Beautification Program Director Florence Findley were also in attendance. The Town of Babylon and it’s senior community were thrilled to be the recipient of the Lowe’s Hero’s Project once again. The three-day project resulted in restored bocce and horseshoe courts, benches and picnic tables. Two brick patios were installed, and the perimeter of the facility was outfitted with pristine landscaping. Employees from Lowe’s locations in

Famingdale, Commack and Bayshore assisted with the project. The Town of Babylon enjoys the wonderful partnership and is most appreciative of all the enhancements the committed Lowe’s employees have made at our facility. Of Sunrises & Stepping Stones I have always been a big believer in the concept of birthdays as beginnings, sort of personal new years, if you will, for each individual person. As such, my expectations of such days tend to aim for a level of unreasonable perfection, whether celebrating my own or that of a loved one; feeling that, somehow, this one day represents an omen of things to come over the next 364. This year, I decided to begin my day by driving to my favorite local sunrise spot, in the hope of catching one of those breathtakingly spectacular views first thing in the morning. All week, the weather looked to be beautiful, clear skies and sunshine all the way. Though it seemed exceptionally gray and gloomy as I headed south, I hoped the clouds would soon be accented by shooting rays of gold and pink.

Normally, club members, friends and family fill backpacks with much needed school items. However, this year, through a very generous donation of a truckload of backpacks, the club focused their collection on school supplies only, collecting close to 100 bags filled to the brim with notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, erasers, glue sticks, loose leaf paper and binders, markers, scissors, folders, etc. On August 16th, the supplies were dropped off to St. Kilian’s Outreach by club members, Rosemary
