West Islip’s Class Of 2026 Return For Special Elementary Visit
Members of the West Islip High School Class of 2026 took a special trip down memory lane on June 15 as they returned to their elementary schools for the annual Senior Clapout.
As the soon-to-be graduates walked through the hallways wearing their caps and gowns, elementary students lined the corridors with congratulatory signs, cheers and applause to celebrate the seniors’ accomplishments and upcoming graduation.
The visit provided a meaningful opportunity for the Class of 2026 to reconnect with former teachers and staff members, revisit the places where their educational journeys began, and reflect on the memories they created throughout their years in the district.
The Senior Clapout was a heartwarming celebration that brought generations of students together and highlighted the strong sense of community that makes West Islip special. Congratulations to the Class of 2026!

SUMMER CONCERT
The New York State Office of Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation is thrilled to announce the 2026 Bandshell Summer Concert Series at Jones Beach State Park! The Bandshell hosts free events at the Field 4 Boardwalk. This event is our way to get people to sing, dance, and laugh with friends and family at the beach. Every night through September 6th (excluding July 1st –July 6th) we have programming for everyone to enjoy. Students from Udall Middle School in the West Islip Union Free School District, under the guidance of business teacher Patricia Stack, made an impressive debut in the Stock Market Game, demonstrating their financial knowledge, teamwork and ability to apply real-world concepts in a competitive environment.
During the late spring session, Udall Road students competed against 302 Long Island high school teams and achieved outstanding results, with six students in the top 11. Congratulations to Christian Busking (No. 2), Liam McKendry (No. 4), Wyatt Freund (No. 7), Ryan Abi-Zeid (No. 9), Mikey Vandenberg (No. 10) and Jake Tyler (No. 11).
The students also earned exceptional statewide recognition, with eight teams placing in the top 100 out of 1,729 teams across New York State. The Stock Market Game provided students with a hands-on opportunity to explore investing, financial decisionmaking and economic concepts while working collaboratively with their peers. Through research, strategy and teamwork, students gained valuable experience connecting classroom learning to real-world financial skills.
Udall Middle School’s success highlights the power of providing students with meaningful opportunities to develop financial literacy and apply their knowledge in authentic ways.

Islip Town Unveils New Serenity Garden
The Serenity Garden, located at 50 Irish Lane in East Islip, was built in partnership with the Town of Islip Parks Foundation and the community. Designed to be enjoyed by residents of all abilities, the sensory park features four distinct quadrants tailored to the needs of individuals with Alzheimer's disease or dementia, those on the autism spectrum, seniors and veterans, and individuals who are visually or hearing impaired.
"The Serenity Garden is a beautiful example of what can be accomplished when a community comes together with a shared vision," said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter. "Made possible through the generosity of private donors and community partners, with no taxpayer dollars used, this park provides a serene space for residents of all abilities to connect, reflect, and enjoy the outdoors. We are thrilled to finally see this long-awaited project ready for visitors!"
The grand opening drew a major turnout, with tremendous community support and residents gathering to celebrate and experience the park's unique amenities firsthand.
