The Lindenhurst Historical Society, located at 272 South Wellwood Avenue, Lindenhurst, will be holding a parade march on Veterans’ Day, Monday, November 11, marking the 100th Anniversary of the dedication of the World War I monument on Wellwood Avenue. The parade route will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the corners of West John Street and School Street across from the Evangel Church. It will proceed down Wellwood Avenue and end at the site of the Memorial on the corner of Hoffman and Wellwood Avenues. A brunch will be offered at the American Legion Hall @ 80 Herbert Street in Lindenhurst for the price of $10.00 per parson.

The improvements to the Old Village Hall museum have included a new, reconstructed roof, new heating and air conditioning system, handicap-accessible amenities that include kitchenette and bathroom, and leader and gutter draining into leaching basin. The Cemetery of Lost Souls is a grass roots organization that gears up each year to create an elaborate Haunted House on the founder’s property, located at 350 Broadway in Massapequa Park. E v e r y bit of money raised through their annual event (admission, donations, sponsorships, etc.) is given to a chosen charity. They have raised a lot of money over the years in donations alone and have donated to charities such as Autism Speaks, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities and Long Island Cares. This year they will bring the community a new interactive experience with the second Lost Souls Walk-Thru haunt, new rooms, new scares and new thrills! The remaining events will run on October 25-26, 31 and November 1-2 from 7PM-11:30PM. The chosen charity for 2019 is Melissa’s Wish, a non-profit organization founded with the purpose of providing short term, non-medical financial aid in the form of a grant to caregivers who are assisting those afflicted with a serious illness, injury or end of life event. This homegrown haunt has been up and running for a few weeks so far this year and visitors have only good things to say! Below are some recent reviews:

The Board of Trustees finds that this new section is reasonably aimed at achieving this and that public health, welfare, and good order and the governance of the Village will be enhanced by enactment of the regulations set forth in this section.

Every person riding a bicycle upon a street shall be granted all of the rights and shall be subject to all of the duties applicable to the driver of a vehicle pursuant to the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law, except those provisions, which by their nature, are not applicable. Every person riding a bicycle upon a sidewalk shall be granted all of the rights and shall be subject to all of the duties applicable to a pedestrian.

B. Every person operating a bicycle upon a roadway shall ride as near to the right side of the roadway as practicable, and with the flow of traffic, obeying all traffic rules applicable to vehicles and exercising due care when passing a standing vehicle or one proceeding in the same direction.
