The celebration honored JoAnn Boettcher as the guest of honor, recognizing her decades of dedicated service to the Village of Lindenhurst and her lasting contributions to the community. The event was co-hosted by the Village of Lindenhurst and the Lindenhurst
For the last three decades, JoAnn Boettcher has been one of the most prominent and influential community servants throughout the Village of Lindenhurst and Town of Babylon. She presently serves as President Emeritus of the Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce – after serving as President for 28 years – and is amidst her third term as President of the Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst. She is also a member of the Babylon Rotary Club and Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and has served on the Lindenhurst High School Business Advisory Board for more than 17 years. She also serves the on the board of the Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts and the Suffolk County Downtown Revitalization Citizens Advisory Panel, as well as it’s Grant Program Committee. Professionally, JoAnn boasts more than 40 years of real estate experience, having been awarded Douglas Elliman Real Estate’s Diamond, Pinnacle and Lifetime Achievement Awards and ranking amongst the top 4% of realtors company wide. JoAnn has had the pleasure of making the dream of home ownership possible for thousands of families. Two LHS Students Take Part In Exclusive Art Workshop Two Lindenhurst High School art students, Cassandra Herrador and Nina Bednarczyk, were recently selected to participate in an exclusive “all-Island” workshop sponsored by the New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA). They were among a distinguished group of only
24 student-artists from across Nassau and Suffolk counties chosen for this honor. The invitation was extended following their exemplary performance in the NYSATA Spring 2025 portfolio adjudication, a comprehensive review where students present their finished artwork, discuss
their creative process, and conduct a self-assessment with an adjudicator. The students joined peers from districts including Babylon, Hicksville, Mattituck, and William Floyd for the inaugural event. The workshop was led by Long Islandbased multimedia artist and activist Andres
Gallardo. Gallardo shared his personal artistic journey and the inspiration behind his unique use of vinyl records as a medium. Students had the opportunity to create their own original works on vinyl albums under his direct guidance.

To ensure a smooth transition, the Planning and Building Department, including zoning, rental and accessory apartment divisions, will pause accepting applications from January 28 through February 1, 2026 while the migration to OpenGov is finalized. During the month of February, the zoning, planning, rental and accessory apartment review boards will not meet as staff completes onboarding and transitioning. “This modernization is a major step forward for our residents, homeowners, and business community,” Supervisor Rich Schaffer said. “By bringing the Planning and Building Department onto OpenGov, we are making
the application process more efficient, more transparent, and far more convenient. This upgrade ensures that Babylon continues providing responsive, 21st-century
service to everyone who calls our town home.” Detailed instructions and tutorials will be available to assist applicants in navigating the new system.
