Debut Theater Company is opening its new play, Giselle, on April 22 at BACCA Arts Center in Lindenhurst at 149 North Wellwood Ave. The play will run April 22, 23, 29, 30 at 8:00 pm, and April 24 and May 1 at 2:00 pm. In this original drama by Anthony DiFranco, a painter trying to complete his most challenging creation tangles with his young model, his ex-wife, his therapist, and his own weary body.

Hope For Youth’s dedicated team of staff, volunteers and interns facilitates positive change in the lives of Long Island children, youth and families. The non-profit runs what they call a Kinship Caregiver Program, which helps create a better Long Island by offering a child a pathway to a better future. Sadly, children may be removed from their homes for many reasons. Nationally, the four key reasons are neglect, parental drug use, a caretaker’s inability to cope and physical abuse. Equally as sad, Long Island, like many communities across the country, is in dire need of foster parents for children from birth to the age of 18, whether these caregivers have informal or formal custody of children. Such care isn’t always provided by unrelated individuals. When provided by a relative, it’s called “kinship care.” Kinship foster parents must provide full-time protection and nurturing of a child, as well as a stable and safe home. They must be above the age of 21 and meet a number of additional eligibility requirements. Designated kinship foster parents receive various types of financial support. They also receive family services, case management support and other supportive services.

Their experts assist with such challenges as discipline, child development, legal concerns and rebuilding a family. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County also provides support groups for both adults and children, plus monthly social activities for families. Hope For Youth’s Kinship Caregiver Program is designed to help and support this category of caregiver, bearing in mind that the courts are obliged to make every effort to reunite a child with a parent. Over the course of Friday, April 1st through Sunday, April 3rd, Lindenhurst’s new landmark Belfast Gastro Pub, celebrated its First Anniversary! The celebration featured great deals and specials, as well as live music from local musicians Uncorked & Unwined! Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer Kevin McCaffrey also paid a visit to join in the celebration of Belfast’s first anniversary in business! Following their opening, Belfast has become a staple of the downtown Lindenhurst business community. They have partnered with a number of local organizations to host and sponsor local events, most notably the first-ever Lindenhurst St. Patrick’s Day Parade at

As part of a statewide effort to increase the number of volunteer firefighters in New York, the RecruitNY statewide campaign will kick off with a press conference Thursday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Babylon Town Hall in Lindenhurst, NY. Officials from the Firefighter’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) along with local Town of Babylon volunteer
firefighters will speak at a press conference which will outline events taking place during the RecruitNY annual recruitment event weekend starting April 23. During the RecruitNY weekend, volunteer fire departments across the state will open their doors to their community to educate the public about what it takes to become a volunteer firefighter.
