espite intimidating winds and weather, East Islip Middle School’s Team Phoenix carried on its long tradition of Boot Camp, bringing their study of the first global conflict to life. Student recruits were assigned to “platoons” and prepared to be shipped off to the “Western Front” with a full day’s training in agility, teamwork and physical fitness, simulating field conditions, planning battle and problem-solving.

The 3rd Annual All Kids Fair takes place on Sunday, April 28th, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Melville Marriott Long Island. The event is dedicated to bringing together individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations with children from birth through high school age and their families. The All Kids Fair is part education and activities expo and part health and wellness fair. In over 80 exhibitor spaces, many available programs and services will be presented, including after school activities, nutrition, special needs, camps, financial services, dental health, birthday party ideas, day cares, and tutoring. In four speaker rooms, some classes will be held just for adults and others geared towards children. Topics for the adults include Travel with Kids, Reading Comprehension, and College Funding. Classes for the children and their families to enjoy together include music, archery, sports, and martial arts. Many non-profits will be participating in this year’s event. Those who bring nonperishable food to benefit The INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network) will receive raffle tickets to win valuable prizes. Penelope’s Odyssey will offer simple cheek swabs for the lifesaving national bone marrow registry. Other non-profits include the American Airpower Museum, CHI Au Pair USA, Mid-Island Y JCC, YMCA of Long Island, and Friendship Circle. At the 2012 event, attendee, Joyce MenDell, described her experience. “My kids as well as the grownups had a great time at the fair. This was one of the best I have been to from the way it was organized to all the different vendors you had.” A new addition to this year’s event is a babysitting room, which will be free with an admission ticket. There will also be many
free activities, including cookie decorating, face painting, balloon animals, health screenings, breastfeeding support, plus free food samples and mini-massages for adults. A clown from the Big Apple Circus will entertain, and beauty queen Amy Marchany, crowned Ms. Royal America 2011-2012, will attend. The Walk/Run for Friends of Karen was started in 2007 with 25 participants and spearheaded by Evelyn Anderson, a Friends of Karen parent who wanted to run a half marathon to honor her son, Luke, diagnosed with leukemia as a toddler and now enjoying growing up with his loving family. Last year, more than 300 walkers and runners joined the team and more than $340,000 has been raised for the organization. Discovery Tank
Third-graders in Dawn Oliveri’s class at Islip’s Commack Road Elementary School received a visit from Tracy Marcus, a scientist from the Cornell Cooperative Extension, who set up a Discovery Tank in the classroom. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with an authentic, handson field science activity by cooperatively creating a 10-gallon saltwater aquarium (the Discovery
Tank) to be left as a permanent classroom educational tool. During the visit, the students were introduced to a variety of specimens that were included in the tank, including kelp, Irish moss, baby sea lettuce, a large barnacle, blue muscles, an oyster, a slipper snail and sea urchins. The Discovery Tank will be used to enrich the students’ science lessons, especially when they’re focusing on the ecosystem,

