Is it just me, or is the process of “un-decking” the halls one of the least wonderful times of the year? After what seems like months of preparation and primping, stringing lights and garland, strategically hanging ornaments and placing knick-knacks, it’s over. Just like that. As of New Year’s Day, it seems just about everyone is all but done with the Christmas spirit as soon as the ball drops in Times Square. Out goes the tree

to the curb, down comes the décor and back go the unacceptable gifts to the store. ‘Tis the season, indeed. I suppose it wouldn’t be so bad if there was another festive occasion to look forward to, but everything just seems so bare once the holidays have passed. Not to mention the cold, stark winter weather lurking just outside the window… the coziness factor is definitely lacking. ADVANTAGES OF LASER SURGERY QUESTION: What are the advantages of laser dental surgery? ANSWER: There is very little or no bleeding, which enables the surgeon to have a dry operating site and excellent visibility. The result is a shorter and less traumatic procedure. Both blood vessels and lymphatics are sealed as they are cut resulting in much reduced post operative swelling. The surgeon experiences amazing control and precision so that optimal results are achieved. Pain is reduced or entirely eliminated. This is probably due to the sealing of nerve fibers as the laser vaporizes, coagulates, or cuts. Mechanical trauma is lessened and even normal scarring is greatly reduced. Sutures are very rarely needed because of better tissue position, less bleeding and reduced trauma. Lasers also reduce bacterial counts and create a more sterile operating field. All County Art Show

The All-County Art Show is open to grades 9 to 12, and three students per high school may be entered. The All-County presents awards for: Best in Show, Honorable Mention, Drawing, Painting, Photography, 3D, Mixed Media, and Digital Media. The Senior Scholarship portion of this show is open to high school seniors who will be attending a collegiate art program in the Fall of 2015. They need to submit 3 pieces of artwork along with a typed essay component entitled, “What Inspires You as an Artist?” Only one Senior per high school is permitted to enter. A $500 scholarship will be awarded to the winner.
