The Islip United Methodist Church recently held a fundraiser to help support refugees from the Ukraine. During the evening of fellowship and entertainment, attendees enjoyed a delicious ham dinner, and gospel songs
and traditional hymns with Elvis. The evening was a tremendous financial, and social success. Mayor Michael Lavorata said, “No matter who you are, or what your background is, it does impact us when we see
those horrible images of destruction in the media every day. Tonight’s uplifting event opened many hearts to help in aid, and to feel hope and pray for peace.”

That a proposition will be presented to the qualified voters of the Lindenhurst Union Free School District at the Budget Vote and Election held on May 17, 2022 requesting that the Board of Education of the Lindenhurst Union Free School District be authorized to expend from the Capital Reserve Fund, which was established on May 15, 2018 (“Reserve Fund”) pursuant to Section 3651 of the Education Law, for a capital improvement project consisting of renovations, reconstruction and/or capital improvements to the Lindenhurst High School for the purpose of expanding educational and/or vocational programs (e.g., Cosmetology Program, etc.), and other work and materials required in connection therewith; and to expend from the Reserve Fund therefor, including preliminary costs and costs incidental thereto, in an amount not to exceed the estimated total cost of Two Million Dollars ($2,000,000.00). AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a copy of the detailed statement in writing of the amount of money which will be required for the 2022 – 23 school year for school purposes (the proposed budget), will be made available, upon request, to any resident of the District between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. beginning April 27, 2022, except Saturday, Sunday or holidays, at the District Administration Office, 350 Daniel Street, Lindenhurst, New York at each schoolhouse in the District, on the District’s website at www. lindenhurstschools.org, and at the Lindenhurst Memorial Library. AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that pursuant to Section 495 of the Real Property Tax Law, the School District is required to attach to its proposed budget an exemption report. Said exemption report, which will also become part of the final budget, will show how much of the total assessed value on the final assessment roll used in the budgetary process is exempt from taxation, list every type of exemption granted, identified by statutory authority, and show: (a) the cumulative impact of each type of exemption expressed either as a dollar amount of assessed value or as a percentage of the total assessed value on the roll; (b) the cumulative amount expected to be received from recipients of each type of exemption as payments in lieu