Crisis Center Alert According to a recent study issued by the Annenberg Public Policy Center, widelyheld views that there is a suicide spike during the winter holidays is untrue. Instead, suicide and suicide attempts actually spike during the spring/summer months. “We know that this finding is counter-intuitive to commonly-held beliefs,” states Theresa Buhse, Associate Executive Director, Long Island Crisis Center. “However, by correcting this myth, we can be more proactive in being suicide aware and preventive if we know the reality.” The Crisis Center urges everyone to be aware of the possible “signs of suicide:” · Sadness and crying · Increase or decrease in sleeping patterns · Boredom and listlessness · Angry shifting to silent withdrawal · Withdrawal from usual social activities, loneliness · Loss of interest in hobbies, sports, job or school · Drop in grades, inability to complete assignments or pay attention in class · Increased risk-taking · Sense of worthlessness and low self-esteem · Increased use of drugs and alcohol · Neglecting personal hygiene and appearance · Re-occurring themes of death and self-destruction in poetry, writing, artwork · Lack of plans for the future · Statements like “I want to die,” “I don’t want to live anymore,” I want to go to sleep and never wake up,” “Soon this pain will be over,” “I don’t want to be here anymore.” “While this seasonal enigma has not yet been completely explained, it is believed that during the winter, people with depression are often surrounded by persons who are feeling downhearted, too, because of the weather,” continues Ms. Buhse. “However, with the arrival of Spring, people who were feeling down because of the weather start to feel better; and people who are depressed for other reasons remain depressed. A Special Season Bouncing back from a tragic loss to claim the title of Suffolk County champions, the East Islip varsity boys bowling team played through a historymaking year. Their team average per game was 1,116, which works out to 223 per man, a Suffolk County record. Two of East Islip’s bowlers, senior Mike Kissel and junior Jacob
Klein, averaged 230 or better this season. Both of them, along with junior Nick DeFazio, were named All-State, All-Conference and All-League bowlers. Additionally, Jon Cheadle was given All-Conference and All-League honors and Steve Rourke achieved AllLeague recognition. This year proved to be an outstanding comeback for the Redmen from a
disappointing 2011-2012 season. “Last year the boys had a lot of talent but were very young and unproven and did not perform like they should have,” said East Islip’s head coach Bob Cheadle. “As soon as the last season ended, the kids dedicated themselves to better practice routines, working harder and caring about each other. Team goals came first.”
“Reaching the highest level they could reach and maintaining that level all season, that’s an impressive thing to see young kids do,” Cheadle added. “They kept their focus and sense of teamwork, never letting it slip or letting individual agendas get in the way.” Much of the team’s success can be attributed to the strong instruction of Cheadle, but a great deal

can also be traced to the legacy he inherited from former head coach Rick Papandrea, who died last November. “Rick Papandrea was a beloved coach and a fixture in the bowling community for many years here in East Islip, and he will be missed,” remarked Stephen Restivo, East Islip’s director of athletics, health and physical education. “The players dedicated this year to his memory, and Coach Cheadle is now carrying on a great program here in East Islip.” “Rick and I had been friends since our teen years,” explained Harold Cooley, the coach of East Islip’s varsity girls bowling team. “His passing and battle with cancer was a surprise to everyone. Rick always had a passion for bowling and helping anyone who came to him for help. He was the type of person that would be willing to help you in any way he could, even at his expense. He was a diehard New York Yankee fan, a great bowling coach and a best friend to all. He will be missed by all who knew him but never forgotten.” A member of the PBA Tour since the 1970s, Papandrea later opened Rick’s Pro Shop at East Islip Lanes, which was renamed The Right Approach. He served as head coach of the East Islip boys varsity team for 10 years, although he had helped as an unpaid assistant coach for the Redmen for many years prior. In his decade at the helm of the boys bowling program, Papandrea’s teams won four county titles and a well-earned state championship, and he was elected as president of the Suffolk County Bowling Coaches Association. “Rick transformed the program from a nonentity to a perennial power,” Cheadle stated. “As a former pro bowler, his knowledge of the game was at a different level than the average coach. We are
a team to beat because of him.” The New York State victory was his proudest achievement, according to Cooley. “His teams won three Suffolk County championships, but Rick was most proud of the state championship in 2008,” he said. “That year both the girls and boys teams won New York State championships – the first time in state history that the same high school won both the girls and the boys titles.” Papandrea’s tough seven-month fight against stomach cancer began with his initial diagnosis last May, which was later complicated by an infection. Members of the team visited Papandrea in the hospital in September, by which time the health and demeanor of the gregarious coach had worsened. “It was clear that he wasn’t going to be able to coach,” said Cheadle, who had been his assistant. Papandrea died on November 4th, 2012 at age 53, two weeks prior to the beginning of his bowling team’s season. After his loss, Papandrea’s student-athletes made a vow to work even harder and to perform with a stronger sense of purpose as a dedication to their coach’s memory. This extra preseason training bound them together, according to Cheadle, who was promoted to head coach. “In the beginning there was just the raw emotion of Rick’s passing,” he said, “but by the time that the season was ready to start, they had transformed themselves into a true team.” At the 2012-2013 season opener on November 29th, at home against North Babylon, the East Islip boys began their season domination with 22 consecutive strikes. Cheadle described it as an amazing feat, saying,

