T h e Twilight Wish Foundation is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization whose mission is to honor and enrich the lives of seniors through intergenerational Twilight Wish celebrations. Since the organization’s founding in 2003, their goal has been to make the world a nicer place to age, one Twilight Wish at a time. When a Twilight Wish is granted, a senior is recognized for all that they have done throughout their lives and is shown that they are appreciated and valued. To date, the Twilight Wish Foundation has granted over 3,700 wishes throughout our country and multiple wishes have being granted on Long Island recently! These wishes have ranged from simple needs wishes, such as shaving razors for nursing home veterans, to living life to the fullest wishes, such as going cross country in a tractor trailer truck. Recently, many Long Island residents had their wishes come true. Below is a story about Patricia, who recently had her wish granted. You could be next! Patricia Bachmore is a 75 year old resident of Amityville. She wished for new furniture and thanks to the Long Island chapter of this national nonprofit, her wish was granted! Patricia has fostered and socialized rescue kittens and cats for years. Understandably, that took a toll on her furniture. Although the furniture was old and falling apart, she could not afford to replace it on her own because of her limited income. In December of 2020, The Twilight Wish Foundation granted her with a new sofa and kitchen chairs, which she wished for. In addition to her work with rescue organizations, Patricia is part of the Amityville neighborhood watch program and also works with the Town
of Babylon’s 311 citizens complaint unit. She also assists other senior citizens in her mobile home park with grocery shopping and other errands. THANK YOU PATRICIA FOR ALL OF YOUR SELFLESS EFFORTS! You can qualify for a Twilight Wish if you are at least 65 years old, are a legal U.S. citizen, demonstrate financial need, provide a history of giving back to others and possess the cognitive, emotional and physical ability to experience the wish. Please note, when going to grant a wish, this foundation takes all the necessary safety precautions.
