NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the qualified voters of the East Islip Union Free School District of East Islip, Suffolk County, New York, that pursuant to a resolution of the Board of Trustees of the East Islip Public Library adopted February 9, 2023 a Special School District Meeting will be held in the East Islip Public Library, 381 East Main Street, East Islip, New York on the 4th day of April 2023 at 10:00 O’clock a.m., prevailing time, for the purpose of voting by voting booths (paper ballot) upon a proposition adopting the annual budget for the support and maintenance of the East Islip Public Library for the fiscal year 2023/2024, and further providing for the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of said School District for that portion of the budget to be raised by taxes. One Trustee will be elected for a full five (5) year term beginning July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2028, the last incumbent of said position is John E. Flynn.

The petition for the office of Trustee of the East Islip Public Library shall be directed to the Clerk of the School District; shall be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the School District or two (2%)
percent of the voters who voted in the previous annual Library election of members to the Library Board of Trustees, whichever is greater, shall state the residence of each signer, the name and residence of the candidate being nominated for the office of Trustee of the East Islip Public Library and shall describe the specific vacancy on the Board of Trustees for which the candidate is nominated; which description shall include at least the length of term of office and the name of the last incumbent. Each petition shall be filed with the Clerk of the East Islip Union Free School District not later than 5:00 p.m., prevailing time, on Monday, March 6, 2023.