Continued From 6 “Very few adult men’s teams could do that.” Redmen bowlers Cheadle (700 series), Kissel (746), Klein (768) and Rourke (729) all rolled over a 700 series, and their team total of 3,620 proved to be a landmark. “At the time it was the third highest pin total in county history,” said Cheadle. “To accomplish that two weeks after burying their coach – it told me that nobody was going to beat us. Collectively they were ready to go.” Their late coach was never far from their thoughts, though. “To me, that day was all about him,” said a visibly moved Cheadle, struggling to fight back his tears. “The kids had been practicing really hard for months, knowing he was sick, and their first game without him was the first game of the season.” Icons of Papandrea’s
motivational spirit were everywhere during the season, from the letters spelling “RICK” stitched on the team’s bowling shirt sleeves and memorial words scrolling on the East Islip Lanes monitors, to bowler Klein’s ritual of talking to the late coach before throwing the ball. His most obvious bequest, however, was one of knowledge. “I teach them the way he taught me,” explained Cheadle, who also credits Papandrea with improving his own bowling game. At the annual singles and doubles tournament on January 9th, sponsored by the Suffolk coaches association, East Islip confirmed their immense talent. This tournament is particularly important, according to Cheadle, because it’s set up as two divisions: singles and doubles. The

winner of the singles competition receives an automatic berth on the All-State team. Every team in Suffolk County participates, with over 200 competing this year. Ten bowlers in the singles tournament advance to the finals, and this year, three out of those 10 were Redmen: Cheadle, DeFazio and eventual singles champion Klein. In the doubles competition, four teams advance to the championship round. Two pairs in this year’s final four – Anthony Riggi and Dylan Woltje, and Michael Orabello and Michael Riolo – were from East Islip, giving the Redmen a total of seven out of 18 finalists overall for the tournament. “All of the best bowlers in the county were there and we gave a dominant performance,” said Cheadle. “It was
another indication of just how good our team was going to be this year.” In one January contest, Kissel bowled a perfect game. In a secondary varsity match that same day, Riggi likewise scored 300. “It was a big deal,” Cheadle said with deserved pride. At the last match of the season against Copiague on January 24th, East Islip shot a team pin total of 3,635, beating their own record. What Cheadle called “a total team effort” included a 1,298 first game, the highest game of the year in Suffolk. The East Islip team won the Suffolk County Bowling Championship on February 2nd at Sayville Lanes, scoring a team total of 6,801 for the day, the highest total team pinfall ever in the county championships. Their game 4 score of 1,298 was

also the top team game ever in county history. Kissell bowled a 300 in one game, his second perfect effort of the year. “That was a big day,” said Cheadle with understatement. “Winning the county championship is actually more stressful than bowling in the state championship. When you have the kind of season we did, everyone expects you to win county. Moving on to the state competition was a chance to exhale.” Before their postseason continued, however, they made sure they had not forgotten Papandrea or their vow to honor him. The new champions held up a picture of their late coach in the winning team photo before heading off to the state championships. “Our team performance at the county championship raised the bar,” said Cheadle, “and it added

