This is the new Good Samaritan University Hospital.
WHERE BETTER NEVER STOPS.
Introducing the most advanced, state-of-the-art health care experience the South Shore has ever seen.
Here at Good Samaritan University Hospital, “better” isn’t a finish line. It’s a starting point. A new beginning. A symbol of transformation our community deserves. And while our Patient Care Pavilion will feature an all-new, expanded emergency department, technologically advanced operating rooms, reimagined private patient rooms, and enhanced Trauma and Stroke centers, we know that better care isn’t just about the building. It’s about the people inside, and the hands that heal. Because better is something we live every day. And it never stops.

Lindenhurst Middle School Teacher Earns Prestigious Tech Award
Scott Moar, a mathematics teacher at Lindenhurst Middle School, has been recognized with the ASSET Bright Light Award. The award honors educators who demonstrate innovation, leadership, and a commitment to enhancing instruction through meaningful technology integration.
In nominating him, Trecia Wong, the District’s coordinator of mathematics, highlighted Mr. Moar’s approach in the classroom.
“Scott brings tremendous value not only to his
students, but to his colleagues and the entire school community,” she said. “In his classroom, technology is woven seamlessly into instruction. His students use tools daily to extend their learning.” To deepen the learning experience in the classroom, he routinely employs tools such as Google Chromebooks, Google Classroom, Canva, and the latest in interactive digital learning platforms.
Beyond his classroom, Mr. Moar is a known resource for colleagues, often assisting
with technical challenges and demonstrating new instructional technology that can transform a lesson. “Scott is consistently at the forefront of emerging edtech trends and generously shares his knowledge with patience, clarity, and enthusiasm,” Ms. Wong said, noting that his presence benefits the entire teaching staff at the school.
Mr. Moar received his award at an ASSET luncheon held at the end of January.

St. John’s Lutheran Church Celebrates 150 Years
St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lindenhurst will celebrate its 150th Anniversary this year. The congregation was officially chartered on February 27, 1876, in the Village of Breslau—now known as Lindenhurst.
To mark this historic milestone, a special Blessing & Historical Reflection will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:15 AM at the congregation’s original location, now home to Evangel Church of God, 12 West John Street, Lindenhurst.
The brief ceremony will include remarks from Lindenhurst Village
Historian Anna Jaeger, a blessing offered by Rev. Robert Schoepflin, Dean of the Metropolitan New York Synod’s Western Suffolk Conference of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and congratulatory greetings from invited elected officials. Members of the community are warmly invited to attend.
The anniversary weekend will continue on Sunday, March 1, at 9:30 AM, with a festive worship celebration at St. John’s current location, 36 East John Street, Lindenhurst. The Rev. Dr. Katrina A. Foster, Bishop of the ELCA’s Metropolitan
New York Synod, will serve as preacher. The Rev. Marc Herbst, pastor of St. John’s, will preside. All are welcome.
Immediately following worship, a celebratory brunch will be hosted at the Lindenhurst Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7279, 560 North Delaware Avenue, Lindenhurst. Church members, former ministers, and guests will gather for fellowship and reflection. Tickets for the brunch are available in advance.

Lindenhurst Pre-K Students Become Doctors For A Day
Lindenhurst’s Kellum Universal Pre-Kindergarten Center recently transformed its classrooms into a playful medical hub with a special Teddy Bear Clinic. Students were introduced to the world of healthcare in a fun, low-stress
environment by becoming caregivers for their own stuffed animal “patients.”
Young learners rotated through interactive stations, including booboo treatment, wellness check-ups, and bandaging. The hands-on clinic
focused on imaginative play, providing reassurance, and fostering early learning about health and wellness in a fun and interactive manner.

Alzheimer’s Foundation, DA’s Office, Babylon Town Clerk To Host Senior Scam Prevention Program Feb. 25
The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA), Babylon Town Clerk Gerry Compitello, and Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney will host a free senior scam prevention program on
Wednesday, February 25, at 10 a.m. at the AFA Barbara Rabinowitz Education & Resource Center in Amityville. The program, Preventing the Financial Exploitation of Seniors, will educate attendees on
common scams, warning signs, steps to protect against fraud and identity theft, and how to respond if victimized. According to the FBI, seniors lose an estimated $3 billion annually to scams, often because they are viewed
as trusting and financially stable.
AFA President and CEO Charles J. Fuschillo Jr. praised the partnership for empowering seniors with knowledge and awareness. District Attorney Tierney and Town Clerk
Compitello emphasized the importance of education in protecting seniors from increasingly sophisticated scams. Advance registration is required. For more information or to register, call 631-223-4000.

School Leaders Unite To Raise Mental Health Awareness
On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, Town of Babylon officials joined P.S. I Love You Day founders Brooke and Jaimie DiPalma, along with local educators, first responders, and community members, for a press conference recognizing P.S. I Love You Day and highlighting the importance of mental health awareness.
After losing their father to suicide, the DiPalma sisters created P.S. I Love You Day, now observed nationally on the second Friday of February each year. The initiative’s mission— to promote mental health awareness, reduce bullying, and strengthen suicide prevention through education and compassion—continues to resonate with communities nationwide.
The event featured remarks from Babylon Town Councilman Terence McSweeney, Brooke and Jaimie DiPalma, and local school officials. In a show of unity and support, Town of Babylon officials, the DiPalma sisters, school administrators and faculty, first responders, and residents in attendance wore purple, the signature color of P.S. I Love You Day, and participated in a group photo inside the Babylon Town Hall Board Room.
To further demonstrate solidarity, the cupola atop Babylon Town Hall and the building’s columns were illuminated in purple in honor of P.S. I Love You Day and those the initiative seeks to support.
Town of Babylon council members, the DiPalma sisters and community partners gathered with educators, first responders and residents at Babylon Town Hall to honor P.S. I Love You Day and reinforce the message that “You Are Not Alone.”
Town of Babylon officials and the founders of P.S. I Love You Day (Jaimie DiPalma at the podium) address the community at Babylon Town Hall, highlighting the importance of mental health awareness, kindness and suicide prevention. The Town’s Board Room was illuminated in purple in solidarity with the national day of awareness.
Town of Babylon officials joined students, first responders and community leaders in wearing purple and holding P.S. I Love You Day hearts to show support for mental health awareness and anti-bullying efforts throughout the community.
