Oyster Bay Town Clerk Richard LaMarca reminds residents looking to obtain or renew their passports that his office is a designated Passport Acceptance Facility. “Residents can stop in and apply for their United States Passports during regular business hours at both Town Clerk offices,” said Town Clerk LaMarca. “We offer the convenience of helping you prepare your application,

and also have photo services available right in the office.” Town Clerk LaMarca stated that the requirements for applying for a passport include: • One 2x2 color photograph with a clear view of the applicant’s face against a plain white or light colored background. The Clerk’s office provides passport photos for a fee of $10 at Town Hall North. Photo services are

Be familiar with the candidates and issues on the ballot. Voting is a privilege and a responsibility, so voters should familiarize themselves with the candidates and issues on the ballot in the weeks leading up to Election Day. In addition to national or statewide candidates and issues, voters should learn about local issues that may have a more direct impact on their daily lives. The more voters learn about the candidates and issues in advance, the more quickly they can cast their votes and get to work or return home.

While Election Day is an exciting time, voters may find it frustrating if they do not take steps to ensure things go smoothly when they head to the polls. The following tips can help voters prepare for Election Day. Confirm your polling location. Polling locations may have changed since last year, and voters who have moved in the past 12 months may now have to vote in a new location. Voters can contact their local board of elections or visit www.Vote411.org to confirm the correct polling locations for them to cast their votes. Voters should learn the hours when the polls are open so they do not arrive too early or too late to vote. Bring photo identification. Voter identification laws vary by state, but voters who want to avoid hassles or holdups may be able to do so by bringing current photo identification with them to the polling place. While such identification is not necessarily a requirement, voters who bring along a driver’s license or state identification card may get in and out of the polling place more quickly than those who do not.

Voting on Election Day is a privilege that voters should not take lightly. Taking certain steps in the weeks ahead of Election Day can make it easier for voters to cast their ballots.

Confirm registration. Voters can confirm that they have registered to vote by contacting their local board of elections in advance of Election Day. Sometimes voters’ names may not appear on the registration list when they arrive to vote, even if they previously registered. Poll workers can help voters who find themselves in such situations. But voters who want to avoid such hassles on Election Day can confirm their registration beforehand.

With a large number of new adoptions taking place as COVID-19 impacted our region in March, Oyster Bay Town Clerk Richard LaMarca today invited residents who have not done so already to utilize the Town Clerk’s Office to properly license their dog. In the Town of Oyster Bay, once a dog reaches four months of age, the owner is required by Town Code to obtain a dog license and verification tag. Licenses are valid for one year.

Town Clerk LaMarca stated, “With the unfolding of the COVID-19 pandemic over the last 6 months, there have been reports of large increases in the adoption rates of pets for companionship, especially dogs. If you have recently adopted a dog, now is the time to license it to ensure its safety and identification in case it gets lost! Each year, hundreds of beloved family dogs are lost because these animals do not have identification tags and

cannot be identified and returned to their owners. A dog license allows everyone to know your dog has a home, and also signals that your dog is up-to-date on its rabies shot. To put it simply: if you love your dog, license it! This simple act can only serve to protect our furry friends.” Dog licenses are issued to dogs four months of age or older for a 12 month period. The license must be renewed annually, and in order to license your dog, dog owners

must provide the following minimum information: • Name, residence address and phone number of owner • Name, sex, approximate age, breed, color, markings and other identifying details of the dog • State whether or not the dog has been spayed or neutered • Proof of a valid rabies vaccination Town Clerk LaMarca noted that there is no fee for licensing any guide dog, hearing dog, service dog, war

dog, detection dog, police dog, or therapy dog. Licenses are non-transferable and in the event of a change in ownership of any dog, all licenses must be updated within 10 days of such change. Licensed dogs must wear an identification tag, affixed to its collar, provided by the Town Clerks office at the time of licensing. To obtain an application for a dog license, please visit the Town Clerk’s Office at Town Hall North in Oyster Bay or Town Hall South in

Raynham Hall Offers Virtual Field Trips Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino recently announced that historic Raynham Hall Museum in Oyster Bay will continue to offer ‘virtual field trips’ for classes for many schools in the area to continue to highlight the stories of resiliency during the Revolutionary War from Robert Townsend and his compatriots as members of George Washington’s spy ring. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Raynham Hall Museum has presented more than 100 virtual programs, and reached over 3,000 students across Long Island.

Supervisor Saladino said, “Oyster Bay Hamlet’s history is chock full of historical importance that many of our younger residents may not be aware of, and that is why I am so delighted to see that Raynham Hall Museum has found a creative solution in virtual field trips to still be able to fulfill their important mission to preserve our history and educate our children on the past. Virtual field trips will be held throughout the school year and will serve as an important educational supplement as faculty and students alike adapt to the ‘new normal’

we all find ourselves in!” Raynham Hall Museum in Oyster Bay is currently offering virtual field trips for $4 per student for each program, with no more than 2 classes per virtual program. Virtual field trips have become a proven commodity to help ease educators burden coping with new distance learning options. The program is available to libraries as well, and is designed for youngsters from grades 2-11. The programs available at present are as follow: • The Townsends in the Revolution (4th and 5th graders, 1 hour long)
