RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY - The Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribboncutting ceremony to celebrate Lithology Brewing Company’s 5th year anniversary on July 9th. It truly is an example of the community we have cultivated in Farmingdale!” The Senior Walk was started in the district five years ago and is part of an impressive list of events that take place at the culmination of each year to celebrate this milestone in the graduating students’ lives. The halls of Albany Avenue, Saltzman East Memorial, Northside, and Woodward Parkway came alive and were a sea of green and white as seniors made their way through the hallways. As students visited their favorite spots in the schools, their photos from when they were students at the elementary school adorned the walls and their former teachers welcomed them back with open arms. The day was filled with Daler pride, beaming grins, and palpable excitement!

New York Blood Center Announces A Blood Emergency New York Blood Center (NYBC) announces a blood shortage in the region, one year after New York was the epicenter of the pandemic. Before COVID-19, donors could stop by community blood drives at convenient locations like high schools, colleges, and offices. It has been one
year since these groups had to cancel their blood drives due to COVID-19 and few have been able to resume these lifesaving events. NYBC currently has a 4 day supply of blood, which is well below what is needed by area hospitals. New York’s healthcare system requires 1,500
donations each day to treat patients ranging from trauma victims to newborn babies and their mothers to cancer patients. Donors with type O and type B blood are especially needed as NYBC currently has a 1-2 day supply of these blood types. “With thousands of New Yorkers getting
vaccinated each day, we are thrilled to watch our state recover from this catastrophic year,” said Andrea Cefarelli, Senior Executive Director at New York Blood Center. “As New York bounces back in strides this spring, we need everyone to make an appointment and donate blood to help save lives. While the
end of the pandemic is near, our struggle to fight for those in need continues.” We are taking extra precautions to help prevent the personto-person spread of COVID-19. As always, people are not eligible to donate if they’re experiencing a cold, sore throat, respiratory

As the Class of 2021 closes this chapter of their academic careers and begins a new one, one thing is certain to remain with them for a lifetime: the memories made during their tenure in the Farmingdale School District. On June 14, seniors took part in the traditional Senior Walk. Seniors donned their gowns and made their way to the elementary school they began their scholastic journey at, greeted by the teachers and students in the building who cheered for their incredible accomplishments. “Our students are the heartbeat of this community and of the district,” said Paul Defendini, Superintendent of Schools. “The Senior Walk is a wonderful event that allows our graduating seniors to reminisce on the wonderful memories they made during their

BAY CONSTABLES HONORED FOR THEIR LIFESAVING EFFORTS Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Oyster Bay Town Board recently honored Town Bay Constables Joe Rogers and Taylor Plank for their lifesaving efforts to rescue a vessel in danger. While patrolling our North Shore, Officers Rogers and Plank received a call that a vessel was taking on water out on the harbor. They quickly sprang into action to secure the vessel, saving all passengers onboard, towing the vessel back to shore, and ensuring no one was injured in the process. Had it not been for the swift actions of these two Bay Constables, this situation could’ve ended very differently. Supervisor Saladino proudly commended Officers Plank and Rogers for demonstrating an ability to act quickly and skillfully when fellow citizens are in need.
CELEBRATING HIS 100TH BIRTHDAY - Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Town Councilman Tom Hand recently joined with Ed Dionian, resident of Farmingdale and WWII veteran, in celebrating his 100th birthday. Ed is a WWII veteran who proudly served in the Armed Forces until 1956. Ed secured an amazing legacy of dedicated service and after returning home from service, he began to work for Nassau County to continue doing good work in the best interest of the residents. Supervisor Saladino and Councilman Hand joined with Ed and his assembled family and friends to celebrate his 100th birthday, honor him as an American hero, and thank him for his dedicated service by presenting him with a Hometown Heroes banner that will be on display in one of our Town Parks through Veterans Day.

