utor Time of Lindenhurst held its first annual March of Dimes Walk on January 29th. The children and staff made wonderful banners and walked together throughout the school. The money raised for the March of Dimes funds important research and programs that help babies begin healthy lives. Production Recognized On January 23rd and 24th, the Lindenhurst High School Thespian Troupe performed its winter musical with a production of the Tony nominated show, Legally Blonde. “When I came to Lindenhurst High School earlier this year I was tasked with selecting a musical that would showcase the strong female talent in this year’s theater program, as well

as providing an enjoyable and meaningful experience for all those involved, including musicians, designers, technicians, the boys in the cast and of course, the audience,” said director Jordan Hue. “Beneath the gloss, this is a show is one about social justice and empowerment. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work on this with the teachers, students and volunteers at Lindenhurst.”

The musical production received two proclamations. One was presented to principal Dr. Christopher Gitz by Lindenhurst Mayor, Thomas Brennan proclaiming January 24, 2015 Lindenhurst High School Musical Day. Suffolk County Legislator Kevin McCaffrey presented the second proclamation, which extolled the virtues of the Lindenhurst musical production program.

One method involves using a composite resin, resembling a putty, to rebuild or reshape the tooth. Once the desired look is achieved, the resin is exposed to bonding light that hardens it. The tooth is then smoothed and polished. Another form of bonding involves the use of porcelain veneers which are thin laminates that cover the entire front surfaces. These can change the appearance of teeth without altering your bite. New technology enables me to place these bonded and porcelain fillings the same day. Human Nature? By: Jamie Lynn Ryan Let me start off by saying, accidents happen. We all have our moments of distraction on the road. Add to that, heightened tension due to weather conditions (even if said conditions don’t happen to be a factor at the time, but we’re giving the benefit of the doubt here), and the forces of human nature, mixed with Mother Nature, sometimes create catastrophic results. Where am I going with this tangent, you ask? Just a preface to my recent run-in with a fellow motorist, is all. Well, his runin with me, to be exact. At a red light. Behind a line of about 12 other vehicles. Clearly stopped. Not moving. No ice, no slush, no nothing on the road. Getting the picture? So, obviously, you can imagine my astonishment upon glancing in my rearview mirror – as I habitually do when on the roads

– to see headlights approaching at what seemed too fast for an appropriate slowdown and stop maneuver. Sure enough, there it was, the impact, the sound of car metal crunching and cracking, along with the squeal of brakes. Lovely. Just lovely. Luckily, another one of my driving habits is to leave a bit of room between the front of my car and the one in front of mine, saving me the added inconvenience of continuing the potential chain reaction of collisions. One minor crisis averted. All of this, mind you, and the light had yet to change to green. No sooner did I get my bearings, than the driver – a young, college-aged male with a knit hat – appeared at my driver’s side window to apologize profusely and ask if I was alright. I rolled down my window, clearly angry, and said, “Yeah, I’m fine, but my car sure isn’t.” He continued to apologize and suggested we

pull out of the line of traffic and into the parking lot of an office building right alongside the road. Great idea. As I pulled off to the shoulder and continued into the agreedupon lot, the light changed. Wanting to be sure I was out of the entryway (and further harm’s way), I found a spot off to the side and waited. And waited. I watched the continuous stream of traffic drive by, with no sign of the guilty party. Gone. Took off. You must be kidding. Hence the tangent. And the anger. And the feeling that, in spite of the fact that “accidents happen” from time to time and none of us is perfect, there is no excuse for not owning up to your actions after the fact. That’s just bad karma. So, to the other driver, I hope you can live with your decision to run from your mistake. May you never have the misfortune for someone to do precisely the same thing to you.

The theme of the talent show was “The 80’s” - the children performed 80’s acts such as Cyndi Lauper, Kiss, Motley Crue, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, CIRCUS PERFORMANCE - Last week, all grades in Harding Avenue performed Madonna and more, and the show ended with a finale of We Are The World, where the circus acts for their parents. Embracing Differences At a recent meeting of the Babylon Town Board, Supervisor Schaffer joined with his colleagues on the board to unanimously approve a resolution proclaiming the month of April as “Upper Limb Difference Month” to show support for families of children who were born with missing hands, fingers or arms. This resolution was passed to show encouragement for the efforts of “Unlimbited Possibilities,” an

organization that provides support and resources to families of children with upper limb differences. Members of the organization were in attendance for the meeting to celebrate the unanimous passage of the declaration. Unlimbited Possibilities is a not-for-profit corporation that was founded in 2003 and was the first upper limb difference organization on Long Island. The organization was founded by parents of children with

upper limb differences with the purpose of coming together to offer support, share information and raise awareness about the issues that these families face. Since their inception, Unlimbited Possibilities has held numerous community events, raffles and auctions for their cause.
