellwood” are a magical vision in our Downtown Business District, and our annual celebration to welcome the holiday season has grown into a festive, family-friendly, day of spectacular community fun. This year – which included ice sculpting, carolers in the park, and a variety of vendors -- was the largest day of events yet with the Chamber of Commerce Santa In The Park, Business Improvement District Christkindl
Market, Lindenhurst Fire Department Christmas Parade, Lindenhurst Historical Society Tree Lighting, and many other community organizations joining together in the holiday fun. The Village sincerely appreciates all of the prep and planning that it took for our Lindenhurst Community and guests to enjoy and share a memorable day. This day, in particular, is so complex and includes detailed planning that takes months, and an army of volunteers, to implement. Notice is hereby given taxpayers of the Town of Babylon, that the Undersigned Receiver of Taxes has received the 2021/2022 Tax and Assessment Roll and Warrant. She will accept payment for taxes at her office in the Town Hall, 200 East Sunrise Highway, N. SCHOOL TAXES – School budgets are prepared and adopted locally in the respective school districts and the amount shown on the accompanying bill is collected solely for the benefit of your school district. The Receiver of Taxes acts merely as an agent for the collection of such taxes. For further information concerning school budgets, consult your local school authorities. IMPORTANT NOTICE – Taxes become a lien on December 1, 2021. First half payable to Receiver of Taxes at 200 E. Sunrise Hwy., Lindenhurst, NY 11757 on or before January 10, 2022 without penalty. Babylon Rotary Club Presents A Truck Load Of Gifts
At their December 8th meeting at the American Legion in Babylon Village, the Babylon Rotary Club presented a truck load of gifts to Marnie Katzman, Development Director at SCO Family of Services at their Madonna Heights facility in Dix Hills. The SCO Family of Services helps struggling adolescent girls heal, learn and grow – helping them gain confidence,
strengthen family bonds and transition back home. Ms. Katzman stated that there are more than 5,200 teens in their shelters and residential facilities that will receive donated holiday gifts this year. “Tweens and Teens are often forgotten this time of year as most donors focus on younger children” reports Babylon Rotary President Megan Noble. Noble has led this project
for the Babylon Rotary Club for the last 10 years after visiting the Madonna Heights Group Residence. The Village of Lindenhurst has determined that it is necessary to prohibit the smoking or vaping of cannabis products on Village-owned properties. Whereas, the New York State Legislature and Governor Cuomo have passed the “Marijuana Tax and Reform Act” which legalizes the recreational use and sale of cannabis products. Whereas, individuals above the age of 21 can smoke cannabis products pursuant to the Clean Indoor Air Act. The Clean Indoor Air Act prohibits smoking cannabis in areas such as workplaces, restaurants, bars, mass transportation, public transportation terminals, colleges and universities, schools, indoor arenas and hospitals. The smoking or vaping of cannabis in outdoor places in unregulated. Such proposed law is necessary for the protection and maintenance of health, safety and welfare of the inhabitants of the Village. It is the interest of the Village of Lindenhurst residents to prohibit the use of cannabis in public places. The Board of Trustees finds that this law section is reasonably aimed at achieving this goal and that the governance of the Village will be enhanced by enactment of the regulations set forth in this section. Section 2. Prohibition against Smoking or Vaping of Cannabis Products on Village Owned Properties. The Board of Trustees of the Village of Lindenhurst proposes this law pursuant to the Clean Indoor Air Act which prohibits the vaping or smoking of cannabis products in most workplaces, bars, restaurants, mass transportation, public transportation, terminals, schools, colleges and universities, hospitals and indoor arenas. The MRTA adds cannabis to the Clean Indoor Air Act, which establishes prohibitions on where cannabis can be smoked or vaporized. The smoking or vaporizing of cannabis is prohibited anywhere smoking tobacco is prohibited. Because smoking tobacco is prohibited in Village parks, smoking or vaporizing cannabis is also prohibited. Furthermore, no person shall

Island and in the Rockaways have been storm hardened with stronger poles, thicker wire and other modern equipment. In 2021, the sections of circuits that are storm hardened have seen a 53% reduction in damage leading to outages compared to the rest of the distribution system. Power On focuses on