Residents Invited to Bring Chairs, Coolers to Free ‘Music Under the Stars’ Summer Concert Series at TOBAY Beach Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board announced that residents are reminded to bring chairs and coolers to the Summer Concert Series at TOBAY Beach. In accordance with new CDC guidelines, the concerts will no longer be held in a drive-in fashion and residents can set
up seating areas in the lot at TOBAY. The ‘Movies by Moonlight’ series, held at local parks on Wednesdays this summer, will also be hosted in a traditional manner, inviting residents and families to bring chairs, blankets and coolers to enjoy the show. The 2021 summer concert and movie
series will feature a wide variety of genres ranging from country to rock, providing free family fun for all music lovers, as well as family-friendly movie selections. Admission is open to Town residents beginning at 7 p.m. on a firstcome, first-served basis, and residency will be verified upon admission. Most

The Town of Oyster Bay is pleased to announce available funds for rental and utility assistance through the U.S. Treasury Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) for residents of the Town of Oyster Bay. The Program is intended to assist renters who are having difficulty paying their rent and utilities/home energy costs due to effects of COVID-19. The Program is being administered by the Long Island Housing Partnership (LIHP). Who can apply? Tenants may apply and landlords may apply. If landlords apply, tenants must agree to participate. If tenants apply, landlords will be requested to participate. How are applicants reviewed? Applicants will be reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis, with priority consideration given to households with incomes at or below 50% of the HUD area median income, or households with one or more members who have been unemployed for more than 90 days prior to their application. Who Qualifies? To be eligible, a household must: I. Be renting in the Town of Oyster Bay as a primary residence (including all Villages but excluding the City of Glen Cove) II. Show that one or more individuals within the household has either qualified for unemployment benefits, experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or experienced other financial hardship during or due to the COVID-19 pandemic; III. Demonstrate that the household is at risk of homelessness or housing instability; and IV. Have household income at or below 80% of the HUD area median income based on calendar year 2020 or current projected 2021 income. Income guidelines vary based on the household size. Oyster Bay Town Councilman Tom Hand and the Town Board recently announced that the Town will partner with Team Boomer of the Boomer Esiason Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis to host a shoe collection drive. Residents are invited to donate any type of shoe in good condition at one of the following DropOff Locations: Town Hall North (54 Audrey Ave, Oyster Bay), Town Hall South (977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa), the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center (1001 Stewart Ave, Bethpage), and the Hicksville Athletic Center (167 S. Broadway, Hicksville). “The Boomer Esiason Foundation for Cystic
Fibrosis is responsible for lifesaving work in our community. Not only does the organization fund some of the most talented scientists and researchers, who every day come closer to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis, but they also provide critical resources and services for individuals currently living with Cystic Fibrosis,” said Councilman Hand. “All proceeds from this shoe collection drive will go directly to the foundation as they work toward their mission of heightening awareness, education and quality of life for those affected by cystic fibrosis, while also providing financial support to research aimed at finding a cure.” The Town’s Collection
Drive will run through August 1st. A Milestone Achievement Worth Celebrating The rain cleared out just in time to celebrate an important milestone in every student’s life: graduating from high school. On Tuesday, June 22, staff, students and families convened at the Shuart Stadium at Hofstra University to celebrate the years of hard work and dedication exhibited by our Dalers in the Farmingdale School District Class of 2021. “From the time our students enter these halls at the beginning of kindergarten to the time they walk across the stage at high school graduation, the staff, teachers, and administration of the
Farmingdale School District are confident that our students are prepared to step out into the world and accomplish incredible things,” said Paul Defendini, Superintendent of Schools. “While it’s difficult to have our students leave us after being with them for so many years, we are comforted by the fact that they know they will always have a community to come back to, one that will continue to support them throughout their lives.” It was a sea of green and white on the field of Shuart Stadium as families sat in the stands, cheering for their children as they
crossed the stage in front of their peers and family. Students were greeted by Principal Dr. Samuel Thompson and members of the administration as they had their name called to receive their diplomas. Identity Theft Prevention Tips (NAPSI)-A recent online survey by Toluna/Greenfield Online, Inc. found that while most consumers try to protect their identity, many admitted to risky behavior that could put them at risk for ID theft. To help educate and protect consumers, world-renowned fraud prevention expert Frank Abagnale offers these tips: • Shop smart: Limit the credit cards you carry. •Keep receipts and check
your statements: Examine every charge on your statement before paying. Your receipts provide a great cross-reference check and guard against suspicious activity. You have 30 days from the date of your statement to notify your financial institution of any discrepancies; otherwise, you can be liable for any purchases. • Protect your computer when online shopping: Make
sure your security patch and anti-virus software are updated regularly. Consider technology to protect against potential viruses. • Watch where you shop online: Look for the lock icon on the site’s browser status bar, a sign that that site is safe. If you have never heard of a website before, see if it has security precautions in place and isn’t a fake site set up by identity thieves. •Don’t write checks:
Give cash or gift cards. The service also scans online directories and search engines, prime sources for spammers and thieves, letting you know where your information is available, and provides advice on how to remove it.

