PSEG Long Island Asks Massapequans To Help Their Neighbors In Need
PSEG Long Island’s Power to Feed Long Island food drive is coming to Massapequa on Friday, June 12, from 9 AM to 4 PM. Now in its sixth year, food collection bins and a drive-through option will be set up at the Stop & Shop supermarket located at 702 Hicksville Road in Massapequa. Community members are encouraged to come down and donate nonperishable food, household essentials, and baby and pet food to help their neighbors facing food insecurity. Customers making donations will be offered free LED light bulbs and reusable shopping bags.
During the summer months, there is a significant reduction in food donations to local food banks, pantries and other programs. And year round, hundreds of thousands of Long Islanders struggle with food insecurity and supporting their families. Information about

East Lake Kindergartners Give Their Mom A Tea-Rific Tribute

The snacks were sweet and so was the company as kindergartners welcomed special guests for the annual Mother’s Day tea on May 5 at East Lake Elementary School in the Massapequa School District.
Youngsters gathered in the cafeteria shortly after the school day began and their faces lit up as their mothers or grandmothers arrived to spend about an hour together. Students first sang a song and recited a poem together. Then, their guests joined them at the table to nosh on cookies and cinnamon buns and sip on iced tea. In advance of the Mother’s Day celebration, students made placemats,
tissue paper corsages, hand-drawn portraits and “All About My Mom” booklets. One of the walls was decorated in paper flowers, on which each student wrote adjectives to describe his or her mother. The event ended with hugs as the special guests departed with their gifts.

To help residents looking to obtain new passports, Oyster Bay Town Clerk Richard LaMarca announced that his office will offer a special onestop Passport Weekend on Saturday, June 6th and Sunday, June 7th from 9am to 3pm at both Town Hall North in Oyster Bay and Town Hall South in Massapequa. Residents are required to book appointments in advance. Requirements for applying for a passport include: One 2×2 color photograph with a clear view of the applicant’s face against a plain white or light colored background. Photos will also be available for $10 at both Town Halls North and South during Passport Weekend.

Village Of Bayville Water Department Wins Nassau Section Of Water Tasting Contest Greenlawn
To celebrate National Drinking Water Week, the Long Island Water Conference (LIWC) hosted its 38th annual Drinking Water Tasting Contest at Farmingdale State College from Tuesday, May 5 to Wednesday, May 6. 17 water providers from across Long Island competed for the title of best drinking water in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, respectively. This year’s winners were the Greenlawn Water District for Suffolk County and the Incorporated Village of Bayville Water Department for Nassau County.

as a fun, light-hearted way for Long Island’s water providers to connect with students and residents from throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties, educating them about everything providers do to deliver high-quality water service every single day.
We hope our participants gained a greater sense of appreciation for their drinking water, and congratulations to the Village of Bayville and the Greenlawn Water District for coming out on top of the competition.”

A trained specialist from the Nassau County Office of Mental Health, Chemical Dependency & Developmental Disabilities Services will
discuss signs of an opiate overdose, overdose risk factors, recognizing and responding to an overdose, administration of Naloxone (Narcan), and new treatment approaches. Registration For Sunrise And Sunset Beach Yoga Underway
Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman Vicki Walsh announced that registration for the Town’s Beach Yoga Program is now underway. Classes will be held at both the north shore, at Beekman Beach in Oyster Bay, and the south shore, at Philip B. Healey Beach at Florence Avenue in Massapequa. The program will run for 10 weeks beginning on June 15th and include options for sunrise and sunset sessions.
Councilwoman Walsh stated, “Our Beach Yoga Program offers a unique and relaxing experience that blends the mindful movements of yoga
with the natural beauty of the sunrise or sunset, all while surrounded by the calming atmosphere of the beach. These guided sessions promote strength, clarity, and balance against an inspiring coastal setting designed to restore overall well-being.”