The Complaint Dept. By: Jamie Lynn Ryan They say the customer is always right, and yet… I recently had the pleasure of contacting the DMV regarding an error in the address printed on my registration. Silly me, I had sent the renewal in by snail mail rather than utilize their online services for this one thing, and then had proceeded to wait approximately three weeks for my new registration sticker to arrive. Relieved as I was to eventually receive it in time, something made me examine the information extra closely – and there it was, the typo. As per the instructions on the form, I immediately contacted my local DMV call center to report the mistake, figuring a new one would need to be issued. After waiting on hold for, oh,
about 20 minutes or so, I was finally transferred to a human – who promptly transferred me to yet another “department” (the complaint department?) for further assistance. More hold music. At least another 15 minutes spent waiting. And waiting... And then, finally, a voice came on the line. I explained the issue. Silence. “Hello?” I said, thinking perhaps the line had gone dead. “Yeah. So what’s the problem? You got it, didn’t you?” was the reply I was met with. “Um, yes, I received it, but the address is incorrect… and it says to contact you to correct it…?” I was beyond perplexed at having to explain any further at this point. “Yeah well, it’s correct on your license, and all they really pay attention to is your name and street number – the town doesn’t matter.” Okay then. “Ok,” I said, “Well then I guess
can you at least change it internally in your system, just so it’s correct for the future?” A giant sigh of exasperation came through the receiver. “Yeah. I guess so. You want the typo fixed?” (Wasn’t that what I just said?) “Um, yes, if it’s not too much trouble.” (Which, apparently, it was.) I then heard the pounding of fingers on the keyboard. I don’t think it would have been possible for this woman to make more noise typing three letters if she tried. “Is that all?” Oh yes, that was all. Why would I ever choose to prolong this conversation for even another second? Honestly, if the hold time wasn’t so extensive, I would have hung up and called back just to reach a different customer service rep. But, with my luck, this woman was probably the only one on duty that day.
Local H.S. Students Race For Autism By: Tyler Cianciulli Autism is a debilitating mental disorder that will affect 1 in every 88 children born this year. That means in 2013, in New York State alone, nearly 3,000 children will be diagnosed with Autism. For high school students like myself, this really hits close to home. For the second consecutive year, Friends of Port Rowing held the annual Row for Autism. Waking up at 4 am., hundreds of students, parents and coaches flocked to Port Washington to take part in one of the most unique fundraisers ever to hit Long Island. Approximately one
dozen of Long Island’s finest rowing teams fundraised and competed on April 13th in an effort to raise awareness and help find a cure for this lifelong ailment. Each Rowing Team fundraised hundreds of dollars for the cause by selling items that were created to spread knowledge about the effects and treatment of Autistic children. When the donations had concluded, the teams raced. This 1750 meter course was designed to test both our minds and our endurance. As a whole we were united, but secretly everyone wanted to bring home a gold medal. Unfortunately, my team,
St. John the Baptist DHS, didn’t bring home a medal, but we still fared well. My boat, the Varsity 8-man placed 4th, competitively. Many of our other boats also did well. For the second year in a row, a group of high school kids merged against a disorder that will hopefully not be an issue in the future. Being of able minds and bodies, we did what we knew best and helped to promote knowledge and resolution to an issue that affects everyone. With any luck, our work, perseverance and donations will help to bring an end to a cause that influences so many.

Black Tie Gala East Islip’s For the Kids Foundation held its 16th Annual Black Tie Gala at Land’s End in Sayville on March 9th, celebrating another year of unprecedented fundraising efforts to benefit the East Islip School District’s students. This year’s Gala, themed “An Affair To Remember,” honored two of East Islip’s most committed educational leaders. Christopher Neske, a prominent music teacher at East Islip High School, was named Educator Advocate of the Year, while Patricia Diesu, the former FTK president, was chosen as Community Advocate of the Year. Both Neske and Diesu were recognized for their important contributions and longtime dedication to FTK and the East Islip community. “We were thrilled to honor Chris Neske and Patty Diesu, as they are two individuals who truly embody all that FTK stands for and we are thankful for their commitment to the Foundation,” said Nancy Goldfader, FTK’s president. Christopher Neske grew up in the East Islip community, attending Timber Point Elementary, Islip Terrace Junior High School (now East Islip Middle School) and East Islip High School, where he graduated in 2002. He credits the community, school district and East Islip’s vibrant music department for his love for education, which ultimately inspired him to become a music teacher. Neske attended Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y., where he double majored in music education and oboe performance. At Ithaca, Neske held principal oboe positions in the college’s symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra and wind ensemble, and was a member of the Oracle Society, Pi Kappa Lambda and Phi Kappa Phi. Upon his 2006 graduation from Ithaca, Neske was fortunate to obtain his first teaching position at East Islip Middle School. After a year of teaching sixth-grade band at the middle school, he moved over to the high school, where he now directs East Islip’s concert band and wind ensemble, teaches AP Music Theory, and acts as the adviser for the annual school musical’s stage crew and the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Neske also serves as the secretary for the East Islip Teachers’ Association, is a delegate to the New York State United Teachers and American Federation of Teachers, and holds the position of assistant vice president for the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association. He also serves as a member of the School Improvement Team and the School Based Inquiry Team. During the summers, Neske is a member of the faculty at Ithaca College’s Summer Music Academy. He has played oboe with the Atlantic Wind Symphony, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra and Nassau-Suffolk Alumni
Wind Symphony, and has guest conducted for the Nassau Music Educators Association and the Atlantic Wind Symphony. Neske’s involvement with For the Kids began when he was 15 years old, participating as one of the group’s student interns. Since then he has been a volunteer at numerous FTK events and fundraisers, supporting its efforts any way he can. “I have always been inspired by the dedication and selflessness of the leadership, past and present, of this organization,” Neske stated. “I am forever indebted to the East Islip School District for providing me with an unmatched level of education that helped me realize so many dreams, and I hope that I can continue to help East Islip provide countless students with the same
opportunities and education that were afforded to me.” Known for her longtime involvement with the For the Kids Foundation, Patricia Diesu’s unwavering dedication to the East Islip community has been rewarded with the PTA Jenkins Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award and the Tri-M Honorary Life Membership Award. She was also honored by Suffolk County Legislator Tom Cilmi for her leadership and exemplary service to the community. Diesu and her husband Dwayne purchased their first home in Islip Terrace in 1984, the result of the priority that the couple put on residing in a community with a good school district where they could raise their family. They later moved to East Islip. While her children were attending John F. Kennedy Elementary School, Diesu began to volunteer in support of the school community. For the past 20 years, Diesu has dedicated her time to enhance the education of the students who attend the East Islip School District. She was a committed supporter of FTK from the organization’s inception in 1995. She collaborated with FTK founder Hellen Barbara in 2003, chairing the group’s Black Tie event. When Barbara stepped down, Diesu took on the role of president of the FTK Foundation, and devoted countless

