Freedman first joined the district as a middle school library media specialist and remote learning coach in December 2013. Throughout her tenure with the district, she developed curriculum for library grades kindergarten through five as well as English Language Arts electives. Additionally, she would provide guidance to students and faculty in the use of technology integration into schoolwork and realworld usage. Trustee RJ Renna has announced that, thanks in part to a Suffolk County Downtown Revitalization Grant, the municipal parking facility, located on West Hoffman Avenue and School Street, has been completely gutted, in process for renovation. Some of the changes and improvements that will be coming to the parking lot include re-paving the asphalt lot, restriping the

lot to accommodate more parking spaces, landscaping, and curb and sidewalk repair. Trustee Renna said, “This project is another of the ongoing upgrades the Village is making to improve the parking in our Downtown Business District.” Deputy Mayor Maryann Weckerle added, “The Village, in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Business Improvement

District, will continue to work to revitalize our Downtown Business District with transformative public and private sector projects. We will work together to achieve our goal of creating a vibrant Downtown that will support current businesses, foster growth, and build a strong and secure future for the Lindenhurst Community.”

They created this training course, which is available in person or online to anyone. In this course, you will learn:

Dedication Of Jerry Graziano Police And Firefighter Memorial Park

A gathering of Village residents, current and retired Amityville police officers and firefighters, and elected officials gathered to enjoy a brisk autumn day on Nov. 6th at the dedication of Jerry Graziano Police and Firefighter Memorial Park. Located across from the main firehouse at 111 Oak Street in the Village of Amityville, the park honors the late Police Officer and AFD volunteer firefighter Jerry Graziano who served in the APD in the 1950s to 1970s. He passed away in July 1999. A US Navy veteran who served in WWII, Graziano was widely known for his quick wit, community service, and ability to relate to everyone whom he encountered. Prior to joining the Amityville Police Department he worked as s a letter carrier in Lindenhurst. Highlighting the dedication was a blessing from Rev. Randolph Jon Geminder, the AFD and APD Chaplain, and rector of St. Mary’s Church. After a moving blessing, members of the Graziano family shared loving memories of their father, grandfather and uncle known as “Graz” who was a

POLICE OFFICER JERRY GRAZIANO larger-than-life presence in their lives. Retired officers also reflected on their time in service with their friend and fellow officer. In the months leading up to the park dedication, Deputy Mayor Kevin Smith worked with volunteers from the Kiwanis Club of Amityville and the Village Parks Commission -headed by Corinne Budde -- and with the Department of Public Works -- led by Bruce Hopper. The team planted trees and shrubs, installed a bench and refurbished the existing park. Police and fire flags were added to accent the American flag, and bronze tablets display the police and fire prayers. Mayor Siry welcomed guests, including Suffolk County Legislator Jason

Dominican Village’s Veteran Centenarians Anthony Cirenza, 102 years old (served in three wars: WWII, Vietnam & Korean War) & Dr. Nancy Leftenant-Colon 101-year-old whose career and accomplishments in the Military is an extensive list. Nancy a Registered Nurse Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps served

in the position of National Secretary for Tuskegee Airmen Incorporated (TAI), from 1978-1987. In 1987, Nancy was duly elected to position of 1st Vice President, and in 1989, she was duly elected to the position of President of Tuskegee Airmen, Incorporated, the first woman to be elected to the position.

Richberg, Town of Babylon Councilman DuWayne Gregory and Brendan Cunningham representing Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre. “This Park is a fitting tribute to Officer Graziano and all of our brave first responders who put their lives on the line every day,” said Mayor Siry. The park was established under Mayor Peter Imbert’s administration, with assistance from other elected officials from the Town and County. Family member Joe Fuller recalled how the support of Legislators Dave Bishop and Elie Mystal helped make the purchase of the land possible. At the close of the remarks, Chiefs Bryan O. Burton, Jr. and Rob Waegerle officially unveiled the sign to celebrate the park’s revitalization. Debut Theater Company Opens New Comedy Dec. 10 At Bacca: The Stars Above You Debut Theater Company is opening its new comedy, The Stars Above You, on December 10 at BACCA Arts Center in Lindenhurst, at 149 North Wellwood Ave. The play will run December 10, 11, 17, 18, at 8:00 pm, and December 12 and 19 at 2:00 pm. In this original comedy-drama by Anthony DiFranco, a lonely city-dweller is given a big telescope as a taunting gift -- it will either help him find a woman of flesh and blood to love, or else drive him further into his withdrawn life. For this mostly-rational man, seeing is believing ... but believing is seeing also. The cast are seasoned Long Island actors: Gary Tifeld, Mike Cesarano, Matt Stashin, Shari Cohen, Meredith Lynn Spencer, and John Torres. Direction is by Deborah Rupy.

Over the years and throughout the pandemic, Compare Foods has become essential to the nutrition center’s operations as they generously donate additional food whenever needed. “Compare Foods is a staple of the Wyandanch community, and I thank

them for all they do for not only their patrons, but also for the Town of Babylon. They are a great asset to Brenda and her staff always, but especially earlier this year when we were still providing meals to seniors at home during the pandemic,” said Supervisor Rich Schaffer. “Whenever I call, whatever I need, they are always here to help me feed our seniors,” added Chief Head Cook Brenda McDonald.
