Catholic Health Services Offers Tips to Reduce COVID-19 Anxiety anxiety is important. Typical stress reactions can include temporary difficulty concentrating, irritability, fatigue, stomachache and difficulty sleeping. Atypical reactions can manifest in persistent and/or excessive worry that prevents you from completing daily tasks, changes to energy levels, eating patterns and/or prolonged and overwhelming worry. Dr. Brenner strongly suggests that anyone experiencing unusual or atypical reactions that won’t subside in a short period of time seek professional mental health assistance. To reduce coronavirusrelated anxiety, there are several steps individuals can take. These include: • Find meaningful tasks and roles within your support network to channel your anxiety • Create spaces that are not focused on coronavirus. This could include a social media thread on other topics, or watching movies • Savor small positive moments, amplify positive stories and stay optimistic • Practice mindfulness when managing anxiety such as performing exercises and
deep breathing. For those who wish to speak to a mental health professional, CHS offers a host of services including Telepsychiatry, which improves access to psychiatric services for emergency department (ED) patients, particularly after normal office hours. PSEG Long Island and PSEG Foundation Support Island Harvest Food Bank Efforts PSEG Long Island and the PSEG Foundation are supporting the Island Harvest Food Bank in its response to critical community needs throughout Long Island as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. The mission of Island Harvest Food Bank is to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island. The PSEG Foundation provided the Island Harvest Food Bank a grant of $45,000 to address rising food insecurity, including children who do not have access to school feeding programs because their schools are temporarily closed because of the public health crisis. Island Harvest Food Bank, which relies mostly on donations of surplus food by commercial food establishments,

Tricarico To Play Hockey For Canisius College East Islip High School senior Will Tricarico signed a National Letter of Intent on Feb. 10 to continue his ice hockey career at Canisius College in Buffalo, where he will play for the Division 1 Golden Griffins. He plans on majoring in sports management. In 2014, Tricarico was recognized by the Nassau County Legislature for demonstrating
commitment, leadership and dedication when his PAL hockey team represented the United States in the United World Games Lighthouse Tournament in Harbin, China. As captain of the East Islip High School Ice Hockey Club, coached by Danny Barbarito and Robby Miller, Tricarico ended his senior season with 24 goals and 21 assists, placing him fifth
in the ranking of Suffolk County High School Hockey League varsity scoring leaders. He also plays travel hockey with the No. 2-ranked Long Island Rebels U18 team coached by Frank Dell’Isola. Both of Tricarico’s teams will play in the state championships this year. During his time at East Islip High School, he also was a member of the school’s varsity golf and tennis teams.
