FCA is extremely proud to represent a female majority workforce, including its management. All of its five divisions are led by women in Assistant Vice President roles and the organization as a whole is very excited about this new initiative; their goal is to bring together like-minded women in our local community. The event will be held on Thursday, March 31st at The Mansion at Oyster Bay in Woodbury from 9am-12pm. Each of FCA’s five divisions will be represented in the fashion show by client and volunteer models who will tell a story of the impact FCA has had on their lives and in the community. Those five divisions are:
Coquette Boutique, which has locations in Garden City, Manhasset and Rockville Centre, will be partnering with FCA as its fashion show sponsor. They will host a small pop-up shop at the end of the event and will donate a percentage of the proceeds back to FCA. Additionally, hair and makeup design will be exclusively provided by Studio Novelle of Carle Place.

Upcoming Free Virtual Community Tax Grievance Workshops
Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D-Lawrence) is partnering with the Nassau County Assessment Review Commission (ARC) to host free virtual community tax grievance workshop on Thursday, February 24, 2022, 7 p.m. to inform residents about how to challenge their property taxes online.

Even Assistant Principal Victoria LoRusso joined in on the fun! Students were enamored by the high society fashion typically worn for a night on the town and dinner at the Cotton Club. It was standing room only at the
literature table where they stood in line to type their names on an old fashion typewriter while learning about renowned authors Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston. This interactive exhibit was an excellent way for students to explore and learn about a significant time in American history. Many of them excitedly shared with their parents what they learned and are looking forward to seeing the exhibit again next year.

life of a co-worker. Highway staff, including ten-year veteran Paul Harabedian (not pictured), were performing maintenance on a plow for the upcoming winter season when it began to roll, crushing Paul’s hand. Jason, who was operating
the lift with a safety chain hooked to the top of the plow, immediately raised the plow connected to the chain. Had Jason not instinctively and decisively acted, Paul would have been gravely injured by the accident.

Students at Farmingdale elementary schools created Valentine’s Day cards to share with members of our local Police and Fire Departments to thank them for keeping our community safe. On Monday, February 14, police officers from
the NCPD’s 7th and 8th precincts, SCPD’s 1st precinct, along with firefighters from the East Farmingdale, South Farmingdale, and North Massapequa Fire departments received hundreds of Valentine’s from students at Albany
Avenue, Northside, Saltzman East Memorial, and Woodward Parkway. Our local heroes work hard every day to keep our community safe, and what better day than Valentine’s to show them how much we love and appreciate all they do for us.
The South Shore Audubon Society is beginning now to accept applications for a $1000 award, the Evelyn and Jerry Bishop Environmental Scholarship 2022. College juniors, seniors, or graduate students earning a degree in areas of biological or
environmental science, or sustainable and renewable energy are eligible for the $1,000 scholarship. For further information and to receive an application, email Betsy Gulotta at eagulotta@ optonline.net. April 30, 2022 is the deadline for the email
submission of applications. Completed applications include a brief explanation of the reason for applying for the scholarship and the plan to use the money, a copy of the most recent transcript of grades, and at least one letter of recommendation.
