Inspiration. It can come from anywhere. A song. A movie. A book. A beautiful sunset. A peaceful walk along the shoreline. Anywhere. As I sit here on yet another deadline day, scrambling to finish the last of my work for the week, I am in search of some of that inspiration for my column. Last week’s article drew perhaps some of the greatest attention on the social media circuit, as I was pleasantly surprised by numerous “likes,” “comments” and “shares” from those supporters who follow my page on

those glorious sunsets and shorelines? And summer is indeed the perfect time for all of the above. Work hard to play hard, right? Well this is the season to take those vacation days, even if it’s only to catch up on your reading or start watching a new TV series. For those more adventurous among us, take a trip to NYC, or Fire Island, or Montauk… pick a direction, and just go. Make it your mission this summer to find the inspiration that has been missing from your life. And once you find it – write about it, take pictures of it, find some new way to capture it… and savor it.

Distinction’ winners were recognized during a special ceremony at the June 17th meeting of the Oyster Bay Town Board, at which time they were presented with a commemorative plaque and a $2000 academic scholarship check from Kids Helping Kids by Kids Way, Inc. “There are many young individuals who have contributed to the great quality of life we enjoy here in the Town of Oyster Bay. We felt it was important to recognize our young residents who involve themselves in voluntary community, charity or civic activities on their own individual initiative,” Supervisor Venditto said. “This provides a perfect opportunity for them to be recognized for their outstanding achievements.