An East Islip High School student orchestra performed classical and soundtrack pieces during the cocktail hour, providing the perfect backdrop to conversation, dining and auction basket browsing. Serving as a model for similar organizations across Long Island, FTK has donated over $1 million for East Islip’s scholastic programs over the last 16 years. The Foundation donated $70,000 alone for the 2012-13 school year to enrich the educational experience for the district’s children. That remarkable gift was used to restore many of the clubs and activities that were not funded in the year’s budget. The Black Tie Gala serves as a scintillating reminder of just how special and irreplaceable the organization is to the East Islip school community. “On behalf of the FTK Board, I would like to thank the entire community, who give selflessly and enthusiastically, which allows us to make meaningful and productive contributions,” said Goldfader. “Special thanks go to Chairperson Gina VanDenburg, who truly made this event ‘an affair to remember.’”

The teachers here at East Islip really care about what we are doing to help our pupils succeed, which is why we all devote so much time and energy to helping them meet and even exceed these new standards.” On February 4th the freshman cooperative groups went into action, working together to create their thematic games. They were given blank game boards, with the only solid guideline being that the ensuing games must be “related and connected” to the literature that they had read about the Great Depression, such as To Kill A Mockingbird and Of Mice And Men. Each game had to contain a game board, pieces, a clear objective to win the game and written rules. Additional challenges
were to incorporate such elements as symbolism, irony and foreshadowing. During the project, the students conducted research on the history of board games during the Great Depression; for example, they investigated how The Landlord Game evolved into the worldfamous Monopoly. The student groups then played and evaluated each other’s completed board games on February 5th and 6th. “In this case, my students both discovered and taught about the Great Depression era,” said Kguloian. “These games that they created together show how learning can be fun.”
The first week of March was a culinary event at Connetquot Elementary as each of the fourth-grade classes celebrated Music In Our Schools Month by performing and cooking “rats” for lunch, an annual event based on American children’s author Jack Prelutsky’s poem, Rat for Lunch. The fourth-graders read the poem, culled from Prelutsky’s 1996 book of poetry, “A Pizza the Size of the Sun,” and then selected verses to create a musical tone poem. In
music class the students studied percussion instruments – both pitched and non-pitched, including bells, xylophones and egg shakers – to produce accompaniment for the poem, incorporating musical form, ostinato, dynamics, tempo, time signature recognition and proper vocal technique. Cooperation among all of the young musicians was essential in order for them to listen for musical cues during the performance. The Connetquot students also created
advertisements and menus for a special “luncheon.” Parents were invited to see the ads, listen to and watch the musical performance, and then partake of the “rats,” created by the children from Little Debbie Cloud Cakes (for the body), M&M’s (eyes), Skittles (nose), miniature fudge cookies (ears) and Twizzlers licorice sticks (tail), all held together with cake icing.
Following up last year’s victory at the Long Island Media Arts Show, East Islip High School students came away with two Best In Show awards at the 2013 event, held on March 19th at Five Towns College in Dix Hills. Students from three different East Islip classrooms – James Connell’s Video Production class, Harold Kench’s Broadcast Television class and Joy Taylor’s Graphic Communication and Photography class
– attended the annual competition this year. A total of 13 photography students from East Islip presented their work, with Gabriella Marino chosen as Best in Show for Photography. Brendan Bullard and Brian Potter were repeat winners, claiming Best in Show in the Video category for their film “Slap Stick Figures 2.” Bullard, Potter and the now-graduated David Tekverk’s preceding “Slap Stick Figures” won the top award at last year’s
show. East Islip student John Callagy was also recognized in the Recommended Summer Media Arts Program category for his video “The Vigilante.” Other videos presented by East Islip broadcast television students included Bullard’s “The Stipulation,” Potter’s “The Slender Vlog” and Gabrielle Palmieri and Brianna Stephen’s “The Dream.”

