Alzheimer’s Foundation, DA’s Office, Babylon Town Clerk To Host Senior Scam Prevention Program Feb. 25
The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA), Babylon Town Clerk Gerry Compitello, and Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney will host a free senior scam prevention program on Wednesday, February 25, at 10 a.m. at the AFA Barbara Rabinowitz Education & Resource Center in Amityville.
The program, Preventing the Financial Exploitation of Seniors, will educate attendees on common scams, warning signs, steps to protect against fraud and identity theft, and how to respond if victimized. Deer Park’s Jayden Rivers, a seventh grader at Robert Frost Middle School, was recently named a finalist in Vocal Division I of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York’s Concerto and Vocal Competition. Out of 80 competitors, only 16 finalists were selected to perform on Feb. 4 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Cold Spring Harbor. Winners, chosen by a panel of guest judges, will receive a $500 award and the opportunity to perform as a soloist with their MYO ensemble during the 2026–2027 season. Graziano will perform trumpet with the MYO on March 22 at Adelphi University and on May 9 at Carnegie Hall.
Rivers is in his first year as a vocalist with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra Suffolk Treble Choir. MYO praised his application recording for its professional presentation, beautiful tone, expressiveness and intonation. For the competition, he will perform the Italian aria “Alma del Core” by Antonio Caldara.
“I was surprised, extremely humbled and excited when I learned that I was a finalist,” Rivers said. “The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra has some of the most talented young musicians across Long Island, and to be selected is truly an honor.
