BLOOD DRIVE IN MEMORY OF HELEN LAVORATA - Shahnaz Karim of Lockwood, Kessler, and Bartlett Inc. recently sponsored a blood drive in memory of Lindenhurst Mayor Michael Lavorata’s wife Helen Lavorata. Shahnaz said, “Two years have passed since the world lost this beautiful soul. I felt a blood drive was a wonderful way to remember Helen.” The pandemic has impacted many areas of life, including the availability of blood for emergency life-saving measures. Blood drives, like the one organized in honor of Helen Lavorata, are essential to replenishing the blood inventory. Mayor Lavorata said, “I am honored and so thankful to Shahnaz for sponsoring a blood drive in Helen’s memory. ROTARY CLUB MEETING - At a recent Rotary Club meeting, held at Goccia D’Oro restaurant, Deputy Mayor Maryann Weckerle spoke with Little Flower Shop owners Mary and John Frenna. Mr. Frenna is also a member of the Business Improvement District, the organization, along with the Village, responsible for the improvements to the holiday decorations in the Village. Deputy Mayor Weckerle and the Frennas discussed the success of the new decorations and the ongoing effort to improve the Village’s downtown, especially during the holiday season. Deputy Mayor Weckerle said, “It’s great to see our community enjoying the new decorations during the holiday season!
