Now, Farmingdale High School can add one more award to the impressive list! On Tuesday, April 27, U.S. News & World Report published the highly anticipated 2021 Best High Schools rankings. Among the impressive list of high schools was the District’s very own Farmingdale High School! “Farmingdale High School is honored to be named as part of the U.S. News & World Reports’ 2021 Best High Schools,” said Farmingdale High School Principal, Dr. Samuel Thompson. “I can’t think of a better way for the work of our students and staff to be recognized. May this achievement serve as a reminder of what can be accomplished as a united community with a shared
goal of academic excellence.” The Farmingdale School District prides itself on its ability to prepare students for life post-graduation through the employment of a curriculum that provides students with the tools and experience they need to succeed. The data, collected during the 2018-2019 academic year, assessed students’ display of college preparedness, reading and math proficiency, reading and math performance, and performance on Advanced Placement exams, as well as the District’s high graduation rates, all of which are core metrics for evaluating a high school’s national ranking. Our Dalers’ performance in all of these areas, as well as their impressive scores on several statewide assessments, did not go unnoticed, affording the school a spot on this highly regarded list. “Farmingdale School District’s students’ and

The Farmingdale Meat Market located in downtown Farmingdale Village, is celebrating a Remarkable Milestone - their 75th Anniversary! Founded by Julius Seelig, the Farmingdale Meat Market began as a local Farmingdale butcher shop in 1946. The business has been family owned and operated for three generations (since 1946) and is now run by Julius’ son Kent, and grandson, Lee Seelig. Over the past 75 years Farmingdale Meat Market has grown from a small retail meat market into Main Street Wholesale Meats; one of the largest, independently owned, federally inspected meat facilities. In recent years they have also expanded into e-commerce and that has really taken off during the pandemic doing home-delivery of meat all over the Tri-State area. Julius would be proud to know that Farmingdale Meat Market is still thriving and has since expanded into wholesale (for 30+ years now) with Main Street Wholesale Meats. The retail store carries a full selection of beef, pork, veal, lamb, poultry, provisions, groceries and more; and the wholesale

Hope House Ministries (HHM) is a non-profit organization located in Port Jefferson. They provide compassionate, comprehensive and competent care for the poor, the marginal and the wounded among us. This commitment is woven in the Gospel vision that all life is sacred and every human person is unique and has the right to be respected and protected. They have accomplished much over the 40+ years they have been helping others with minimal financial assistance from federal, state or county agencies. They depend on the generosity of private contributions, fundraising events and corporate donations. Hope House Ministries services people in both Nassau County and Suffolk County, offering services free of charge. Together, their staff and volunteers have created an empowering sense of family and community that are the change agents, helping young people grow in self-discipline, critical thinking, problem solving skills and personal responsibility. There are so many ways that this non-profit can truly help you get your life on a better track. Additionally, there are plenty of ways for people to get involved in helping others through volunteering. Over the past 40 years, thousands of people have donated their time and talent to help this organization reach those in need. If you are interested in volunteering with Hope House Ministries individually or with a group, here are just some of the areas you can do so: Office Work, Cooking, Photography, Transportation for Residents, Maintenance, Gardening/Farming/ Grounds Keeping, Transportation for Furniture/Donation Pick Up. Here’s two reasons why you may want to consider giving to this organization: What if this was personal? Imagine your son or daughter, your grandchildren, your own brother or sister, or parent experiencing homelessness, addiction, mental health issues, domestic violence or severe depression. Imagine your family torn apart by circumstances out of your control. If you were connected to a crisis situation you would be very comforted to know that an entire community of supporters have made it possible for your loved one to find professional help and healing free of charge. So consider joining that network of support and be a part of the Hope House Ministries’ family. All of the services Hope House Ministries offers are FREE! This includes housing, supportive professional services, counseling, healthcare, insurance, transportation, food, clothing and opportunities for education both for both high school, college or trade school. When explained to those new to their agency, few believe it possible. Many question how they are able to stay open. The answer is best left to the words of one of our alumni, “Hope House is truly a miracle. And that miracle is healing.” Simply put, your contributions make this miracle happen. LaMarca Reminds Residents About Free Greenpass Beach Permit Oyster Bay Town Clerk Rich LaMarca reminds residents of the availability of the Town’s Green Pass Beach Parking Permit for eligible Town residents who drive clean pass eligible vehicle. In order to qualify for the Green Pass Beach Parking Permit, which comes at no cost to eligible
residents, the hybrid or alternative vehicle must be clean pass eligible. “As the weather gets warmer and with residents no doubt looking towards the summer season, my office is reminding residents that as a way of rewarding those who already have chosen ‘green energy’ vehicles, and to further
encourage others to do so, the Town offers free ‘green’ permits for parking permits at the Town beaches,” Town Clerk LaMarca said. “Our environment is one of our most precious resources, and I am proud to offer this incentive to Town residents who continue to choose to ‘live green’ and do their part to
cut down on harmful emissions created by our vehicles.” Residents who are looking to apply for the GreenPass Beach Permit are required to provide documentation, including proof of residency (utility bill), vehicle registration and photo of the car showing the license plate and clean pass or
document stating such model. The “green” beach permit entitles a resident to get a “green” seasonal beach sticker, which can be obtained at any of the Town’s beaches. In the recent past, he Town has made significant strides to cut down on its dependence on fossil fuels, including using biodiesel fuel

This organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and teens coping with serious illness, their families, and the clinicians who care for them through their Arts-n-Medicine Programs.