Residents can drop off materials at 101 Bethpage-Sweet Hollow Road in Old Bethpage, on the following dates and times: S.T.O.P. Program – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 7th Homeowners Cleanup & Paper Shredding – 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 14th
“The summer months often bring with them opportunities for homeowners to clean out their homes and yards,” said Councilwoman Johnson. “Residents can bring both hazardous and non-hazardous materials to various programs we offer in the Town, helping to protect our environment and make cleanups more convenient.”

The Town’s S.T.O.P. program accepts various hazardous materials, such as gasoline, most pesticides, paint and batteries. The Homeowners Cleanup program accepts non-

Paper shredding services (up to four boxes) are also available during the Homeowners Cleanup to residents only, no businesses. The Town’s S.T.O.P. and Homeowners programs are open to residents within the Town’s Solid Waste Disposal District. Proof of residency is required. Supervisor Saladino Honors Town COVID Team
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino recently recognized the members of the Town’s COVID-19 Response Team as ‘Employees of the Month’ for the month of June. The Supervisor noted that the crew’s selfless commitment to the employees and residents of the Town of Oyster Bay has resulted in a distinguished record of excellence over the past year, during some very difficult times. These dedicated individuals
were tasked with creating a system for contact tracing, setting up testing procedures, facilitating the administration of vaccines and establishing protocols for each and every employee in the Town. Honorees included Bradley Panetta, Nicole Leroux, Sue Cowley, Kathleen DeTurris, Tom Bradke, and Team Captain Ralph Raymond. “During the COVID-19 pandemic, many in our community extended themselves to help
others and the enduring legacy of these times will undoubtedly be the way that people like the Town’s COVID-19 Team took action and made a positive difference at a time when it was most needed,” said Supervisor Saladino. “It has been a true comfort to know that you have gone above and beyond the call of duty to keep the Town of Oyster Bay employees, families and residents safe.”
External Diploma Program The External Diploma Program offers adults 21 and over, the opportunity to receive credit for their life experiences, and earn a high school equivalency diploma without the challenge of taking lengthy timed examinations. EDP, is a competency based
program for students who are unable to attend classes or who prefer to work at home. Successful candidates for EDP include former ESL students, students who have been out of school for prolonged periods of time, or students who fare better without

The Annual Open House is Wyandanch Public Library’s (WPL) most prestigious event of the year. It is a time for WPL to showcase its great programs, services and resources to the community while having a festive environment. It was also a chance for the community to interact with the helpful staff and take-in first-hand the many services that are
being offered. The WPL 48th Annual Open House Day featured information on Educational Resources, Technology Resources. On Site Learning, Career Support and Adult Literacy Programs. The day’s activities included Arts & Crafts and entertainment featuring a local Author, Robert Williams, and musical guest Roz Brown and many more.
