56 years later, their work continues under the direction of the founders’ daughter, Rev. Kimberly Gaines-Gambino, who functions as the President/Pastor of this organization. She has also served as Pastor of Half Hollow Community Church in Dix Hills from 2011-2019, however she resigned from that position in January of 2020 to devote more of her time to the work of HHRM. She is a wife to her husband Andrew and mom & stepmom to ﬁve amazing kids. How does HHRM serve others? Feeding The Hungry: HHRM serves approximately 200-300 families per week with non-perishable items and fresh produce, fruit, meat, eggs, milk and bread. Since March 21, 2020, they have given out over 27,000 food bags to people in need on Long Island. HHRM partners with many schools, organizations, temples, churches, youth organizations, civic organizations, clubs, businesses, and

the many individuals and families donating to our pantry to gather food for the hungry.

School Supply Distribution: Every child deserves to have the supplies they need for their education, feel confident in a room with their peers and be prepared for their school year. This non-profit gathers and distributes school supplies to local children that are in need. Baby Blessings: Baby Blessings is a part of HHRM that focuses on providing families with children under 3 years old with diapers, baby clothes, other baby supplies and a brunch! Baby Blessings is hosted at Huntington Assembly of God every third Tuesday of the month. HHRM is so thankful to partner with Family Service League, the Allied Foundation and Huntington Assembly of God to make Baby Blessings possible. Community Closet: HHRM runs something called the Community Closet, which provides new and gently used seasonallyappropriate clothing to anyone in need during it’s hours of operation. Appropriate clothing can be a genuinely difficult expense for families, especially since most have children that are always growing. Helping Hand Rescue Mission also holds various other outreach programs, some of which are seasonal. There are many ways you can volunteer with, donate to or receive help from HHRM. They met the summer of 1983 at the East Meadow Jewish Center bingo when Lynda came to the weekly bingo with her Mom (Lenora) and Howard was the bingo caller. They enjoyed their ﬁrst date at the movies, but Lynda was already moving to California to pursue her career. Six months later Lynda moved back to NY and returned to bingo in Feb’84. When Howard saw Lynda he didn’t think twice and asked for a date. So in Feb. 1984 they were reunited and dated for a year before getting engaged in the fall of 1985. They were engaged for a year and were married Sept. 1, 1986. Happy 35th to my best friend. Love, Howard

Town to Host 9/11 & Walls Of Honor Remembrance Ceremony September 9th

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board has announced that a Remembrance Ceremony for the victims of the September 11, 2001 Attacks on America will take place on Thursday, September 9th at 7 p.m. at TOBAY Beach. A 9/11 Light Tribute will illuminate the skies along the shoreline in memory of those lost that tragic September

morning. At the ceremony, the Town will unveil new names inscribed on to the Walls of Honor that recently lost their battle with 9/11 illness caused by exposure at Ground Zero. The September 9th ceremony includes bagpipe music, religious readings and remarks by family members of the victims. The Town’s 9/11 Memorial - featuring a steel beam recovered from

the World Trade Center - is inscribed with the names of residents lost on September 11, 2001. The Walls of Honor monument expands each year with newly inscribed names of those who lost their battle with 9/11 illness caused by exposure at Ground Zero.