Freshmen in Gregory Kguloian’s class in East Islip High School recently worked cooperatively to create their own Great Depression-inspired board games in a special “research, read and create” unit designed to make history fun. “They had the freedom to make this project into anything that they could imagine,” said Kguloian. “This is part of what the Common Core Learning Standards have encouraged 21st-century teachers to utilize when we endeavor to educate our nation’s young people. It is not just to teach the required literature in a vacuum – it is to immerse this generation in the knowledge that has been learned via previous generations. Students in teacher Kelly Schwender’s Child Development and Parenting course at East Islip High School recently held a game board competition, one of many special programs the class provides as a bridge between high schoolers and younger children. “The class is unique and special because they get hands-on experience working with preschool children in our own community,” explained Schwender, who has taught the course at East Islip for 17 years. “Education is constantly changing,” she added. “I’m forever looking for and creating new ways to reach all the
children and teach them skills to prepare them for kindergarten.” Her students were given a month to design and create a game board involving colors, shapes and letter recognition, one that was not only fun, personal and age-appropriate but that also could serve as a valuable tool for learning. Schwender showed her class over 30 examples beforehand, inspiring their creativity while implementing the Common Core State Standards for pre-K and kindergarten children, which include counting, recognizing numbers and shapes, math skills, sequencing, and patterns.
The students worked tirelessly the last two weeks before the deadline on all of their off periods as well as after school in order to add the necessary final details. They then voted for the top game boards in their class for both periods 3 and 4. “They far exceeded my expectations,” said an admiring Schwender. “We had several ties because they were simply amazing. The youngsters were more than thrilled to play them.” The games then went on display for students’ families to view.

Emil Stewart along with honorary member Lauren Pinka. Stephan DeTuris of the student council served as referee for the day, while teacher/emcee Carene Mahoney provided sidesplitting commentary. “The crowd was enthusiastic and the event was a huge success,” said teacher and student council adviser Frances Li. “It was a fun way to wind down the week before our much-needed spring break and the high school is buzzing with people talking about it. Next year’s tournament will be even better.”

Art In The Hall
This April marks a full year since Islip Town launched its Art in the Hall project. This project features a collection of work from selected artists. These pieces can range from photographs and screen prints, physical art such as oils or watercolors, or digital art and mixed mediums. These collections are usually between 15 and
20 pieces and each artist’s work is featured for a twomonth period. A reception is held in conjunction with each new exhibit, promoting and publicizing the works that are showcased and celebrating the efforts of each outstanding artist. The works are displayed in the corridors of Islip Town Hall for all residents and employees to admire.

The Town has a display system that provides versatility to accommodate all sizes and shapes of frames. This system makes it easy to rotate art work and does not damage any piece of work or the walls they hang on. “This project helps beautify the Town’s main Town Hall building while providing exposure for up and coming artists to our residents. It is an honor to work with so many talented individuals who have expanded the Town of Islip’s sense of culture,” said Supervisor Tom Croci. The Town works with the Islip Arts Council, who relies on the Islip Art Committee to select each artist. Submissions are open to everyone with a submission fee of $35, or $25 if you are a member of the Islip Arts Council. Once selected, the artist will be featured at an opening ceremony. Each artist is required to list a price for anyone interested in purchasing a piece of art, or list them as “NFS,” not for sale. A companion catalog is available during each exhibit that lists titles and descriptions, prices, and background and contact information for each artist. “The Art in the Hall project is a wonderful opportunity for any artist to display their artwork. It gives the Town a unique chance to advertise these most deserving artists and increase art awareness throughout our community,” said Lynda Moran, Executive Director of the Islip Arts Council.
