A small study from researchers at University College London found that black tea drinkers had significantly lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol than non-tea drinkers within 50 minutes of experiencing a stress-inducing event. The study also found that black tea drinkers expressed themselves in a more relaxed way than non-tea drinkers within 50 minutes of a stressful experience.

The Girl Scouts of Suffolk County will host its inaugural “Tough Cookie” 5K Run & Family Fun Walk, bringing together runners, families, Girl Scouts and community supporters for a day of fitness, fun and fundraising, on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Camp Edey, 1500 Lakeview Avenue, Bayport, NY 11705. This is a rain or shine event.
The event will include a competitive 5K race beginning at 9 a.m., followed by a 1-mile untimed Family Fun Walk at 11 a.m. Family Fun Day activities, including games, crafts, music, yoga, face painting and more, will run throughout the morning.
“This event is about bringing families and the community together while supporting opportunities that help girls build courage, confidence and character,” said Tammy Severino, President & CEO of Girl Scouts of Suffolk County. “Whether you’re running the 5K,
participating in the family walk or simply coming out to enjoy the activities, everyone can play a role in creating experiences that empower girls, open doors to new opportunities and help them discover their full potential.”
Proceeds from the event will support Girl Scouts of Suffolk County programs, including leadership development, STEM education, entrepreneurship opportunities, scholarships, outdoor adventure experiences and camp programming for girls throughout Suffolk County.
Media are invited to attend and cover the event, which is expected to feature colorful visuals, community participation and interviews with organizers, Girl Scouts, families and supporters.

Meet The Horses At Pal-O-Mine’s Family Event
The entire community is invited to celebrate the Year of the Horse at Pal-O-Mine Equestrian’s “The Mane Event,” a family-friendly festival where kids and adults of all ages will get to experience the magic of the organization’s 13-acre horse farm. The event will take place on Friday, June 19, from 2 to 6 p.m., during the school holiday that honors Juneteenth, at Pal-O-Mine, 829 Old Nichols Road in Islandia.
The Mane Event will feature a parade of PalO-Mine’s many breeds of horses, special riding demonstrations, interactive games, and educational activities. Guests will also meet other residents of the farm, including sheep, donkeys, and chickens, and have the chance to interact with all of the animals.

Equestrian: Pal-O-Mine Equestrian began in 1995 as a therapeutic horseback riding program for individuals with disabilities and other vulnerable populations. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive therapeutic equine program to facilitate growth, learning and healing for children and adults with disabilities, survivors of trauma, veterans, first responders, individuals on the autism spectrum and many others.
