To help educate and protect consumers, world-renowned fraud prevention expert Frank Abagnale offers these tips: • Shop smart: Limit the credit cards you carry. •Keep receipts and check your statements: Examine every charge on your statement before paying. Your receipts provide a great crossreference check and guard against suspicious activity. You have 30 days from the date of your statement to notify your financial institution of any discrepancies; otherwise, you can be liable for any purchases. • Protect your computer
when online shopping: Make sure your security patch and anti-virus software are updated regularly. Consider technology to protect against potential viruses. • Watch where you shop online: Look for the lock icon on the site’s browser status bar, a sign that that site is safe. If you have never heard of a website before, see if it has security precautions in place and isn’t a fake site set up by identity thieves. •Don’t write checks: Give cash or gift cards. The information on a check—name, signature, address—can be used to steal identity. •Strengthen passwords: Use passwords with at least eight characters, including a combination of letters, numbers and symbols that are easy for you to

Gift Of Health & Inspiration (GOHI): The Gift Of Health & Inspiration program includes a free tote bag, which is designed to be a supportive companion to the newly diagnosed cancer patient. The tote bag is filled with items to assist with your mind, body and soul. The items are nurturing, organic and holistic. They are given to patients at Good Samaritan and St. Catherine’s. Scholorship Programs: The BBCC offers scholarships to Babylon Township high school seniors who have had a parent or legal guardian with a personal breast and/ or gynecological cancer history. An essay must be submitted to be in the running for a scholarship! Vision Of Hope Garden (VOHG): There is a VOHG that this coalition started that is located on the southeast corner of Babylon Town Hall in Lindenhurst. Engraved bricks can be purchased in memory or in honor of someone who has battled breast or gynecological cancer and they will be installed in this garden. Bricks are available for engraving and installation at a cost of $50 each. Additionally, the BBCC is holding an Online Psychic Night! Join others for a gallery style reading as Georgia Rose channels messages from the other side! The Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition (BBCC) was founded in 1993 by three friends who lived in Babylon. Determined to fight against breast cancer by raising awareness and educating women, the BBCC with their dedicated volunteers undertook the task of completing a demographic survey to ascertain the incidence of breast cancer in Babylon. From this, a volunteer driven grass-roots organization grew, which serves the entire Township of Babylon, including those with all gynecological cancers in addition to those with breast cancer. Today they provide direct patient services and support to help ease the burdens that breast and all gynecological cancers put on patients and their families/caregivers. In addition to assisting in the basic needs of those battling cancer, they also reach out to the community at large, providing educational programs to encourage healthier lifestyles, which would decrease the still very high instance of these cancers in our community. Please note, if you do not live in this township, you can still reach out to the BBCC to find out who in your area can be of help to you. Below is a list of all of the programs that the BBCC offers. Lend A Helping Hand (LAHH): This unique patient service program provides much needed stress relief for Babylon Township women undergoing treatment for breast cancer and all types of gynecological cancers, as well as their families confronting diagnosis and ensuing treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiation. Some of the services this program offers include house cleaning, transportation to/from medical appointments, financial assistance, child care, massage therapy, meal preparation and more. Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman Laura Maier invites residents to submit photos taken in the Town of Oyster Bay to be considered for use in Town publications. “Our residents recently received their 2021 Town calendar, which is filled with photos submitted throughout the year depicting people, places, community events and scenery throughout our Town,” said Councilwoman

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Farmingdale Village Justice Salvatore J. Nicosia. The Honorable Salvatore Nicosia of Farmingdale served the Farmingdale Village community for more than two decades with dedication and fairness. Sal had a distinguished career as a local attorney and proudly served as a Judge for the State of New York and the Village of Farmingdale. He was a longtime member of Rotary International. On behalf of the Board of Trustees and local community we extend our deepest condolences to his family and mourn the loss of Sal Nicosia. “Ice skating is a fun, naturally social distanced activity, and there remain current limitations on activities residents and their families can enjoy,” said Councilman Hand. “To help offer our residents fun recreational opportunities they can enjoy in a safe manner, we’ve added an additional public skating
